I agree. But I think he will extend it. He should. Disgraceful decision/opinion by that retired judge. This was not a one-time incident. The guy is a serial predator.

Any particular reason Cam is being such a bully?!?!
Gerry Dulac
10:06
He always was. That's what makes him special. He's the alpha dog.

Gerry, are other teams around the league permitting the ridiculous show up for camp but not participate of what we’re seeing with D Lohnson?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
We're seeing it a little bit around the league. I get it if the player and team kinda know a contract is imminent. But that's not the case with DJ, not now.
DJ

Any chance we'll be treated to Cam vs Connor in some kind of 1-on-1 drill (e.g., backs vs backers)?  Surely TJ and Derek have done this at some point...?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Probably not, but would be curious to see for sure.

Hi G! With all the praise for Rudolph so far, have you seen anything in the QB battle that makes you seriously question the outcome we have all been expecting since the draft (Trubisky/Picket/Oladokun and a Rudolph trade)?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Nope, though I'm not convinced the Steelers will trade Rudolph because of their desire to always have two NFL-ready QBs available. It all depends how they want to handle Pickett.

Hey Gerry!  Can’t wait to hear the news when Mason runs with 1 offense.  With all the Mitch love and the prior comments on how he and Mason are so much the same….why so much doubt on Mason winning QB1? I’d think Mason has the upper hand.
Gerry Dulac
10:11
I'm not sure they're going to run Mason with the No. 1 unit. After all, they know what he can do. They want to find out what Trubisky can do and have Pickett develop. Rudolph is like the baseline for the position. The Steelers will judge the other two based on where they fall on the baseline -- above or below. Let's call it the Mason Rudolph Line.

Good morning Gerry.  So after a long and thorough investigation, it was found that the accusations that Flores made against Miami were not validated.  Not sure why his statement was that they were validates, when the investigation proved the opposite.  Do you expect any punishment or pushback for him making false allegations of such a severe nature?  At minimum, it certainly isn't a good look.
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Agreed, but I don't expect any pushback. Strange situation for sure.
Hi Ray
10:12
Hi Gerry - I see little reason for the Steelers to offer more than $15m, if that, for the receiver position given their current roster and success in the drafts.  Why not let Johnson and his agent find a trading partner willing to pay him closer to what he wants and get something decent in return?  Like an OT!
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Well, they're not going to trade him, not after losing three of their top 5 receivers from last season. He is their best and most productive receiver. But, I will say this, the worst thing that can happen to DJ is for Claypool to play as he did as a rookie and George Pickens be the player that everyone is seeing at training camp. All of a sudden, his value is diminished

Would the Steelers cut Gunner if Anthony Miller makes the team since he can return kicks and Gunner can't play much wide receiver?

No

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the Chats:  Every team thinks they are smarter than the others.  Buffalo wasn’t stupid. If Trubisky had starter talent, they would have signed him to be a long-term backup for Allen, and/or traded him for a decent draft pick when another team was desperate. But they just let him go and thought Case Keenum was just as good. That tells you everything you need to know about Trubisky.  Pickett by game 2-4.  Keep Rudolph, he can be a 12-year Charlie Batch QB2. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Thoughts? I disagree. Trubisky wanted just a one-year deal so he could go elsewhere after Buffalo. Why would he sign with Buffalo long-term knowing he might never play behind Josh Allen.

10:17
who do you envision winning the QB job?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
I think that is apparent -- Trubisky

Gerry, how do you see the DJ hold in playing out. As has been written ad naseum, he's not TJ or Minka - when will the situation come to a head? When will he practice and/or play in preseason?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
That's what will be curious to see. The Steelers would like to extend him, just not at the price he apparently is seeking. So if that difference continues, at what point does he decide to start practicing?

Hi Gerry, Warren and Durant seem to be doing well (so far). Any chance that both could make the team or practice squads?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Practice squads are always a possibility
Bryant
10:19
What's the competition between Greene and Dotson looking like so far?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
They are still rotating first-team reps. I think Green will eventually win the job

Steelers always seem to unearth an undrafted free agent rookie who makes the 53 man.  Give us your prediction on who that player may be this season.  Thx
Gerry Dulac

Jaylen Warren, RB

10:20
Hi Gerry! What is your way too early prediction on the season? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:21
You're right....way too early. But, because you asked, 9-8. With a little luck, 10-7
Jim in Az.
10:21
Gerry, I'd just like your opinion on the state of the defensive backfield.  I know Minkah is there but I am extremely concerned about the other 3-4 guys.  I personally think this year that the run defense may be alright but the weakness will be against the pass.  What are your thoughts as to the overall strength of the secondary?  Am I way off base here?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
No, I get your concern. But Terrell Edmunds is a long-time starter, not an inexperienced strong safety, same with Damontae Kazee. I think Cam Sutton is a solid corner, not a Pro Bowler, but he is especially valuable because of his flexibility. And we haven't had much of a look at Levi Wallace yet because of injury. I'm not trying to instill hope or confidence, but I don't think it's as bad as being feared. Then again, I could be dead wrong.

What current/former QB does Kenny Pickett remind you of?  Hie release reminds me of Romo
Gerry Dulac
10:25
He has a little Big Ben in him because he can make that quick throw on a quick decision.  That's when he looks the best
Utah Jim

Is Larry Ogunjobi the next Ladarius Green?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
No

Hi Gerry!  The video summaries of camp are great, thank you!  Chase Claypool...I know he is hindered by an injury; do we have a timeframe for his return?  Any proof of progress for C. Claypool to improve?  Thanks Much!
Gerry Dulac
10:26
He needs to show me in games, that he is more focused on his craft and using his size to his advantage. But his injury does not appear to be serious. The Steelers are just being careful with all these guys
Gene Takovic

Gerry, I have heard rumblings that Bush still looks tentative and lacks any sort of explosion. 1) Would you agree with that assessment? 2) If yes, is there anybody on the roster you would replace him with?
