OK, kids, we will start our chat in approx 5 minutes so get those questions ready, though I see we are already locked and loaded....

Gerry - Do you think there will be any changes in play selection or game plan against the Packers?  Or do you think it will be more of the same?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:46
I hope it's not more of the same because it's kind of painful to watch. I'm sure they will change some things. To not do so is ludicrous.

Hi Gerry, this is the new math I've been seeing. 7 offensive penalties, 8 drops by the receivers, 75 yd TD drive on 3 plays given up before the half by the D, 0 sacks, 4 defensive starters out, 8 hits on Ben, 3 sacks, 2 receivers out, new coordinator and offensive line in training, < 3 yds per rush = Ben needs to retire. what???
Gerry Dulac
10:47
Heyyyy, no logical observations this early in the morning. Your new math is pretty good.

Hi Gerry, in PG yesterday one colleague opined that Ben has gimpy arm and is to be blamed for sabotaging Canada's offensive by not buying in and calling all passing plays. What do you say to both observations?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
I say I didn't read it and I'm glad I didn't.

Rodgers seems to really be buttering up Pittsburgh. When you think about it, given the skill players here, the defense, and the fact that the two 'promising' rookies on the OL will no longer be rookies next year, this actually could be a good fit for him. 2 years in Pittsburgh, go for a SB before retiring? I don't see the Steelers drafting in the top 10...
Gerry Dulac
10:48
And I don't see Rodgers coming to Pittsburgh. At all.

It was early in the 2008 season. Steelers played the Eagles and the Steelers lost 15 - 6. And this was how bad it really was.

Ben was sacked 8 times.
Wille ran 13 times for 20 yards. 1.5 per carry.
Heath lead the team in receiving with 4 catches for 63 yards.
Ben was 13 of 25 for 131 yards. Passer rating of 50.6.

At the time most blamed the O-line. That of course had the year ending with Ben holding a super bowl trophy and asking "Who's laughing now O-line?"

I know, Ben was younger, Willie was faster, the assistant coaches were better, whatever..

But if we learned nothing else from that year shouldn't we have at least learned to have some patience?

That is all. Climb off my soap box now...

Jerry, I know the Steelers are high on James Pierre but I guess I don't understand that.  He was left in single coverage last week on Chase and got burned again.  He has not shown me any reason why they like him so much but if he's going to play should they not give him help over the top?  Is there a reason he was left in single coverage against the Bengals best receiver near the end of the half last week?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
I'm not going to make excuses for James Pierre but I would ask you to consider that was a helluva throw by Joe Burrow and Chase caught the back end of the ball with his fingertips around waist level. Nobody could have defended that. Nobody

Hi Gerry - have you seen a worse performing offensive lineman in recent memory than Chuks? He does not look like an NFL starter and not even sure he has earned being on an NFL roster
Gerry Dulac
10:51
I've seen a LOT worse

Why do all NFL teams have lay a white plastic tarp on the field at bench  area of the field? It looks slippery.
Gerry Dulac
10:51
I believe that's the area in which the team is required to sit and congregate
Paul
10:52
Bush only had two tackles last week. Did he play fewer snaps than ususal?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
Yes he did, but not too many. He played 38 snaps compared to Joe Schobert, who played 42. They took him out a few times in their sub packages, probably because they wanted to protect that groin injury in his first game back.

What's with the Steeler no-shows on a beautiful day at Heinz? Is this related to something non-football?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
Great Race maybe. Or Great Apathy, not sure which
JerseySteel
10:54
Hi Gerry - can you explain why Ben even bothers throwing the ball to Ebron? He drops so many balls and drops seem to be worse this year so far.
Gerry Dulac
10:57
The drops are worse because they are a higher percentage. He has been targeted only 7 times compared to 14 times after three games last season. And I have him for three drops. Not a good percentage.

Tough year for you so far…wrong on all three Steeler predictions, wrong on Ryder Cup prediction. Maybe you and Ben ride out in the sunset together LOL
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Ha...I never said I know what I'm talking about. Have you ever seen worse putters in that event like Matthew Fitzpatrick and Viktor Hovland??

Any chance we trade for or sign an OL? Forrest Lamp is available.

Is it safe to say that Coach Canada’s offense is better suited to a young, inexperienced but mobile QB than an older, experienced but immobile QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
I think that is safe, yes.

Hi Gerry, a team in the NFL has the same QB that had 33 TD passes and won 12 games last year. This year same QB, same receivers, better RB, but totally revamped O Line and new O coordinator. Results have been - can't run effectively, QB has no time to throw which limits mid range and long passing routes and QB is getting pummeled. Offense scores 4 TDs in 3 games. From this totally hypothetical scenario what area is most responsible for the offensive woes in your opinion?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I think you know based on what you just outlined. Lot of new faces, new O-line, new coordinator. Look, I'm not predicting Super Bowl but I learned a long time ago to never jump to conclusion after just three games. Case in point: The earlier observation about that blowout loss to the Eagles in Week 3 in 2008. The offense had scored just 16 points in back to back games. And they ended up winning the Super Bowl

11:02
Boyd said the Steelers quit.  Do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
No. I agree he's not very smart for saying that, in case someone asked me to agree with that observation.

I've seen quite a few people harp on Makes drops in the game. I don't get it. 2 of the drops came when the game was out of reach. Plus the dude was basically responsible for 90% of the offense. What's your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
They have no clue, those are my thoughts

For the people who want the Steelers to sign available free agents now, ever wonder why they’re still available?
Gerry Dulac

Heyyy, who let you in the chats with that type of precise insight???

Hello Gerry.... I'm beginning to wonder if Colbert and Tomlin aren't judging talent on a label needed to win.  Missed high draft picks....mediocre free agents...and they apparently believed this group of rag-tag linemen could cut it.   If this season keeps spiraling, does Colbert retire and allow a new guy to rebuild with a new QB?   Thanks!   Great work!
