What are the rules now for protecting players on the practice squad from other teams?

Same as last year. Teams have to declare each week which four players they want to protect from other teams signing them.

I doubt it, unless there is an injury. But that's one of the reasons he was brought back -- he is dependable

There’s speculation about the Steelers keeping Sexton over McCloud, but don’t you think it more likely Sexton goes to the practice team so he’s available in case Ray Ray falters or is hurt?

Yes I do. I think that's the most likely scenario, unless Sexton has another big punt return against the Panthers

Your tweet the other day made it sound like the Steelers have an agreement in place with Watt and are waiting until after the final preseason game to sign it. If that is what you meant, why the wait? Is there some strategic advantage to waiting until the end of preseason?

No strategic advantage. They don't want him to play or practice during this long preseason so its a good excuse.

I didn't see anything either way to change whatever it is I think of the O-line. Too early. And it's preseason. I've learned to wait until the race starts.

Do you see Spillane contributing enough to the special teams to keep him or will we be combing the cut lists for ILB upgrades???  And similarly, do you see us looking for CB upgrade??  And all of this doesn't matter without TJ right!!!!

Don't worry, Spillane will make the team. He's the top backup on the inside, something they really didn't have before.

How can any team say it keeps the best players, while also saying they don't like to give up early on 2nd, 3rd, 4th (or whatever) round draft picks? If an undrafted guy is better, he's better. Costs less also.

To a degree, yes, because Najee Harris and Pat Freiermuth make it interesting. Harris made it interesting the moment he was drafted.

My question is this: Do you think that Ben and company have a Mount Rushmore sized chip on their shoulders this year, due to all the incredible disrespect being shown to them,  and do you believe that they will take it out on every single opponent this season? I personally think they are chomping at the bit to mess people up.

I cant speak for the others -- and I can't really speak for Ben, either -- but I will tell you the quarterback gets fueled by that kind of stuff. I'm not sure about the "every single opponent," but I fully expect Ben to have the same sort of year first-ballot Hall of Famers always seem to have.

Do you agree that Steeler fans vastly underappreciate the depth at QB? Nitpick as they might about Rudolph and Haskins and QB2 vs QB3, most teams dont have that luxury, & regular season starts mean something. Thx as always for your insights!

He has been very good. The coaches really like him. Don't be surprised to see him play Moore, pun intended.
