Morning Gerry, I don’t get the math on holding out when you know you’ll be franchise next year. Let’s say you can make 28 million this year in 28 million next year or hold out and make 4 million this year and 28 million next year on the franchise tag… How do you ever make that money up?

I actually think the secondary, once healthy, might be one of their stronger units. And I don't share the concern about the OL that everybody else seems to have

I think the best thing the Steelers did this year was improve their depth -- everywhere. Sure, season-ending injuries to a star player can be tough, but that's true of EVERY team

I still say there was bad blood when Tomlin went left… like maybe they told him they were not extending his contract… I don’t buy the official narrative… And I think it’s possible Joey is a Tomlin guy and That’s part of the issue

Yeah, not sure. I agree, he looks good every time he's on the field. I believe with a lot of RBs like Nichols, all they need is an opportunity.

Very possible. But I don't think anyone thinks Porter is going to set the market, especially the Steelers. Gonzalez, yes, though Devon Witherspoon has already done that.

Anyone who hates Mason Rudolph isn't worth considering. He is a quality backup who has rescued the Steelers more than once

It feels like the Steelers allocated a certain amount of money to resign a core group of players, and JPJ is the last one to sign. But, because they arguably overpaid the others, there isn’t enough left in the pot to sign JPJ - making this an overall money issue (and not strictly a JPJ money issue).  Or, is this more about the team wanting to pay JPJ an amount that slots him in where they rank him at his position? Or something else?

Well, part of that is Porter's problem. The Steelers quietly stated all along the ones who get a new contract are the ones willing to get a new contract. And, apparently, Porter was not in a hurry to get in line. But, yes, it's also about what the Steelers think Porter is worth, not what his agent does.

This team ,offensively, will only be as strong as its O-Line. Who IYHO are the weak links on this O-line and do the Steelers REALLY have quality depth pieces in place on the O- Line.

OK, let's give the "I'm worried about the O-line" talk a bit of a rest. Have you looked around the NFL to see how many teams can't even field five to make a solid offensive line? And what's wrong with the three on the left side and a No. 1 pick waiting to be the RT??

Good morning Gerry. Does Tomlin deserve criticism for moving offensive lineman out of position and they fail?  Dotson moved on and went back to his original position and did great in LA. Is Jones failure on tomlin also?  Thanks

It's easy to point to an isolated case like Dotson and criticize the entire evaluation process. Maybe Jones' failure, as you call it, lies with the people who evaluated him from the beginning.

Good morning from 36k feet, Gerry. My question is: You have a million dollars to bet on if JPJ and Omar get a deal done before the start of the season, are you laying it all down that a deal gets done before the start of the season, or do you walk out of the casino without placing a bet?
