OK, kids, we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes, so get those questions ready.
10:57
Ok, here we go.....

Why isn't James Washington getting more snaps on offense?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Cause he's not doing anything when he has received them, that's why. And that's why they sat him down last week.

Hi Gerry, will Steelers activate Eli Rogers soon? Any plans to use him?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
I wouldn't hold your breath. Plus, not exactly like they're in need of receiving threats, based on Ben's production.

Does it make sense for the Steelers to use the roster exemption to get out of paying two weeks when Leveon returns?  It is not like they owe this guy anything and it helps the cap.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Yes, it does help the cap, but I fully expect the Steelers to pay him even if they use the two-week roster exemption. That's the way they do business.

Good morning Sir.
Has Bell looked really good b/c of the offense around him? Conner looks awesome in that same offense but was not rated nearly as high and even considered a “reach” in the draft by the “experts”.
What does it do for Bell’s value on the FA market?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Of course that's a factor. And that's part of why I think Bell's performance in 2017 was average at best. He is running behind arguably the best offensive line in the league on a unit that features two of the best players in the game -- Ben and Antonio Brown. And he averaged 3.9 yards a carry and had only three runs of 20+ yards, none longer than 27. I really wouldn't call that guy a difference maker or a game-changer. Sure, Conner has the same luxury, but he is far out-performing what we saw of Bell last year.

If Bell sits the whole year and the Steelers win the SB do they give him a ring as a thank you for saving them almost $15 mil and giving them a chance to see how great Conner looks…?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
No because that means he will have not signed his tag and therefore is not on their roster

James Washington back in the mix this week after a week of watching Hunter run patterns with zero conviction?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
That's nothing new for JH

Why didn’t we put Matthew Thomas in to close out the game. Seems like a missed opportunity for him to get some reps with the varsity
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I don't think NFL coaches get caught up in developing players as much as they do winning games or closing out games.

Jerry the Defense was very aggressive on Sunday.  New philosophy or were they attacking Mayfield's inexperience?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I think it was more the latter

What would it take to convince  Art 2 to permanently change to the unis they wore Sunday?

They seem to be very popular w the people...and me

Who's the main culprit on that botched free kick?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
The special teams coach. It starts and ends there. It is his job in those somewhat unique circumstances to tell and make sure his guys know the rules and possibilities.

My concern for this team are the slow starts, especially on offense.  They can’t afford to get behind to the Ravens or any other quality team.  Has Coach Tomlin talked about what they will do to address this?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
He talks about it all the time, and that's about all you can do -- talk about it. I don't know of an NFL player alive who thinks, 'Oh, I think I'll start slow and ease into this game." They all come out full of vigor and venom. Granted, some times teams need a little wake-up or kick in the rear to get going, that's just human nature. But it's not like coaches can scheme or game-plan to start faster.

Hi Gerry - I think that Bell's miscalculation on his worth has really benefited the Steelers. They have saved $7MM in cap space, found out Conner's ability, and seem to be rolling. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Of course it has, at least for now

The muff free kick, do you hang that on the ST coach for not notifying the players that it is a live ball?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Yep

Can you put on some good happy music for Ed while he does his chat? He gets a little grumpy with those poor delusional fools that ask stupid questions and I think they should be pitied, but Ed does not seem to agree based on his responses…

I will sing to him

Has Tomlin ever had a coordinator younger than he is? I can't think of one, is there a reason?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
No, but, then, he's a young guy

Any plans for Ola this season?
Gerry Dulac

I hope

Gerry...love your chats.  What is your take on why the Steelers seem to start so slow every season?  It always ends up biting us in the rear when we don't get home field throughout.  We could have really picked up some games on the Pats (since they lost 2), but we didn't.  Thanks and Happy Halloween!
Gerry Dulac
11:15
I hate to tell you, the Patriots seem to start slow every year, too. But they rebound, just like the Steelers. Better to lose early than late, when it really starts to matter

Great articles Gerry,  your opinion, Munchak stays or goes?
Gerry Dulac

Where's he going?

11:16
Hi Gerry - is James Washington not what they thought or just not far along in his development?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
I think it's more the latter. I like James Washington and , frankly, I'm surprised the player I saw in OTAs and training camp has not surfaced at all in the regular season. But he's a rookie and has plenty of time to get comfortable and start doing something. JuJu really didn't do anything until the second half of last season.
