OK, lets get our chat started....

Gerry, Thanks for answering all these questions.  With injuries becoming more and more systemic in the NFL, do you think the league will allow teams to dress all 53 players instead of what they allow now, which I think is 45?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
Jim, I don't think they need to dress 53 players. I think 45 is enough. Maybe they should get one allowance a game to activate a player at halftime because of injury.

Simple solutions for the offense.  Throw a little more to the tight ends, use James Connors more, and go to the no huddle more.  Why aren’t we doing a little more of the above?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
If it was that simple, they'd do that

Hi Gerry. With Bells past concerning injuries it just doesn't make ant sense why Tomlin continues to use him the way he does and not give Conner more chances. It seems to me the Steelers are going to run him for the next two years then dump him. Your thoughts.  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:03
I don't know about running him and dumping him, but I think they have to be more careful w how many touches Bell gets. But I also think there is too much reliance on Bell anyway.

Gerry how is Jarvis Jones doing in Arizona. I havn't heard anything about him at all this year. Have you ?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Nope

Gerry, can Big Ben  decide on his own to go with the No Huddle on a series without consulting the coaches first ?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
No.

I found Haley's explanation yesterday of his offense's lack of success to be rather lame, particularly bringing up Justin Hunter's name. Do you sense whether the players still have confidence in him?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
In Haley? Yes

With limited contact practices, how can the Steelers improve their poor tackling? Shazier, in particular, is often in great position but whiffs. He and others seem to be diving for runners and receivers rather than keeping their feet and wrapping up.
Gerry Dulac
11:04
They can't. Thats the problem. There are no tackling practices to sharpen

11:04
Gerry, how is it the sum of the offensive parts seems to be less than their total?  What has to change to see the offense be elite as their talent suggests they should be?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
Maybe you and everyone else overestimates the talent. Maybe it's not elite. But with 4 All-Pros and a two-time SB winning QB, you would think they'd be better.
Ryno
11:05
How would you rate Watt and Dupree over the last few games?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Watt has been quiet the past couple games. No sacks, little pressure and getting caught inside on runs. But that's all part of living w a rookie's development. Dupree was better in the second half in Indy.

Hi Gerry - is it me or has BJ Finney looked more productive than Ramon Foster this year? Is age catching up to Foster?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
I think Ramon has been fine. That being fine, Finney has played very well when he's had to replace Foster. I will remind you the Steelers top 3 regular-season rushing performances the last two seasons, Finney has been the left guard

Hi Gerry - I thought Ben's accuracy looked much better on Sunday especially when using the no huddle. Do you think part of his woes earlier in the season stem from not getting into enough of a rhythm from running the ball/lack of no huddle?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
That's a big part of it

Gerry, with the team sitting at 7-2, the ultimate thing that only matters is winning at this point. What are the keys to winning this next game, and how are they going to contain the Titans? What areas are most in need to be improved?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
The biggest thing will be not getting fooled by Marcus Mariota, who will be the first quarterback they face this year who runs the read option.

Hi Gerry, did Bell look sluggish to you Sunday?  He kept getting tripped up, dropped a pass, etc.  His wheels seem wobbly barely halfway through the season & they’re barely winning.  Doing the same things repeatedly on O & expecting different results means they could actually get worse, yes?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
He looked a step slow and behind, for some reason. I don't think he is wobbly or anything like that. It was just one of the bad biorhythm days. But he couldn't step away from tacklers or beat anyone outside

Hi Gerry, what is your best guess as to when Haden returns?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
3-4 weeks. Despite what you read, it still has not been determined
jlarugger
11:12
I probably sound like a broken record, but is there any indication that they will start giving Conner more carries as the regular season comes to a close?  It would be nice to have Bell as injury free as possible for the playoff stretch (I know, I know, no player is ever injury free by the end of the season).
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Nope. But I agree w you.

Gerry, thoughts on the WEEKLY subtle shots/shade Big Ben has been throwing Todd Haleys way?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Getting accustomed to them. Kind of like elevator music.

Titans have had some impressive wins (Seahawks, Jags), and bad losses (Texans, Dolphins). Beat the Browns but only scored 12 pts. Which Titans team do you expect to show up Thurs.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
You are right. They put up 37 and 33 points against two of the top 4 defenses in the league (Jax, Seattle) and struggled w the Browns. They have won their last three by 10 points total. But the key, like the Steelers, is they found ways to win.

Any last minute injury updates? Mitchell? Sutton? Haden?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Haden's not playing, in case you haven't heard. Neither is Sutton. Dont know about Mitchell

Gerry,  What is your view on why Ben has struggled with the deep ball?  We are nine games in and the working with new receivers is a lame excuse.  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Well, he hit a 44-yarder on a go route to JuJu in Indy. But he missed MB and got picked on the first series. I'm not sure. Too many overthrows early, now they are under thrown.

Gerry, Any truth "Several Steelers" want Haley in the box during games? Why would they want that?
