Hi Gerry, Will LB Matthew Thomas get on the field this season?  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:18
As a regular contributor in the defense, no, not unless there are injuries.

Gerry - Off topic, but have you ever played Spyglass?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Yes, once. Loved it, though not as much as Pebble
Stacey
11:18
Do you think we’ll put a spy on cam? I think the only way he beats us is with his legs
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Yes. Wouldn't be surprised if it's Dupree. Has to be somebody who is big and can run. Probably Burnett in the dime defense.

Gerry, the my main concern is not letting go of Munchak...ever...if at all possible. What can we offer him that might keep him in Pitt while teams come calling for his services in the off-season? I understand salary may be an issue, but could he be promoted somehow? I believe he has been the reason why the offense works and it all starts with the OL that he keeps top tier every year. Do you have any insight on this?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Of course, they'd love to keep Munchak, but they would never stand in his way if he had opportunity to become a head coach. One of the things they did this year when he declined a second interview with Arizona was to pay him more money and give him a contract like a coordinator, much like they did with Keith Butler back when Dick LeBeau was the DC.

Why have the Steelers had so many problems at the cornerback position for so many years?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
They haven't drafted ones good enough to hang around for a second contract. Since Mike Tomlin has been coach, only one drafted cornerback has ever received a second contract -- William Gay.

Jerry, I'm feeling some optimism about this Steelers D.  Seems to me Hargrave and McCullers, maybe the other beefy interior guys, don't receive any pub and maybe that's because of sack totals.  How are they doing?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
Well, in some instances, like in Baltimore, they aren't receiving a lot of playing time either. The Steelers were in their sub packages 87 percent of the time against the Ravens. 87!!! That's a lot

Bruce Irvin said that Steelers and Patriots offered him more money but he chose his hometown falcons
Gerry Dulac
11:25
That's what he said.

Why didn’t Bell’s agent just advise him to hold out last year?  He’d have his long term contract with another team by now and a lot more money in the bank.
Gerry Dulac
11:27
I'm not sure Bell is listening to his agent. If you recall, his agent agreed to a Steelers contract in 2017, only to have Bell nix the offer

Very few ILB have the athleticism of Shazier, but I think Bostic has quietly been a very solid replacement. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
He's been very solid for them

Gerry, The Falcons signed Bruce Irvin today.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
I know
James Ryan
11:28
Bruce Irvin was quoted saying he was offered by the Patriots and Steelers.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
I see that
Jesse
11:28
Just wondering, what if I dropped that ball? That could have been ugly....
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Ugh.
Jra
11:28
Gerry, do you believe as I do...if the front 7 does not become more consistent in pass rush the back end will break down against...Brady...Brees...Mahommes
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Well, I hate to tell you, I think their pass rush has been more than consistent the past 4-5 games.

Having won three big games in a row, do we have one more in us against the Panthers?  It would be nice to see a home win.
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Of course they do. And then some.

The Irvin reports came from Irvin. He said the Pats and Steelers offered more money, but he wanted to play for his hometown Falcons.
Gerry Dulac
11:30
I see, I see. Thanx

Hi Gerry, first time long time. Love your work. Defense has played much better as of late. I think Haden is the key, along with the pass rush. But why do the defensive backs never face the ball to make a play, especially when in the end zone and step for step with receiver?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I can't answer that specifically, but I will say they tend to be in that position when playing man coverage, just like every other CB playing man coverage around the league. It's the good ones who are able to run and still get their head around to hunt the ball

Would it be a possible scenario, if Conner stays healthy but Bell returns, to have Bell inactive on game days to keep him from disrupting the offensive rhythm while basically paying him to not play elsewhere this season?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
No, not if he's ready to play, whenever that is. If he's on the roster, at $853k per week, he will play in some form.

Don't you read the BR or ProFootball talk any other outlets?  Irvin said himself Pats and Steelers offered more $$
Gerry Dulac
11:32
No. You?
