What's the deal with Cole Holcolmb? If he isn't healthy by the start of the year do the steelers keep him?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
They might place him on IR or waive him injured

First impression, anything to report on Logan Lee? When is Dean Lowry expected back?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I like the body type of Logan Lee and what I have seen, but that's only in drills. Need to see him in a game. Not sure with Lowry

Good morning Gerry - have you seen any indication yet that Cory Trice is fully recovered from his injury and ready to contribute this season?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
I'll be honest, I haven't noticed him as much on the field, which usually means he's not standing out. But I'll watch him more closely now that the hitting has started.

How is Cam Heyward looking as far as speed, health, physical impact, etc...  Or is it too early to tell?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Again, let's see what happens in real games, but I will tell you this -- he looks as good as ever right now

Gerry, have the Steelers ever made an impactful training camp trade? I know Haden came as a FA after getting cut but it seems trades are rare except near cut down day.
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Typically, that is the case.

Gerry, what can you tell us about the new WR coach? Seems to be no nonsense kind of guy.
Gerry Dulac
10:21
It's very hard to evaluate assistant coaches. Are they just that good or do they benefit from have quality players at the position? That's why I don't typically evaluate them. I leave that to others. But I will tell you this about Arthur Smith -- he was hired in Tennessee by Mike Munchak was retained (and promoted) by the next three Titans head coaches -- Whisenhunt, Mularkey and Vrabel. That tells you something that Arthur Smith is an outstanding coach.

Gerry, has Payton Wilson looked as good as some of the viral clips of him looking like a video game cheat code?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Easy to look good in shorts, but you can see the speed and explosion in the guy

Gerry - Early impression of Arthur Smiths offense?  Does it look like we have an OC that creates mis matches and schemes people open as opposed to relying on just beating your opponent? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:23
My early impression is he wants to play physical football, Creating mismatches and scheming people open, as you say, can only be determined once they start playing real games. But he did that in Tennessee when he was the OC and I'm sure he will do it again. I think Arthur Smith was a great hire

I think this will be a breakout year for Najee Harris.  The last two years, opposing defenses were not concerned about Steeler QBs.  If they could stop Najee, and force the QBs to throw, game over, plus Canada's offense was so JV that EVERYONE knew when Najee was getting the ball.  How many times did he have to fight a lineman in the backfield as soon as he got the ball?  A: Too many times.  Yet he still managed to run for over 1,000 yards.  Jaylen Warren was great, but no defenses were keying on him in their game plans like they were Najee.  With a real OC at the helm, and especially one that demonstrated success with another big back - Derrick Henry - I expect the Steelers will be running a lot more, holding the ball for 40 mins per game, winning  games 24-10, with Najee threatening a 2,000 yard season.
Gerry Dulac
10:26
I wouldn't go that far with a 2,000-yard season because hw won't get the amount of reps that Derrick Henry did. Otherwise, I agree with you

Is Cam Heyward on the trading block?  If so what’s his value?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
No he isn't. And won't be.

Why is Broderick Jones not getting any reps at LT if the plan is to move him there if Fautanu plays well at RT? This is going to be another year where Dan Moore plays most of the LT snaps, isn’t it? Lol
Gerry Dulac
10:27
For the most part, yes. I'm not so sure that the best and most immediate path for Troy Fauntanu to get into the starting path isn't at guard
Matt
10:27
Hi Gerry, how would you asses what you have seen Of Arthur smiths offense (so far) as compared to the Matt Canada offense?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Do I really need to answer that? But, since you asked, we can't really evaluate that until we see what happens in a real game.

10:28
Are you concerned we have only one WR with an unknown quantity in Wilson and Fields
Gerry Dulac
10:28
It takes a lot to concern me, but I'm not sure I understand the question

How bad is Roman Wilson injury ?  Dreaded high ankle sprain ?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Out two weeks probably. At least

Morning Gerry....do you think that the Steelers thought they had a deal in place for another receiver when they traded Dionte Johnson?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
I don't know that they had one in place, or even thought they did. But it certainly increased their desire to get one.

With our new OC…any chance we ever see Harris/Warren in the same backfield like Harris/Bleier back in the day?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Yes, I think a good chance.

Hey Gerry! As always thanks for the chats!! I will never understand the unwavering support for Fields. The league told us what he's worth and i see not just Steeler fans act like hes the truth. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
I say you're right. What has happened with Fields is that the Steelers loved him in the draft, but he just hasn't developed in the three years after the draft
Rob
10:31
Gerry, is it true you are retiring end of season
Gerry Dulac
10:31
And miss these chats...???
Sweaty Ken
10:32
Is there a reason Justin Simmons is still a free agent? Could the Steelers still bring him in on the cheap? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Probably not
