OK kids, I'm here in Minneapolis, where it's 20 degrees and snow is already on the ground, ready for our weekly chat. We'll start in about 10 minutes.
10:52
OK kids, here we go.....

Does 9/6/1 get the Steelers in the playoffs? I’m not counting on them getting 10 wins.
Gerry Dulac
10:52
No because that's only 16 games, according to my math

Some big name players released in the past couple days. Anyone worth signing, especially if the Steelers win tonight to stay in the hunt?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
Only if there would be a significant injury

10:53
Is it possible that our first offensive play doesn’t have to be a run up the middle for two yards
Gerry Dulac
10:54
Anything is possible. In fact, I'm betting the first play is a deep sideline pass to Claypool

10:54
Why not try to run the no huddle for a whole game?  The potential reward seems obvious, and I just don’t see any risk.
Gerry Dulac
10:54
The risk is you tire out your offense with little chance to substitute. That's more than the risk,. that's the danger

What would it take to get Kenny Pickett in the draft , if the steelers want him?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
I'm not sure, nor am I sure right now if the Steelers would want him or not

Matt Canada has taken a lot of shots during this initial season. I have believed a lot of the criticism to be unfair, and I feel that TD to Johnson showed he can dial up a creative an effective play at the right time. Besides, how creative can an offensive coordinator be with a brand new offensive line that started two rookies? People have been asking for more no huddle - but if Ben is calling plays and changing protections that the O-line messes up, Canada could have gotten Ben killed. Would you think it fair to say that the play calling in the first half of the season was hamstrung more by personnel than the abilities of the coordinator?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
With so many new faces and new terminology on offense, it isn't fair to judge any them from the early portion of the season, including Canada. Remember, too, just because a play is sent in doesn't mean it's a bad call. It just might be a play that needs to be changed because of the defensive look they are getting

I don't understand something, Gerry! Most Steeler media and fans talk about a wild card. I think they will win the North. Your thoughts
Gerry Dulac
10:59
I don't

Gerry, do you think the Steelers will pickup the 5th year option on Devin Bush next March? Do you think they will try and resign T. Edmunds?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
Signing Edmunds will depend on him -- what does he think he might get in the free-agent market.  And I think the Steelers will wait on Bush till they see him fully recovered from his ACL injury

Appreciate your time with these chats Gerry and greatly admire your work. I believe those who overly criticize Colbert's draft history (and there have been misses), aren't giving him and the scouts credit for remaining a competitive contender year in and year out while consistently picking in the middle to bottom third of the draft. That said, if Colbert retires after this or next season, is there any inside info you can share on  Brandon Hunt as his possible replacement (i.e. should we feel ok or a bit nervous)? Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:03
I agree with you. Their draft history is impressive, especially with No. 1 picks, when you consider they are picking from the bottom third of the draft most years.  And I think Brandon Hunt would definitely be in line to replace Colbert when he decides to leave. He has studied under KC a long time and knows his stuff

The o line seemed to both pass block better and open up holes in the run game better on Sunday. Did we finally find a line combo that works?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I will admit some holes were there for sure. It was the first time all season I saw Najee hit holes at full speed, knowing there was a hole.

Only one game in but I was impressed with Adams play at NT. We finally find the piece we've needed since losing Alualu?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
It was one game. Let's not go crazy. But I agree -- he did the job necessary

Gerry....Do you know if any reporter has had interaction with Tuitt this year, and, do you think he'll be back for next year?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
You mean like me, his former radio co-host?

Tj is on pace to break the Strahan's single season sack record even without the 17th game. If he breaks it theres no way he doesn't get DPOY right?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I would tend to agree with you. Hey, I'm  starting to get worried -- I'm agreeing with too many of you. What's up with that??
Dave Moody
11:06
Hello, Gerry, and Merry Christmas. If this is truly Ben's last year, what would be your top three plays during his ridiculously storied career, and what QB would you draft out of this years class?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Not sure I could even begin to name his top 3 plays because there have been so many. And this year...none
Jerry
11:08
Zack Cunningham just got let go. Do you think the Steelers put in a claim for him?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
Well, if you see the reasons the Texans released him, the answer would be no

is the James Pierre experiment over?  Witherspoon played well. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
It's not an experiment. The Steelers like Pierre. They felt he had lost some confidence after all those long TD passes. So it was time to make a change to Witherspoon, who, yes, played well and will stay there -- at least until Haden comes back

Does Tomlin spend more time planning his words than game planning?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
No, but his vocabulary, you have to admit, is impressive though at times repetitive.

With the Texans releasing Inside LB Cunningham who is only 26yrs old and the Steelers lack of production at this position doesn't it seem like a perfect fit both short and long term? Should the Steelers be interested? Are they interested?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
No. And no. You check this guy out yet? You see why the Texans said it was an easy decision to release him??
Just a fan
11:11
Who would be our back up punter if Harvin were to get hurt in a game? Would that be Ben? I think Bradshaw might have punted a few times back in the day, right?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
No, it would be Boswell
