Gerry, I am a Tomlin fan but a 54 yd field goal? And not having the awareness to call timeout before a delay of game at the 1? And let’s leave Nix out when they go with Edmunds on short yardage? Why can’t he be situationally aware?
Gerry Dulac

I have no problem with the 54-yard field goal. Attempts of 50+ yards are commonplace in the NFL anymore because kickers have such strong legs. Boswell does, too, and 54 yards is easily in his range. But he didn't step into that one and thump it. And, as much as you want to think Tomlin is not situationally aware, I will tell you he is aware of EVERYTHING on that field

Have the 'handcuffs' been removed from MR?  Will we see more downfield passing in the future?   (I can't wait until Sunday and see what kind of a start he has against the Colts.)
Gerry Dulac

That's what we will find out. The Colts defense is not to be compared to Miami's, by any stretch. They can be smothering with their man coverage and pressure. Like they always do, they will develop a game plan that best fits the opponent they are playing. If thats means loosening or tightening the "handcuffs," as you call them, so be it.
BOO!

Someone needs to tell young Mason that the boo birds were not just for him but, EVERYONE including the coaching play callers. I know he's shouldering that himself but,  come on. The man had his bell rung, his clock cleaned and a butt hole transplant all in one hit and stepped up to the challenge big time.

I don't think he is suffering from a persecution complex too. I think he is aware they were booing the offense, but he is the QB and the QB always gets the heat as well as the credit

Do any of the players/steelers mention if they read your chats?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Hey, I'm lucky you guys read my chats. But I can't tell you if they do or they don't. I don't presume they do, but that doesn't affect how I answer any question.

Did Rudolph change the play at the line of scrimmage on Johnson’s 45 yd TD? Did he audible much throughout the game?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
I don't know but I will find out

Tomlin suggested that Nix was the sole reason for the run game productivity. I would have thought that showing the willingness to throw the ball down field got the safety off the line. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
I think it's a combination of all that. And a good observation by you

If the Steelers cut Donte Moncrief before Week 10 to save the third-round compensatory pick, can they sign him back in, say, Week 11 if nobody else does with no penalty? If so, seems like a no-brainer.
Gerry Dulac
11:47
No, once they cut him, before he plays 10 games with them, he is no longer considered a compensatory free agent. Signing back with the Steelers would still be considered signing with "another" team.

Be honest, you had that "oh sh$t..here we go again" feeling in the 1st quarter of Monday's game. What is it with Tomlin's team starting slow even to inferior opponents?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
Yep.

Good Day Sir!
Didn't get to watch the game. Did the return of Nix get the running game back on track or is the OL finally adjusting to the road grader mentality?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
Little of both. And it was the Dolphins and the league's No. 31 run defense, don't forget

How is Ed finding the sailing on The Atlantic? You getting a lot of Ahoy Matey's from him...?

Plenty

The Steelers used Vince Williams in packages for pass rushing in place of tuitt, why not Alualu?
Gerry Dulac
11:49
That's was just a few times, not all the time. Mostly, Heyward had either Hargrave or Alualu next to him in sub packages
Hey, this team could go 5-1 or 1-5. You never know.
11:50
OK, kids, that's all the time we have today. Thanx for the questions. Bye now
