Why don't the Steelers sit Wilson, Watt, Heyward and other starters for Sunday's game against the Eagles? In the NBA, they sit veterans all the time to keep them fresh.  3 games in 11 days is crazy and the Eagles game really doesn't matter much for the standings. Let's have them fresh and rested for the Ravens and Chiefs.

I don't, but you're right. Corliss Waitman has been outstanding and has probably earned a job with another team. That is, so long as Cam Johnston is healthy enough to return on time.

And, speaking of healthy returns, I was asked last week about the health of ILB Cole Holcomb and how he's coming along and I said I didn't know but would check. Well, I can at least tell you his recovery has been outstanding and, to me, from what I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised if they add him back to the roster soon. At this stage of the season, imagine what fresh legs can do for the depth on the inside.

Thanks for the chat and congrats on breaking the story that the Pickens injury was more severe than initially thought and a grade 2 partial tear.  Is the most optimistic scenario that Pickens returns for the Chiefs game, since the Steelers apparently win the division if they beat the Chiefs & Bengals even if they lose in Philly & Baltimore, and that if the Steelers beat Baltimore Pickens is out until at least the Bengals game?

Paying a top 10 QB the veteran minimum and a legit WR #1 third round rookie contract money frees up a lot of cap space for the rest of the roster.  The team doesn't have a glaring weakness throughout the roster (except WR #2).  Is there an extra bit of urgency to win this year because of how the chips fell?

I think all the moves they made in the offseason, especially to get No. 3, speaks to their urgency. But I'd go a little easy on that no glaring weakness stuff.

Austin is fine. I don't know about any No. 1 stuff for Williams, but, let's face it, if there was ever a player who has the same size and some of the physical traits to step in for Pickens, it's Williams. But I don't think you are going to see him get the same attention/targets that Pickens gets.
