Gerry, it was suggested last week that I should run your chat one time. I would be happy to do it next week. If I do well, you'll have to let me continue, kind of like Mike Tomlin did with Mason Rudolph over Kenny Picket. Just please don't ask for a trade, if you do, you'd only be hurting yourself. OK?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Bill, sounds like a deal, but on one condition: You have to answer all Kenny Pickett questions without bias

Hi Gerry. Can’t wait to see the Steelers at Foxborough this weekend!

Did you and Ray do a post-game video this week? I couldn’t find it.

Also, caught part of the Monday night quarterback show. Is it possible you could please check on the availability of the show as a podcast for this season as was done a few years ago and let us know,? Thanks,
Gerry Dulac

Different format this year. We are doing individual hand-held videos after the game, approx 90 seconds each. And I'm not sure what the station is doing with the MNQ show but I'll check.

Odds JPJ suits up in a Steelers uniform ever again?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Good question. I think this week will answer that question.

What’s the situation at offensive tackle for this Sunday and for the longer term?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Same as Falcons -- Cook at RT, Fautanu at LT. Now, longer term, that's a different issue.

Gerry, I was really impressed with Drew Allar in his preseason appearances, I thought he had 'rock star' written all over him. Wil Howard looked like a career back up. Where do you think Mike McCarthy is at on the two of them based on preseason?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
I wouldn't go that far about Allar, but I get your point. And, believe it or not, you're not far wrong

Gerry:  If you will indulge me with a comment and not a question.  I have been on the bandwagon for trading TJ, his contract is a disaster, etc.  All I can say is All Hail King TJ.
Gerry Dulac
10:12
You are/were not alone with that sentiment, judging from public complaints. And he showed Sunday what he can do when healthy. That's not a bad Falcons O-line. It's a different Steelers defense when he plays like that. That five-play sequence in the third/fourth quarter, culminating with the interception TD, might be the greatest of his career

We catch the ball and the refs don't miss 2-3 DPI's we run them out of the stadium.  I was the guy that said we should feast and you said "famous last words"...but don't you believe we are much stronger?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
If, if, if. You're right, but probably every team can say that. I bet the Falcons are saying if we don't miss those two field goals....

Gerry,  I missed your quarterly analysis during the game. Are you not doing that this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
No I'm not. Change of plans this year. Sorry

Good morning Gerry. Did you see anything with the O-Line performance in Week 1 that causes you concern - I.e., was the underwhelming running game and somewhat shaky pass pro things that can be fixed with time and cohesion of the unit? Many thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:17
The running game does not concern me at all, it's just one game. But it was not very good against Atl and needs to be better. I'm sure it will be. It actually was pretty good in the fourth quarter when it needed to be, but it was a pretty low bar to begin with

Gerry: A pretty uninspiring win, but if the Steelers got $30 million of value out of their WR1 contract on Sunday, wouldn't they have won that game by 17 or more?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Uh...yeah!
Bill
10:19
Are there any other high profile players from other teams other than Levon Bell who were/are willing to give up $10-15 million by not coming to an agreement? Joey Porter put himself into a corner where the most he will ever make this year is what - 2.5M? He basically walked away from a nice paycheck and if he doesn't play - basically puts himself in a position where he may never recover.
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I don't know off the top of my head if there are others, though I'm sure there are. That money lost is never recovered. Porter is scheduled to make just about $4 million this year. He owes the Steelers a year in some form. They will not continue to keep putting him on the injury list if he says his back is bothering him. Plus, keep in mind, other teams are watching this behavior too. That doesn't help his market value, at least, the value he thinks he is worth, which is why he is in this predicament to begin with

Gerry, I am pretty sick of DK Metcalt. Dropped passes and two penalties. Attacked a fan last year and got suspended. George Pickens please!
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Be careful what you wish for my friend
Maryland Steeler
10:22
Gerry, I understand that the JPJ feels he should be paid as a #! corner and you hear a lot of players and fans saying he should "get his bag" but sometimes isn't ok to support the Organization/Team that understand what is best from a business standpoint? I feel that some players are not grateful to play a sport and get paid millions of dollars.
Gerry Dulac
10:25
He wants to be paid like a top corner, not necessarily the No. 1 corner, which I'm sure (typo aside) is what you're suggesting. The Steelers were very generous with their offer(s). And, not that it is my place to play with people's money, but, really, what is the difference between, say, $26-$27 million and $30 million?? And I'm well aware guaranteed money is always an issue too

10:26
Gerry:  the Steelers have been criticized by many for the policy of not negotiating during the season to avoid distractions.  My question is not should they eliminate this policy, but should they move up the deadline to say September 1st so as not to cause distractions in preparation for the first game?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Nah. They take it up to the very last minute for good reason...and it's the right one

10:26
Good Morning Mr Dulac.  I hope your day is great.  I am not a finance major, but 33 million dollars this year plus your annual new salary next year sure seems like a better deal than 3 million this year and 23 million next year.   Or am I missing something?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Yeah, it's not $33 million. And you're not figuring in signing bonus and guaranteed money. The guaranteed money can always be a stumbling block.

10:27
Gerry what do you think about the play of Payton Wilson i think he looked good against the Falcons on Sunday
Gerry Dulac
10:28
He did. And I never did have a problem with it

Have you been told anything about your status with your hall of fame vote?  Also, I'm still confused as how the HOF will set up voters who are not bias in any way or form.
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Because you asked, I will tell you they told me last week I am one of the cut casualties. I have been dropped from the selection committee.

Gerry:  Porter is either lying about being hurt as a negotiating ploy and a way to get paid without playing OR has a back issue bad enough to bother him for 6 weeks.  Would you guarantee $50m+ to a player in either case?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
I'm guessing because you asked, you wouldn't. But maybe he would immediately feel better if he got the guarantee he wanted

What is the best source of information for you getting insights on what is what regarding state of Steelers? Press conferences, player interviews, incidental conversations, private sources, othe, etc?
Gerry Dulac

Some of those you suggest are just finding out little tidbits or interesting sidebars. But if you really want to know what's going on.....

I know most are whining about how poorly the offensive played but I was thrilled to a 180 degree improvement in philosophy and not having this dull risk adverse mindset. Rogers throw downfield and used the center of the field often. And welcome back Pat F!!!! We missed you! They'll work out the kinks but I can finally watch games now without turning them off at halftime from boredom.
