Help me out here Gerry.......so many so called Steelers fans ready to call for Tomlins firing when the ship is not sailing absolutely positively perfect. My question.....and hire who?   Your thoughts...

Here's what you tell those clowns -- 17-3 in the last 20 games.

In your opinion should steelers use J Conner more often as change of pace, especially in second half? Le'veon lulls them to sleep and Conner comes shot out of a cannon.
Gerry Dulac

It couldn't hurt, though I'm not advocating a steady diet of JC

I think that people are getting way ahead of themselves in declaring the Steeler’s offence as “back”. They had a decent half against the Titans, were still unable to establish the run game and were the recipient of 4 turnovers often giving them great field position. While it was nice to see Ben look sharper in the second half, consistency is still to be proven. Given this, the defense has been holding its own but the punt return team seems to be an afterthought? A.B. seems to have no desire to return a punt so why don’t they try someone else on occasion to see if they can develope some punch to this team??

As I like to say, time will tell. You're right, let's wait a couple games to see what they have.

Gerry, longtime Steeler fan, first time posting. Do you believe that this is the Steelers team that finally gets over the New England hump and gets Lombardi #7?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Again, we shall see. So much will depend what happens Dec. 17 at Heinz Field. That game could very well be for the No. 1 seed. Of course, other things can happen before and after that. But I'm never going to say they will beat Brady in NE until I see it happen.

Do you think the Steelers might take Gisicki in the first round?  He seems like more of a second rounder because of his questionable blocking.
Gerry Dulac

Forgot that can't-block nonsense. They're not looking for a plow horse. They want a thoroughbred. Guess what, Antonio Brown can't block, either. I have already predicted he will be their No. 1 pick if he's on the board that late.

Is Mitchell's contract up after this season?
Gerry Dulac

No, after 2018

Gerry, with the Steelers starting to click on all cylinders, there are still things for them to work on very much so. Tackling, playcalling, red zone chances, and secondary are just a few things to note. This team is far from reaching their full potential, and yet at the same time, they aren’t being talked about enough as a truly elite team. What are the keys for this team heading into tonight and beyond? If you were to assess the team, where is their Achilles heel even though they are on top of the AFC?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
They don't have many. Look, no team does EVERYTHING well. Just as long as you do the important things well and other things very well. And I beg to differ. Have you looked at recent Super Bowl odds? Seems a lot of people think the Steelers are elite enough

Gerry. 8-2 is a great start and wins are wins even when they aren’t pretty. Great season so far. Everybody seems to think all is well with the Steelers offense and I really liked what I saw from Ben and crew on Thursday night, however it is one game. Do you think they have turned the corner thier struggles on offense? Are they better served with a pass first offense or was that just what worked best against the Titans? Also, not happy with Gilbert’s suspension but at least it will give him 4 more weeks to get the hamstring 100%.
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I think (and hope) what they learned from the Tenn game is to let the offense run through Ben and use all his weapons, not just rely sooooo much on LeV Bell. As always, the team will go only as far as Ben takes them. Especially if they have to be beat NE to get there

If things go as planned and the Steelers and New England are even going into their meeting at Heinz, do you think they will show some things they have been saving up for them that they haven't seen? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:04
They will be doing whatever they have to do to beat them.

Ed says he's off on Friday and never gets to talk to Harrison since that is the day HE talks.  Do you talk to him?  How is he doing?  I like the old time Steelers that train the new guys and keep the old work ethic going.  Going to miss him when he retires.  Looking forward to some late season and playoff heroics (like taking down Brady a few times).
Gerry Dulac
11:05
I do talk to him, but I wouldn't sit there and think the Steelers are "saving" him for some late-season and/or playoff heroics, as though he is some sort of expensive aged wine they are saving for just the right occasion.

Gilbert isn’t dumb. How hard is it to match what goes in the mouth with the list of banned substances? Or do players just roll the dice hoping they won’t get caught?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
They know what they are doing. They have trainers, doctors, nutritionists and conditioning coaches. Inadvertent is not an excuse.

Hi Gerry. Aside from the players staying healthy, what do you believe the keys are - on each side of the ball - in order for the Steelers to win the Super Bowl this season?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Offense -- score points. Defense -- prevent points.

At this point in the season who do you think are the top 3 teams (in order please).
Gerry Dulac
11:07
1) Philadelphia 2) New England 3) Steelers

Hi Gerry, thank you for your time. How concerned are you about our secondary? No Haden and they are giving up huge plays on a weekly basis. Thank you sir
Gerry Dulac
11:08
They just started giving up those big plays. Let's give Sensabaugh a little time. I'm more worried that Artie Burns has been beat over the top a couple times. I think he's trying to hard to make that interception

Has Watt hit the rookie wall?  Should the use of Harrison be considered to give Watt or another OLB a rest?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
He has not had a sack in past three games, but he has blocked a FG and made couple nice plays in pass defense. But he was hired to sack the QB. Need to see some of that going forward.

Gerry what are your thoughts on Artie Burns? I think most fans are being too hard on him. Yes he needs to work on tackling and not getting looking in the backfield but I think most forget he's a 2nd year player and will only continue to improve.
Gerry Dulac
11:10
I agree, but he does not tackle well and, like I said, earlier, I think he's trying a little too hard to make that splash play. He's getting beat a couple times because of that.
11:11
They have pro personnel people who scout other teams, plus they go back and rely on what they thought about players coming out in the draft.

Hi Gerry from beautiful Nova Scotia.  It was obvious to me that something was off with Bell during the Colts game.  Fatigue is an obvious possible factor. Have you heard anything about a possible minor injury that he may be dealing with?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Nope. None. He is fine.

Hi Gerry.  Artie seems to be playing well this year overall despite being burned for a couple of long touchdowns the last few games.  Overall how do you rate Artie Burns play this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Well, it's those long TDs you reference.....
11:13
Of course it would make more sense. But that's easier said than done. How do you propose getting a franchise QB when you're drafting around the 30th spot?
Doug from Allen, TX

Happy Thanksgiving Gerry! In your opinion, can you compare home field advantage at Heinz field versus Three Rivers.  When great teams play/played in Pittsburgh, which venue is/was more intimidating?  Still miss Three Rivers!
