My man ....Good morning Big Ed!

Hello Gerry, do you think the steelers bounce back on Sunday? According to the national media we are 0-12 and receiving the first round pick
Gerry Dulac
9:52
Haha. The Steelers typically respond w their best when people start to doubt them. Plus, during this pandemic w little or no fans in a stadium, I think it favors the visiting team.

Are these dink and dunk passes being called by Ben or by the OC, they need a better offensive scheme or they will be losing a few more games.
Gerry Dulac
9:55
A little of both. Ben and Randy Fichtner develop a play sheet during the week that they agree upon, keeping plays Ben likes and discarding ones he doesn't like. So plays that are sent in are to ben's liking, but he can always change to another depending on the defense.

I'm feeling like the end is near. Predictable offense with absolutely no running game. Receivers can't catch the ball. Injuries are starting to pile up on the defensive side of the ball...we has a good run.
Gerry Dulac
9:57
Relax Ed....11-1 and still holding the No. 1 seed. They're fretting in KC too because their defense can't stop anybody. And in Seattle too because the Seahawks scored just 12 points at home and lost to the Giants. I hear you with the two key injuries on defense. You just have to hope there aren't anymore. These two were bad enough for them.
Salvatore

do you think Spillane injury will hold him several weeks ???
Gerry Dulac
9:57
At least one game and possibly two.

So Gerrard, Now that the season is in fact over. Can we turn our attentions to the 2021 draft and running back prospects. Oh that is premature?  No! All the injuries. The ineptitude on offense. Aging line. 38 yr old Rozzenbagger?? Sorry folks its over. And Steelers finish 12-4 and browns win division.
Gerry Dulac
9:58
No

Gerry. In your opinion what do you make of the administrative stop of the clock Monday at the mustard bowl?   Worst single sequence of officiating I've ever seen in all me years. And im 22
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Ha....Terrible. Never seen such a call.
Benson DuBois

It's time to give Dobbs a hat, and let him run the wildcat in appropriate situations, like first and goal at the 1.
Gerry Dulac
9:59
Funny you say that, I was just thinking the same thing earlier. And I was because Randy Fichtner needs to find creative ways to improve the run game and gain a yard when necessary. They need to try something. What they are doing isn't working.

Do you think the last two games without Pouncey made Ben more likely to get the ball out quicker and take the short quick routes due to protection concerns?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
Maybe a pinch, but he's been getting rid of the ball faster than any quarterback in the past 5 years all season. So that's not anything new.

Is David Decastro in decline? If so should Dotson replace him?  Also, why wouldn’t they use one less receiver and just have Watt block for Connor and for Ben in passing situations so he’ll have more time for routes to open up?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
DeCastro has been playing with a bad knee all season so I'm not going to indict him for being "in decline," as you say. When they use him, they need to line him in the backfield, as a lead blocker, not put him on the wing as a tight end like they've been using him. If you're going to do that, put in another OL or Mondeaux at that spot. Just don't put Ebron.

Steelers need to expand passing game and start throwing down the field more. Is it too late in the year to move receivers around? JuJu’s talents are not being utilized in the slot. I’d like to see him catch the ball in space more.
Gerry Dulac
10:04
I think the word is extend, not expand, for what that have to do with the passing game. Way way way too many throws for a team that has been playing with the lead the vast majority of the season. Washington game prime example. Leading 14-0 and 14-3 into the second half and you throw 53 times??? You kidding me.
Run game 0
10:04
Gerry, don’t the OL pull guards and run like Faneca used to do. It appears the blocking schemes in running plays are just upfront very plain straight ahead not to mention always running out of the shotgun. Fundamentally flawed. Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
10:05
They do pull. But I agree with your latter observation

10:05
With one among many reasons for the problems with the running game being the decline in the performance of David DeCastro, does it appear to you more likely that he has not recovered from the knee and abdominal injuries incurred earlier this season or that age has taken its toll on another member of the offensive line?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
His knee I'm sure is an issue, but also when Pouncey isn't in there he has to make sure he's helping the center.

No question, just want to say that you and the PG team do a great job, and I really enjoy the chats and interactions you have w your readers!  Keep up the good work!

Hi Gerry. IMO the loss was good in two ways. 1) It was to an NFC team. 2) It may ignite a spark to correct what needs to be corrected for this stretch run. Am I wrong for looking at the positives in losing (instead of taking the "chicken little" approach several fans have)? Bonus question: How about the Steelers FINALLY moving away (not even on the practice squad) from that Defensive phenom McCullers? Thanks Gerry
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Yes, the loss in general and to an NFC team in particular was good for several reasons. I don't know about serving as a spark, but it will take the specter of an unbeaten season off their back before it became a heavy pressure. Also, losing to an NFC team does not affect their conference record, which is the second tiebreaker used if they tie with KC for the best record in the AFC. And, right now, the Steelers (8-0) have the better conference record than KC (8-1). But I will say a loss to the Bills on Sunday could end up being costly because the third tiebreaker is won/loss percentage against common opponents. Right now, the Chiefs are 5-0 against common opponents (Denver, Houston, Baltimore, Buffalo) and the Steelers are 4-0. The only remaining common opponent is Buffalo. A loss would make them 4-1.

Shouldn't Washington have been called for a delay of game penalty at the end of the first half
Gerry Dulac
10:15
There shouldn't have been a stop in the clock at all. Big gaffe by the officials
Tampa Too

Gerry. Thanks for the chat. Whatever happened to the quarterback sneak on this team? Nothing else seems to be working for a short yardage situations
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Cant hurt to try, right? Nothing else works

Do you do the chats so early to weed out the awful questions and rhetoric usually on these Chits Chats?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
So early?? It's mid-morning. And practice beckons

How much of the Steelers struggles with running last year and this year might be attributable to Mike Munchak leaving?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
When you lose a coach like Mike Munhcak, everything suffers
