OK, kids, we're going to start our chat is just a little bit, so get those questions ready....

OK, kids, here we go....

Would you agree that as bad as the steelers front office did in preparing a roster for last season they have completely turned that around and have done a good job in preparing a solid roster for this season.
Gerry Dulac
12:52
I would agree they have done a very good job of making sure they went out and got the pieces they needed to address the two biggest problems on their defense -- ILB and CB -- and got a proven veteran receiver to help ease the loss of 84

Not reading anything about sutton smith, is he to small after all ?
Gerry Dulac
12:52
A little early. Trying to figure out what to do with him, position-wise, because I think he's going to make the final roster because of special teams.

Welcome back to your chats Gerry! Seems to me for all the info I've read that the steelers are regaining the focus and the rookies are really  well conditioned. Do you think we are going to see a better team this year?
Gerry Dulac
12:53
I think so. and so do they.

Do you think James Conner will still be used in the work horse role this season?
Gerry Dulac
12:53
Until I see otherwise, I do. That has been Mike Tomlin's approach since he's been here and I don't see it changing.

Hi Gerry, with the lack of depth on the D Line, does Isaiah Buggs make the team and become a contributor? Saw him play in person and he was great, but that was college, not sure how it translates to the big show.
Gerry Dulac
12:54
I need to see more from him, see him in games, but, to me, unless he's a dog, he makes my team because he can move.

Hey Gerry! First time chatter! Would you say that the Steeler’s have never really recovered from the Sean Spence injury? Sure it happened a while ago but it had to have a negative impact on draft strategy.
Gerry Dulac
12:55
I like Sean Spence, I think he would have been a nice player, but I wouldn't trace their problems in the middle to his injury.

Good afternoon Gerry,  are you getting any different, more positive vibes from this camp than from recent ones?  Or is it just no fun in the sun,  men competing for jobs,  the standard is the standard?
Gerry Dulac
12:57
Not really. I've been to a lot of camps and, to be honest, I really can't tell a difference from the others. It's training camp, what can I say. Let me see some of these guys in a game. The true barometer will come in the regular season, no sooner.

Gerry. As always thanks for the chat. Do you think Tomlin will give Conner more rest this year during the season since Tomlin has at least one if not two viable back ups?  Or do you think he’ll run him until the “wheels fall off”?
Gerry Dulac
12:58
Well, let's hold off on Benny Snell until we actually see him play in a game. But, see earlier answer, I think it will be another heavy dose of JC

12:58
Why do you think the Steelers hold on so long with players that have proven to be unproductive... like a McCullers, Dupree, burns
Gerry Dulac
12:59
McCullers is a mystery to me. I get the other guys because they were No. 1 picks and sometimes it's human nature to admit you were wrong with such a critical pick. At least Burns and Dupree were and are starters. McCullers never has been nor ever will be one of those

I was always a fan of former Steelers captain Sam Davis who met with misfortune a number of years ago.  Could you explain what happened to him and if the Steelers current relationship with him?  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac

Sorry, I don't know enough about what happened to accurately say, other than it has been a difficult go for him

Dobbs in play to be moved since it seems MR has made strides per media reports? Thots?
Gerry Dulac
1:01
The only movement might be down the depth chart. But he's not off the team. The Steelers always keep 3 QBs and this year will be no different. As for Rudolph, he has looked better than Dobbs so far, but camp is only one week old.

Is there a noticeable difference in the seriousness of practices now with the sideshow distractions no longer there.
Gerry Dulac
1:01
Nope. Same.

Hello Gerry, thanks for your time and knowledge. I'm interested in your thoughts on JJSS. Is it possible that he can not only equal but surpass Browns achievements and have all of us fans saying "Brown who" .
Gerry Dulac
1:02
Who would've thought he would eclipse AB's numbers last season?? There is no reason he can't be even more productive. But, understand, defenses will be focusing on him now that 84 is gone. It might mean fewer big plays

Just curious if Steelers owner Art Rooney II has the same hands-on personal  relationship with the players and staff as did his father and grandfather.
Gerry Dulac
1:04
Art 2 is a different personality than his dad and grandfather. He is very hands on and very much around, but there is only one Chief and one DMR
Steeler Steve

If you had to pick one QB to let go today would that person be Dobbs or Rudolph?
Gerry Dulac
1:04
I'd say Devlin Hodges

How is James Washington looking so far at camp? Does he appear capable of making the jump that we are all hoping for?
Gerry Dulac
1:05
That's what we have to see. We've been seeing it in practice and camp for 2 years now. Let's see it in the games now.

Good afternoon.   Do you forsee Andy Russell making the Hall of  Fame?  I think the years he served in the military and the success of fellow linebackers Ham and Lambert have adversely affected his chances.
Gerry Dulac
1:05
Alas, I do not.

Gerry, thanks for your chats...just having a hard time, ...How bad is losing A B going to be for this season?
Gerry Dulac
1:07
You just don't lose a player who was the most productive receiver in any 4-, 5- or 6-year period in NFL history and think it's going to be easy to replace him. There will be a negative effect. It remains to be seen if that negative impact outweighs the positive gain

Hi Gerry - how was Steven Nelson looked in camp? Do you think he will be a solid pass defender that will allow the pass rush a bit more time?
Gerry Dulac
1:08
He looks like a veteran who knows what he's doing.
