OK kids, get ready cause we're starting our chat in just a bit.....

I’d like to see Kenny Pickett start for the 2-11 Raiders for the rest of the season. He could turn out to be the next Geno Smith, ironically, and lead the team to some victories. This would prove Tomlin and the Steelers were foolish to bring in Russell Wilson and force Super Bowl winning QB Kenny “he did it to himself” Pickett out of Pittsburgh. Are you with me on my idea?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Sure Bill. But is Pete Carroll?
bill
10:01
good morning Gerry, thanks for the chats , since the Steelers have handcuffed 2 or 3 HOF QB's over the last several years, why would a QB want to sign with them in the future
Gerry Dulac
10:02
bill, that's just a soft cast on Rodgers' hand, not handcuffs

gerry, is there any evidence, other than last year when Art Rooney 2 said his mail box is full, that Art Rooney 2 has any idea just how angry the fan base is with this team?  More to the point - does he have any idea a growing number of fans hold him accountable for the boring, consistently inconsistent and at times apathetic product he is selling us ?  High odds this question bc its related to Arty never sees the light of pg chat. Art is a protected and endangered species for the press.
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I talk to him quite frequently, actually, and I'm sure he is well aware of all the things you mention, though the part about the apathy might not immediately register concerning a team that is one of only three that has been in first place since Week 1

Good morning Gerry and thanks for the chats. Can we all just agree that no matter what the outcome was last Sunday, the Steelers were always going to pick up MT’s option in March, and he was never getting fired. Barring some crazy complete downfall, this is his job until HE decides he’s done with it. Whether we all agree with that is a whole different story.
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Correct
TorturedFan
10:06
Hypothetical; IF tomlin were to ever voluntarily leave would Art Rooney EVER hire a young dynamic offensive mind? Or will we just get tomlin 2.0 without the talented team he inherited.
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Well, their last three head-coaching hires were all defensive guys, and how has that worked out?
Bill in LA
10:07
Art Rooney’s marching orders to “win a playoff game” caused Khan to sign a bunch of over the hill players for a quick fix, rather than build a real Steeler's team. Would you agree Rooney's good intentions may have been more damaging than helpful in the long run?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
That's what we're going to find out Bill, but I get your point
Bill in LA
10:08
Would you kindly speculate on which tight ends will be on the roster next year?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I know two for sure
Lou
10:08
Hey Gerry. After losing to the Bills the sky was falling. Beat the Ravens and things are much more rosy. Where is the middle ground regarding winning that home playoff game?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Lou, there is no middle ground with fans. And even some in the media.

Hi Gerry - thanks for the chats. I was reading a stat about when Derrick Harmon is healthy and playing, the defense holds team to less than 100 yards rushing per game. Is one player that significant to stopping the run for the defense or is it just coincidence of the teams we are playing?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
In the nine games Harmon has played, opponents average 96 yards rushing per game. In the four he did not, opponents average 191.2 yards rushing per game. But, yeah, it could be a coincidence. And it could also be telling
Jesse James

Greetings Gerry; sorry to beat this dead horse some more, but regarding Likely’s non-TD catch, what if he was close to the sideline and his third step was out of bounds, after having possession and two feet inbounds, would it still have been ruled incomplete?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
No, it would have been a touchdown and that's why that rule is so stupid and bad. The ruling the other day was correct. It's the rule that's ridiculous.

Ok Gerry, got through the Ravens game on a positive note.  I truly feel bringing in veterans for Roger’s to just have on the field gave him more confidence, I know he is uber confidant but you know what I mean.  The Dolphins have feasted on lesser opponents recently, but they will score on the Steelers, but I feel we score more.  AFC is wide open. Do you think Tomlin wants to be here?  I think he likes the attention of being the senior NFL coach, but he must feel he has to win one more championship here, right?  Thanks Gerry keep up the great work
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Do not go to sleep on the Dolphins. They have been on a roll and are scoring points. And they can run the ball. As for Tomlin, if he didn't want to be here, he would've just bowed out of his contract already. And he is not the senior NFL coach, just the coach with the longest tenure w one team
Josh

We all believe the plan for the next draft is to hopefully grab the QB of the future. But let’s say the Steelers win the division and somehow win a playoff game and end up picking in the mid to late 20’s. Do you think they may reverse course and try to sign another aging vet QB or try to convince the one they have now to play one more season in 2026? Leading them to possibly grab another position in the 26 draft and worry about the QB in 2027?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Josh, I don't think that's going to matter. They know what they have to do, what they want to do and what they intend to do. Let's see if they can actually pull it off. But I don't think anything is altering their draft plan
Ned Ryerson
10:16
I know he did not take the Penn State job - likely because Indiana threw a ton of money at him - but do you think the Steelers may entice a Mr. Curt Cignetti to see if he can win at the professional in say a couple years?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
No
Dennis
10:16
If the Steelers end up picking between 17-21 in the draft, how aggressive do you think they’ll be to try and get into the top 3-4 to get a QB they love? Or will they just let the chips fall where they may since the price will be very steep?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
They have a plan and we'll see how they plan to execute it. But, like I said, the plan is not likely to change

Dear Gerry . Thank you as always for the chat . Last week , you absolved Omar Khan of any blame in trades and signings of the likes of Pickens and Slay , implying that front office does what Tomlin wants . Even if it is the case , the blame still lies with Khan as he is the GM and Tomlin is not . If that’s what Mr. Rooney wanted , he could have made Tomlin the GM . Was this the case during Colbert era as well ? If that’s the case , then let’s give credit to Tomlin for drafting all the good players during Colbert era . The reason I am pushing back against this narrative that let’s blame Tomlin for everything is that some people run with this narrative with other motives based in hate . Yes , the man has his warts , most notably not allowing get a capable DC and let him run his schemes in the changing NFL landscapes . But let’s not throw him under the bus for everything . What say you ? Thank you .

I say what you mentioned -- you take the good with the bad. If you're going to criticize, then also applaud. You can't get them all right. And I wasn't just implying

Hi Gerry! Good morning, got 2 questions for you. Do you think the elevation of MVS and Thielen  means they will see more playing time than Roman Wilson? Also, if this team wins the division and loses in the wild card similarly to years past do you think we’ll see any shakeup with the coordinators, or will Smith and Austin stay put?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
That was one game and we'll see how it shakes out going forward. I don't think MVS convinced anyone who matters that he needs to play. Conversely, I think you will see Thielen be more involved. On the play where Rodgers pass was batted back to him, he was going down the field to Thielen, who was wide open for a TD

Gerry if we set the wayback machine to Ben's retirement, how would you have handled to QB situation? I often wonder if they had rolled with Mason win or lose, would they have been further ahead by now in their QB follies?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I think you and everyone else would have to agree Aaron Rodgers has been better than expected.
Scott in NC
10:22
My enthusiasm for Randolph has cooled, but I think the Steelers have a much better chance of winning with him in there. He bailed them out two years ago. Rodgers is fine with solid protection, but he is just too slow against a decent pass rush, and there is no future. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Scott, I do not, and I like Mason Rudolph a lot
Wilder

Hi Gerry. Did you have any odds at the beginning of the season that Ben may get passed by not one, not two, but possibly three QBs on the all time passing list? I can’t believe Indy is reaching so far to bring back Rivers but then maybe they were inspired by Flacco. I’m guessing Ben is happy to opine at home on his podcast.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I think the Colts were inspired to bring in Rivers because of their injuries, not by Flacco. The difference is, Flacco was not far removed from playing when he was re-signed. And he was 37 or 38 when he jumped back into the league. Rivers is 44 and hasn't played in five years.
