Not very good

Why is it that fans think teams can sign starters off the street at this point of the season?  Doesn't it occur to them that players unsigned this far into the season are available for a reason?

Please comment on this long term issue. From 2018-2023 no first round or first drafted player on team. Entire 2022 class gone. Jury still out on Fautanu. Not a good look for management.
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Not a good look for anyone. The success of any draft is predicated on one thing --hitting a home run with the No. 1 pick. The Steelers have hit a bunch of singles.

The offense is moving the ball much more efficiently in the second half of games. Do you attribute it to in game adjustments, more no huddle, more audibles, or Rodgers/coaching staff figuring out the defense as the game progresses. We all remember when Ben did his own thing when playing for Canada. I think this is different.

Part of it is figuring what the other team is trying to do, and, let's face it, Rodgers might be the best in the league when it comes to that. But something else is in play here -- great QBs, of which Rodgers is one, have the ability to turn it out when it matters most. That's why you see all those comebacks like Sunday. It was time to play and he did

Gerry, why is Heidenreich on the 53 man roster? He is listed as a RB yet they elevated Nichols and Homer instead of giving him a helmet. He also played quite a bit of WR at Navy. When Pittman and Wilson went down they brought up the Brandon brothers. It seems to me he is just taking up space on the 53.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
I thought for sure you were headed to say Eli needs to play more, but you effectively want him off the team because he's taking up a roster spot. This isn't Navy. He's no more a WR than Kaden Wetjen in their eyes. OK, now you will say, "Then why did they draft them?" And I will say, good question.

Hi Gerry - 22 catches between two WRs in one game - wow! When Pittman & R Wilson come back from IR, I wonder what role will be left for Wilson? I would think Pittman gets slotted in as #2 or #3. What is left for Roman?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
That is the least of their concerns. Everybody complained since last year they don't have enough good receivers. Now you're saying they have too many. Yikes

Hi Gerry! While it's great to see the Steelers back on the winning track, I have to wonder what the results would have been if they played the same way as they did the past two games against quality opponents. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
It doesn't work that way in the NFL. You see upsets that boggle your mind happen every weekend. Just win the games you're supposed to win. Don't say, "Yeah, but...."

What is the probability that there is at least a tacit understanding among teams that the NFL wants them purposely to keep the score close in games that are in a single time slot, i.e., SNF, MNF, and TNF? Not suggesting "fixing," but NFL is entertainment, and the SF/Washington game on MNF seemed like classic case of inexplicably close second half.
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I'd say the understanding if they are glad to see it, even encouraged to see it. But not to the point that, what is it you suggest, fixing??

Did Bill in LA join you for the trip to Paris?  Did we ever figure out if it's Los Angeles or Louisiana?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
I'm gonna ask him

Gerry, great job this year as always. Do the Steelers view Everett as the guy long term?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Absolutely. That's why they play him so much

Gerry, ma chère, dans une semaine seulement, nous marcherons main dans la main sur les Champs-Élysées et profiterons d'un week-end fantastique de football américain des Steelers et de festivités au cœur de Paris. Tu as hâte ?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
Now you're just showing off, but sadly I know what you're asking. But all anyone seems to want to know if if you're from Los Angeles or Louisiana??

11:34
Do you believe Germie is turning into our best draft selection from April?  He has definitely earned his hat(a large noticeable one at that) and trust of 8 and MM.  Safe travels to Paris, Gerry.  Taking your sticks?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
He has been very good, and right now looks like getting snookered by the Eagles/Cowboys for Makai Lemon wasn't a bad thing after all

Gerry, it looks like JPJR has become a drama attraction in Dallas. Did the Steelers get out just in time?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
It''s nothing they didn't anticipate. They already had a preview for months here

Hi Gerry, 1/3 of season in the books. What should we be most concerned about at this point?  thanks

The last third

Gerry, with the stadium lease fast approaching, do you think things may get contentious with building a bigger and newer stadium north or east? I would think the taxpayers and businesses who grew on the North Shore would not be happy if moved out of the area.
Gerry Dulac
11:37
I don't think they're building a new stadium in the north or east, especially the east. The last place they would consider. First off, they're not putting a stadium anywhere but where it already is -- in town! Now, a new practice facility, that's a different story. Cranberry the most logical

Gerry, can we just call Jalen Ramsey a safety and be done with it?
Gerry Dulac
11:38
No, because he lines everywhere. Is it OK if they don't?

Gerry, can you help me get over missing George Pickens? He is such a talented, passionate and exciting player. A # 1 receiver! Can you share some specific details about why the Steelers front office felt he was so annoying or detrimental to the team that he had to be dumped despite what he did for the team?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
You think that because you never saw his behavior and what his teammates thought of him. Skipping and being late for meetings and showing up late for games all the time isn't enough for you? It had nothing to do with talent. Nobody questioned that. Which should tell you how bad all that other stuff musta been
Ron
11:40
Hi Gerry, Thanks for indulging us. I know we are ready to put the JPJ issue to rest and excuse my ignorance, but I thought he had a year left on a signed contract so why was he not required to honor it. Thanks

11:41
When Pittman comes back, is he WR3 or does he line up as WR2 but gets targets like he’s a WR3?
Gerry Dulac
11:41
He does and he is. Oops, that's the Porter answer
11:42
Here's the Pittman answer -- 2

Gerry, the Steelers started off good last week by being in prime field position but could not move the ball.  Each week they make correctable errors and minor mistakes.  Overall though, they have a good team that seems to be getting better each week.   Good teams come from behind and correct themselves after playing poorly to win a game.  They are rising..... la creme de la creme!
Gerry Dulac
11:42
I'll let them know you approve

Hey Gerry - We're currently 4-2 while missing 4 starters (R. Wilson, Pittman, Elliott, and Harmon).  Why shouldn't we be excited about the rest of the season?  Which areas cause you the most concern?  ILB?  Special teams?  WR?
