Hi Gerry...thanks for the chats...do you agree with your colleague Ray..that Ben R (Super Bowl and exp. qb) should have been pulled for Josh Dobbs...( who has thrown 3 passes in NFL career...? thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:55
I do not. Nor was that EVER going to happen.

Hi Gerry, Happy Thanksgiving in advance.  Regarding team rebuilding process, if the Steelers won it all in Feb and with the additional cap from Bell and Shazier next year would the front office still want to extend Ben?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Of course they would. Why wouldn't they?

Wondering why you think Landry Jones was not in the mix for a QB job with the RedSkins or anyone else as of recent ? Do you know if he is still interested in playing or is it more the other way around. Any teams interested in him ? Think he would be way more solid then Sanchez or the other two they considered ! Happy Holidays
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I can't answer what he feels or thinks, but I am surprised more teams didn't call him and bring him in. He is better than the majority of the backup QBs in the league.

I love how the Steelers finished the Jacksonville game, but why do you think  Big Ben struggles so badly to start some games?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
It's funny, his former college coach, the late Terry Hoeppner, once told me that Ben has always been a slow starter. I even talked to Ben about it and he agreed. Even going back to high school. But I'm not sure there's an exact reason. Maybe it takes him a while to get comfortable. Who knows. Now, I wouldn't categorize "slow" as what happened in Jacksonville. It was more than that.

Gerry...you said the team and you commented that Sean Davis was really better suited for the safety position he is playing this year...and he is definately playing better...what is the difference in the posions from last year
Gerry Dulac
11:04
The difference is he has the speed and athleticism to cover a lot of ground, especially as the last line of defense. Mike Mitchell didn't have that type of ability to cover a lot of ground in his later years. Davis has played very well
Nathan Querry

Hi Gerry!  What can you tell me about Danny Rooney (Art II's son)??  How much is he like his grandfather and great grandfather (Art Sr.)??  What is his role like with the Steelers??
Gerry Dulac
11:08
Young Dan currently has no role with the Steelers because he is back in school obtaining an additional masters degree. But he has worked in just about all facets of the operation of the franchise, including scouting and coach, and even did an internship in the NFL office. He is likely being groomed as the eventual president of the team when his father passes the torch

If Chickillo out, who would you like/think is best to cover his spot out of the three available?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
What three?

Do you believe Washington or Hunter is a better #3 WR at this point?  What is the main issue with each having their troubles?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Washington is better suited, even though he is still learning to adjust to NFL route-running. His problem is he played one side of the field at Oklahoma State and is trying to adapt to lining on both sides and learning more sophisticated tree routes. Give him time. I still believe he will be very good.

Hi Gerry. Ben is having a fantastic year, on track to break several career and franchise records. How much of his success this year do you attribute to a) him simply being more experienced and a smarter player, b) him having a new offensive coordinator, and c) the way his offensive line is playing/protecting him?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Probably all of the above, but don't put too much weight on B because that's not fair to what he did under Todd Haley
Ryno
11:10
Did the Steelers intend to use Eli Roger's this season, or did they just sign him as a makeup for him getting hurt in their final game last season?  Any updates on him?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
It's  not as though they are counting on him and he fits into their plans. He is getting close to be able to practice but don't expect him to be activated any time soon, if at all

Hi Gerry.  Who you got Phil or Tiger?

Happy Thanksgiving!  Your best guess at a final season record?  Also, which of the remaining games do you see as the toughest?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
I have not and will not waver from what I predicted at the start of the season -- 12-4. With a little luck, 13-3; with not a lot of luck, 11-5. They are on track, even though I know there is a tie.

Why do you think JAX had more success running in the first half than in the second half?  I know Tomlin told you there were no adjustments, but they must have done something.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Yeah, they got off their blocks and tackled, simple as that. And they got Dan McCullers the heck out of there.

Gobble gobble from Asia. I didn’t see much of Morgan Burnett vs the Jags. Any reason why? Thanks !
Gerry Dulac
11:16
He played 22 of the 68 snaps. He wasn't out there as much because the Jaguars were relying so much on the run with Fournette that there was no reason to play a lot of dime defense. Terrell Edmunds has become the starter and will remain the starter in the base defense. The Steelers will be careful of how many snaps they give Burnett because he has had a lot of problems with soft-tissue injuries.

Hi Gerry, Ramsey's comments about other QB's, especially calling Josh Allen trash seem to be incredibly off putting to the public.  Yet if rumors are true about him being traded he would be wanted in so many locker rooms.  Obviously GM's want to win but why do so many players with devisive personalities get brought into locker rooms?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
No kidding. He is symptomatic of too many professional athletes these days and one of the reasons fans get turned off by locker-room cancers such as he. To answer the last part -- because some GMs and owners are so desperate to win they will tolerate talented but behaviorally challenged players like Ramsey. Just look at the Bengals and the countless morons they tolerated all those years. Two of them cost them a playoff game against the Steelers and all the Bengals did after that was give one of them a $20 million extension and a team captaincy. So who are the real morons??

11:24
Hi Gerry... Why do teams  with QB needs (this time the Redskins), who actually have an opportunity for the playoffs, choose to tank their season rather than bring in Kap? at least for a work out... He's better than the laundry list of QBs that they do look at.
Gerry Dulac
11:25
I'm not sure what a lot of coaches and GMs look for in a backup QB anymore, especially when I see the ones on NFL rosters.

Gerry, As talented as players like Bell and Ramsey are, the other issues and drama they bring certainly offset that.  For my team give me team oriented character guys like Campbell and Heyward and we will likely win more championships.
Gerry Dulac
11:29
To me, you will never EVER win with players like that. I'm not going to put Bell in that category because he is not like Ramsey or some of the others I mentioned in the previous answer. Bell was not and never was a disruptive influence in the locker room. He was a good teammate who comported himself well. I did not agree with his public comments before the Jaguars playoff game last year, but let's face it, his coach set the table for that at least a month earlier with what he said to Tony Dungy on national TV. Character guys are committed to win. Not those others.

The Steelers have a history of performing poorly in Denver. Many have suggested the reason for this is the thin air in high altitude. Is this a legitimate excuse? If it were, wouldn't all visiting teams fare poorly there?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
It wasn't a factor in that 2005 AFC Championship game.
