Gerry. Your thoughts on cutting Moncrief and resigning Eli? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:38
I don't think they're going to cut Moncrief, not after the contract they gave him. But I have advocated bringing Eli back since the NE game

Good Morning Sir!
If the Steelers "earn" a top 10 pick in the 2020 draft does GM Colbert land on the hot seat since the reason for the trade is his groups inability to identify/draft/sign defensive players in recent times other than Watt?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
You will be able to hear the critics all the way down in Dallas

Hi Gerry. So we see big big changes.  Injuries suck.  I wish Ben well in his recovery but we could be witnessing the start of new era in Steelers football.  With Ben out, Connor injured, and a new DB, what is the strength of this team going forward?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
That's what we're going to find out, but I will tell you to go easy on the negativity and pessimism. Let's see what happens

Ben showed up this year looking like he was already one foot into retirement so any thoughts the Steelers would really be interested in bringing him back as long as he passes a medical to negate the injury guarantee next year?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
No he didn't. He showed up in great shape and with the same great attitude, even more so.

I've been a Tomlin die-hard for years now and think most of the negativity directed at him is overblown and weirdly obsessive, but I'm finally coming around to the idea of a fresh start with a new coach. They look lifeless right now. Thoughts? Also, can you ask Ben to retire?
Gerry Dulac
11:41
That's what Tampa Bay did when they fired Tony Dungy years ago. All he did was win games but never get past the first round of the playoffs

This team is not far from being really good. Lots of new (many young) players on both sides of the ball and still learning. One play made in Seattle (Moncrief catches it or McCullers PF penalty avoided), Steelers win. New England game if either of the two 3rd and one situations are converted in first half and it is different game; perhaps only 10-0 or 10-3 at half-time. Second half of NE game there were 3 drives when the Steelers had the ball first and 10 at NE 42, 46, and 41 only to stall. Make first downs there and you are looking at least at field goal tries but most importantly, Brady kept off field and Steelers defense gets more rest. With the addition of Fitzpatrick, this team's arrow is pointing up!!! What say you?

You, sir, win the Most Positive Award. Give him a cigar!! No....wait..

If Mason comes in and plays well enough to look like a long term starter, what do they do if Ben recovers and is ready to go next year?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
Mason goes back to No. 2

Some pretty poor timing on big contract extensions for Ben/Tomlin? Been much cheaper to "reset" after the season...
Gerry Dulac
11:42
They have had some bad luck/timing with those new contracts over the years. See Stephon Tuitt...

Hi Gerry, Couple questions rolled into one here. 1 - have you heard any update as to what the specific injury to Ben was/is? 2 - IF this happens to be the end for BR where do you rate him on the all time QB list? Personal opinion I put him within the top 10. what say you :)
Gerry Dulac
11:43
1. No. 2. Top 15

I can see the value in adding MF since the Dolphins paid the $13mil bonus and he is under team control for 3.5 more years. But was it too much of an all the chips in the pot for a season with a backup QB?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
No, I just don't like the idea of trading  away a future No. 1. But it's hard not to like MF in your defense.

Are the Steelers finally changing the way they do business in regards to the draft and free agent signings moving forward ? The draft has produced a few hits but more misses lately . If the Fitzpatrick signing proves to be a hit , do we see a change in philosophy ?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
I think we've already seen it.
OK, just a couple more quick hits....

Did the Steelers really turn down a 1st for Brown from the Patriots? Can you imagine how fun that would have been to watch...
Gerry Dulac
11:45
No AB to NE on their watch

Hi Gerry..I don't believe we are so sunk as everyone believes we are..a little comparison...2004..Ben was a rookie...look at his numbers the first 2 years...yikes...the defense...biggest issue..even the running game..both Olines..are very good..the WR's..are the biggest question and coaching..(Ward,Burress, Randel El..Cowher let his coordinators coridinate)...what is your assestment..don't forget the competition..Baltimore was way better...so were the Bengals

if the Steelers finish way under .500 (say 5-11) which of the following are back next year Tomlin/Butler/Colbert?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Two of the 3

Chances Ben/Rudolph is Peyton/Luck 2 and we have to watch Ben in a different uniform?

I say Steelers make the playoffs. Hallucination from bad Halushki? Ravens win division we get a WC

Possible, but...

Ok let’s redirect the D questions to Tomlin; whatever they’re doing isn’t working. For an organization that prides itself on defense, why is he still allowed to run the show? If it really isn’t Butler - what purpose does he serve?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
Pay the man
OK kids, that's all the time we have. Thanx for the questions.
