Gerry, what are your thoughts on Espn's article stating Minkah and TJ are over-rated?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I didn't read it and I don't have to. Ridiculous
Jeff

Thanks for the chats Gerry.  Whereas yes the past couple games have been better why did it take so long to get here?  The OC has been here TWO years, the first being the Ben blame game.  Then multiple practices, 3 pre season games, 10 regular season games to figure it out?  Every team has change.  Every OL has change.  They figure it out much earlier that Canada.  I hope the finish doesn't dictate the future
Gerry Dulac
10:20
Because their QB is a rookie

Gerry, I was glad to see the Steelers go back to the quick slant across the middle to DJ that he and Ben had so much success with, do you think we'll see more of that (provided DJ actually turns up field)?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
Provided DJ holds on to it

Anybody who thinks they should retain Canada, including your colleague,  hasn’t watched the 2nd half of games last few weeks correct?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I'm looking for some money to pay this guy

Is there any more frustrating receiver to watch than Diontae? between his backwards running, drops, fumbles he makes some great plays but man I dont feel like I should be grinding my teeth everytime the ball goes to him
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Let me say this about DJ, which is why it makes his play so puzzling: No receiver on the team can get open like him and no receiver works harder or longer before games and before and after practice on catching the ball than DJ.

10:23
Hey Gerry, how would you make Diontae Johnson a bigger part of the offense and more effective?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Have him catch the ball.

You continue too insist taking a QB last year was the wrong move because they need OL and DL help. They had needs at all 3 spots so isn’t taking the guy THEY feel was a long time franchise QB and the best QB in the draft better than taking the 5th or 6th best OL or 4th or 5th best DL available…again provided they feel the QB is “that guy”?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
You're right about one thing -- I do continue to insist that.

Gerry, I think the Steelers have an obligation to the paying public to try to win every game.  Yet this seems to be controversial.  Is there any correlation between winning and drafting that shows tanking would actually improve future years' results?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
None whatsoever, at least as far as the Steelers are concerned. Mike Tomlin is interested in one thing and one thing only -- winning. He'll worry about a draft choice in April

Do you think Chris Boswell will be back this week? Would Wright still be able to be retained in some capacity?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Yes and probably, though on the practice squad until someone claims him.

GM Gerry! Thanks for all your great chats! Do you think the WRs coach is not good enough so the WR corps is at most average?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
I'm not going to entirely blame the WR coach for players dropping the ball or not getting open. But, think what you want, when they traded Claypool, that's one less proven receiver the defense has to worry about. It can't be very hard to defend the Steelers passing game.

Gerry, nice to see PIckett get Dionte more involved last week but the game breaker wide receiver if the Steelers have one is Pickens.  Once Pickett got the job I figured he would try and get Pickens the ball more in a 50-50 situation.  Do you not think that Pickett needs to trust Pickens to either come down with a catch  get a PI or at the least an incomplete pass with more down the field passes?  As we have seen the Steelers move the ball but can't seem to finish off most drives.  I really think trying to hit on more big plays to Pickens should be part of every game plan.  Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
I think George Pickens needs to find ways to get open, more than anything. You can't make a living always trying to win 50-50 balls.

Hi Gerry, Got to find a way to get the ball to Pickens ?  Last week it was "Slim" Pickens.  1 catch for 2 yards. Yoi !
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Like I said, defending the Steelers passing game should not be a difficult task for a DC

Did my question about the QB hs OL/DL make too much sense for you to respond to?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
No

10:33
With the improved play of the OL, it might work out that the Steelers might need a center and lg and not need a LT. If this would happen, what position should the Steelers go for with their 1st Rd pick?  I say a CB if one of the two best are still on the board. If not, a 1/2 DL.  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
Ok, yes, but only if one the top 2 is there, not 3-4-5th. Center is not their need. If they draft an OL with the top pick, pretty much rest assured it will be a LT.

Gerry, I could never fathom why those who think a higher draft pick is better than winning games.  Winning brings way more upside than draft selections.  Comment?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
That's because those people don't understand the nature of the game, not to mention the business of the game

Good Morning Gerry - Any chance the Steelers could transition DJ to corner back during the off season where catching the ball is not the top priority?  Seriously how critical is finding another Receiver for 2023?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
What part of your question is serious?? If it's the latter, I'll say it's important, but not critical. Somewhere around the fourth round, no higher than the third

From Barry Sanders, to Andrew Luck and Tuitt, among others, these players cash their signing bonus checks, retire and don't fulfill the contract.  Why is it that they don't have to return the money?  Seems a player can sign a contract, quit the next day and walk away with millions of dollars.  Doesn't seem right to me.
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Ok, turn the question around -- why do teams give players all that money up front to sign them if they know that can happen?? Because that's the business of the game
Kelso from Orlando

I really wanna see them get Porter JR in the draft... I'm guessing he would have to be a 1st round pick.. assuming he's there when they pick.. think there is a chance they take him?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Yes, I think there is a chance, but I'llknow more about that in March
