I don't either. He was a full-time starter from the get-go who was durable and dependable. I'm not sure the Steelers have upgraded that position, to be honest.

They won't. They signed Matt Corral last week and brought Bailey Zappe back to the practice squad. Of course he wasn't going to just have one on the roster.

A couple of NFL analysts projected that Warren will have more touches than Najee, which seems ludicrous to me.  I expect Warren to have a larger but not starting role.  Agree?

I loved what I saw from the offense in the preseason, but it was against 2's and 3's. How do you think the O will do against the number 1 D from last year on Sunday? Will 17 points be enough, or do they have to score in the 20's to win Sunday?

Deebo is sure to be a main target for Purdy in this one.  Do you see Austin sticking our best DB on him no matter where he lines up this game?  Or does he not draw that kind of game plan from us?  If we do troll him with the same defender all game, who would that be...Peterson?  Looking forward to you thoughts on this one.

No. They don't have the type of shutdown/matchup corner to shadow him, not yet anyway. Joey Porter Jr. can eventually be that guy but not now. I think you might see a lot of zone.

It's interesting to me the way some fans seem to think of Colbert as a bust at the tail end of his drafting era yet these same fans are VERY optimistic about Pickett (not that I disagree).  Wasn't Pickett a Colbert pick?!?

One comment about 8. He is incredibly media savvy.   I understand why he has garnered the respect of his teammates.  Even MT has made booster type comments on his development.  I absolutely think he is perfect fit for Steelers and the burgh. I do not care about where he ranks amongst Mahomes Burrows and don’t forget Jalen.  I am confident he will elevate the performance of the team.   Has your faith and belief in 8 improved Gerry?

I hate to disappoint you, but unlike what Deion Sanders expects from the media in Colorado, I don't have faith or belief in any player or program. It is my job to report on what I see and what I know and accurately and responsibly present that to the public. I'm not paid to be invested morally, spiritually or personally in a player or team. Too bad the coach in Colorado doesn't understand that.

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  You mentioned last week the TJ late contract signing and his great first Sunday game.  I just checked and he signed on Wednesday and Played Sunday.  He was also a camp “hold-in” doing individual workouts (no doubt talking to the coaches about game planning).  Today is Wednesday—and Bosa is not even at 49er camp.  Do you still think he can just sign up to Friday and just walk in the stadium tunnel on Sunday at 1PM?

Penn State, Pitt the Steelers....when was the last time there was this much excitement for all three at the beginning of a season?  Especially QB play...I can't recall this much hype for Western PA football in a long while.

I think they make the postseason. I'll hold off on the drought ending till I actually see it. By the way, it's the longest drought since they first made the playoffs in 1972. Before that, they had made the playoffs just once, in 1947, and lost. So anything before 1972 would be the longest playoff win drought

I think the Steelers should be able to get pressure on Purdy. LT Trent Williams is very good, but the O-line might have some vulnerability.

With all due respect Gerry, why was it OK for you to repeatedly express view that drafting 8 where they did was a reach but not acknowledge that his performance might indicate otherwise?    I am not expecting anything more than what you set forth in your response but you clearly were critical of 8 when drafted and repeatedly shared view that Mitch was better QB during last year’s camp.
