It doesn't need renewed. He's good through the 2027 season

It seemed like last week Dugger's injury was significant enough to sideline him,  but they did enough on defense to win, what are the chances this week against a hot dolphins team?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
You mean if he's play? If he's heathly, he will start. And I didn't see anything against the Ravens to change my mind or, more important, theirs

Hi Gerry, thanks for the chats. Which coach in the AFC North has the hottest seat? And I think you can throw the Bills HQ in there as well.
Gerry Dulac
10:46
Should take a lot to ponder. The guy in Cleveland. Not even close. But that mess is not his fault.
Greenwood
10:47
Gerry, Now that LC Greenwood is one of the three seniors candidate that can be voted on by HoF voters, will you be able to make a case for him before the group?
Drives me crazy when people use the "there are too many Steelers" or "All the players from the 70's can't be hall of famers" excuses. All my life when I, or others, talk about those 4 Super Bowls, LC's name is always part of the discussion.
Gerry Dulac
10:51
LC gets a presentation, along with the other seniors, coach and contributor, when the selection committee meets next month. And you're right, any type of bias like that should not be a factor. I have only been on the committee for several years now and I have never heard that. Then again, none of the 70s Steelers were up for discussion while I've been on the committee so there would be no reason to hear anything like that. I'm glad LC is going to be part of the discussion.

Is there a reason they don’t move TJ around more? Is he resistant to it?
Gerry Dulac

You'd have to ask Teryl Austin

Do you think our perception of the Steelers has been negatively impacted by a much tougher schedule than we thought at the beginning of the year? Seahawks and Bears seemed like some of the more winnable games, but in retrospect were much tougher. Even the Dolphins seemed a lighter lift 6 weeks ago.  Aside from Jets there have not been a lot of opponents that could be considered easier opponents.
Gerry Dulac
10:52
That is always the case every year. And you forgot the Patriots, even though the Steelers beat them. There are always team who are better than anticipated and teams who are worse than anticipated

I know TJ makes a lot of money but his play doesn’t justify a starting position.  Should he start splitting time with Herbig?  Shouldn’t the
Gerry Dulac
10:53
No he shouldn't. But I might have listened a little more if you said his play hasn't been commensurate with the size of his contract.

Had some initial plays, but not seeing much difference in Jalen and Minkah. Should they move him around more? Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
I think the Steelers would disagree with that.

Aloha Gerry, great win. Much has been made and said about the lack of running game, which suffered IMO without Darnell, Anderson, and at least partially due to the Ravens scheme. But it seems to me that as long as the short passing game is effective, which it was and is essentially an extension of it, it all works for good as long as that opens up the downfield passing game like we saw. This was evident in this past game (9 catches 76 yards and a TD just from the RBs) as our running backs were often able to get decent yards on the perimeter as highlighted by the Gainwell TD and Warren busting the big play which was a big reason we were able to hold on for the win. In 6 of our 7 wins, we have 70 rushing yards or less. Not something we don’t want to improve on but as long as our approach keeps the defenses honest and we can keep AR clean to throw down field, does it really matter that  we aren’t putting up a lot of rushing yards?

Gerry: there is a lot of optimism about the Steelers winning the North.  However, if both teams have the same record over the next three games (which seems probable), as long as the Ravens beat Cincy, the finale is likely to be winner take all given that the Ravens win the common opponent tiebreaker.  Based on how Sunday's game went (220 yards to 8 in the 4th, three close calls going to the Steelers, a downfield passing game the Steelers might not even try to replicate), wouldn't you expect the Ravens to win the rematch?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
The Steelers can go 2-2 in the last four games and as long as one of those wins is against the Ravens in the season finale they win the division. Even if they go 1-3 and that sole victory is against the Ravens, their probability of winning the division is still 80 percent because that Ravens schedule is less favorable than the Steelers'.

Good morning Gerry, looking as though the Steelers are well in to another season of similar results. Decent chance of playoffs but not overly optimistic to go far and MT’s non losing season in tact. In the current parity state of the NFL, would you prefer to tank and rebuild with a better draft place or hold hopes for a rebuild of finishing where we have? Thinking it’s great to say burn the house down, then there’s the Browns. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
You never have to worry about tanking or even burning the house down with the Steelers. I think the past 55 years have proven that.

People wonder why muth does play much it’s because he blocks like a wounded duck. Comparing him to heath miller what a joke. What say you.
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Nobody compared his blocking to Heath Miller. But go take a look at his blocking on Gainwell's 6-yard TD run and get back to me on that

Who’s been the best OL man to date? 76?

Yes. Though there's nothing wrong with 54

Mike Tomlin, a la Gruden trade, and next year’s one to Giants for overall number 1 pick.  There is our franchise qb along with a complete organizational reset.  Good for everyone.

Where does the run defense blame start? DL or LB Does the rookie make that much of a difference, according to the numbers yes? How our own run game , OL not physical enough? Both not good right now.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
The OL is doing priority No. 1 -- protecting their QB -- very well. The DL is not doing priority No. 1 -- stopping the run -- very well.

Good morning from Seattle. Is it true Tomlin & Khan considered bringing Ben Roethlisberger back this offseason? Reported by Mark Kaboly

If he said that, he was joking

Hi Gerry, a family friend in Pittsburgh mentioned that one of his favorite local sportswriters there was named Jack Henry.  Did you know him or were you familiar with his work?  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I am not. I knew a coach for the Steelers named Jack Henry. Great guy. But not a writer

Gerry: did you know that Al Riveron is now the ACC replay official?  He has consistently made terrible review calls including botching the "football move/survive the ground" catch situation numerous times.  Just like for Jesse James, he still doesn't count a third step as a football move.  My question is: no matter what the rules are, won't we always be at risk to officials with bad judgment making bad calls?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I did not know that. And, to your last question, yes we will.

will the steelers consider a full rebuild this off-season?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Nope

11:03
Gerry: if the Likely/Porter "catch/strip" occurs at the 50 yard line, isn't there a close to zero percent chance they would have ruled it a catch and then fumble?  People are talking about how unusual that play was.  I think it happens in the field of play quite often and is almost always ruled incomplete.
Gerry Dulac
11:03
That is correct

With Weidl in the fold for two years, I was hoping our lines would have improved, but it seems like they haven't improved at all. What gives, wrong players being selected, poor use or schemes?
