OK kids, it's a big week and I know you have a ton of NE questions, but we will be starting out chat in about 30 or so minutes.
11:00
OK, let's get our chat started...

Antonio Brown league MVP as of right now?  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
Very good possibility. Very deserving.

After watching Sensabaugh struggle badly the past few weeks and make no strides towards improvement, assuming Coty is healthy and able to play and Haden is out, I feel Sutton should get the start over him.  Sutton has seemed to show a little spark and better tackling in his limited snaps.  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Their plan is to eventually have Sutton move ahead of Sensabaugh on the depth chart.

Hey there.  is there any place to buy the black 50 shirt players wore to honor Shazier?   Can't find them on line.  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I'm not surer. Did you check shop.steelers.com?

Can we expect Big Ben outplay Tom Brady even with a "injured" defense?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
This is an opportunity for Ben to outplay and upstage Brady in a big game on national TV, something he hasn't done.

what do you think the odds of the steelers beating the patriots are? Am i the only guy who thinks tom brady looked old and slow against miami? I personally think we have to much offensive fire power for the patriots defense to stop us but who knows
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Don't be fooled by one game w Brady. Have you seen what he has done all year at age 40 -- lead the league in passing yards, TD and passer rating?

Hi Gerry - Moats isn't the answer and Spence clearly needs time to get back in game shape, etc. after being on the couch the last two months. Why not allow Fort to be the guy instead of a rotation?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
I agree

NE will tear apart our defense with their quick RB’s and Gronk if Sean Spence starts again, personally feel Fort had a few big hits and was much more active around the ball when he played and should start over Spence assuming 44 is out.  Also I believe we should have a few specialized packages (maybe 5 or 6 snaps during game) to throw at NE with TJ Watt at ILB.  TJ played ILB at Wisconsin in the same specialized fashion and is athletic enough to try and cover Gronk on specific down and distance situations.  Then have Harrison or Chick on the outside just a wrinkle.  Your thoughts on Fort and TJ?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
I agree with you on Fort. I don't think you will see that with TJ

Hi Gerry - #84 is having another fabulous season and should be considered for offensive MVP. I’m pleasantly amazed however that he never gets flagged for pushing off which he does a lot. Is this the week in a huge matchup against the Pats that the refs throw the flag and change the outcome of this game?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
After what I've witnessed the past month, I'm not sure I know what pass interference is anymore -- offensive or defensive.

Hi Gerry. So, MT embraces the hype this week, the hype of a big game. He loves it. That's all good, no problem there. But is that one possible explanation of playing down to lesser teams? Not treating every game the same?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Have you checked their record lately -- best in the AFC this year, 20-3 in past 23 games??? Nobody is better. Yeah, they really play down.

Hi Gerry - if Haden is able to play this week, we all know they are going to be in a lot of dime! Isn't it time to have Sutton out there in place of Gay in those situations? He has proved the last two weeks he can play press man and that is what will be needed vs patriots. Why not have your BEST players on the field over experience? The kid does not seem to make many mistakes and is always mentally prepared so the argument of experience vs youth making mistakes goes out the window here?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
I don't think you will see a lot of William Gay this week after the way he got picked on last time by Brady. And don't hold your breath on Haden, not this week.

Gerry:  When a team hires an offensive or defensive coordinator from the outside, does the entire offense or defense have to learn all new terminology, or is the onus on the incoming coordinator ?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
It's a little of both, but typically the players have to adjust to new terminology.

ashamed to admit I was rooting for the Pats Monday night.... How often do they lose 2 in a row?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Hey, I was rooting for them, too. I wanted them to be 11-2, just like the Steelers, heading to this matchup. It doesn't change what's at stake at Heinz Field, but it would have been just some added luster.

11:10
why not play a nickel all game with Gay closer to the line as a form of hybrid ILB - this linebacker by committee did not work last game.
Gerry Dulac
11:11
If you see that, call disaster restoration.

Everyone says that, to beat New England’s passing attack, you have to get pressure up the middle, make it a long and uncomfortable afternoon for Brady. I don’t think Pittsburgh’s defensive front seven has what it takes if they also have to worry about the run. Got to make the Patriots one dimensional. It might sound counter intuitive, but the Steelers offense can gain an edge for their defense by forcing Brady to throw 40-45 times. Got to force New England into playing catch-up ball for most of the game. Do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
You don't necessarily have to get pressure up the middle, just get pressure, period. And hit him. If he can sdtand back there like he did in January and wait for receivers to come open, it will not be a good idea if he passes 40-45 times, as you say. It is simplistic to say make him play from behind, but it doesn't always work that way.

Gerry: Should we expect any different looks from the defense this Sunday? I found it very telling that the coaches had more confidence in someone who had been sitting on his couch since September than a roster player. Cower is said to have suggested a move inside by Watt with Harrison on the outside. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Agreed. And I think you will see a few different looks.

There was a video on NBC sports about Ben for MVP?  Why is he the only QB who never gets credit above his RB or WR? It is not Homerism, it is a legit issue.
Gerry Dulac
11:15
I agree. If I'm voting, he gets my vote after the way he has brought them back in four of the past five games.

Hey Gerry, love the chats - Thank you for your time!  My question is this: Why is Ben not being talked about nationally as an MVP candidate?  I think he is notoriously dismissed and overlooked.  I do understand why AB is getting all the love . . . but, would AB be putting up the same numbers with a lesser QB?  I certainly don't believe so.  Could you give some insight into why Ben is getting no MVP love?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
I can't, other than to say he should. See my above answer. What he has done the past month or so in big-time MVP stuff, more so than Bell or AB, who I think should get offensive MVP.

For the past couple of weeks I haven't noticed Mike Hilton's named getting mentioned during games. Generally, that is a good thing for a defensive back. Has he been playing that well or is he not getting as many snaps?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
Nope, just what you say. Same snaps, just solid.
Ryno
11:16
Do we have the personnel up front defensively to harass Brady and get in his face for an entire game on Sunday?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
That's what we will see. Even though they are second in the league in sacks and Cam Heyward has nine, they are not a big up-front pressure team that harasses QBs routinely.
