I wouldn't hold your breath, but have to see him practice first. Typically, with injuries such as a fractured fibula, a player comes back for a week and tests his injury in practice on the scout team, not just to see how he reacts but, more important, to see how the injury responds after several days of work. After one week of that, and all goes OK, they put him back in his usual spot. I expect that to happen. Remember, too, this is not a do-or-die playoff game. There are more to follow and the Steelers don't want to jeopardize his return by just throwing him in the lineup.

Why can't the guys in our secondary play like the guys from Miami? I thought the balls Brady threw were well-placed. It's just that Xavien Howard and his associates were beautiful at outmaneuvering the Patriot receivers. (Our db's have looked like they don't know which stadium they're supposed to be playing in.)

Please tell me that, whether or not Haden is healthy, the Steelers will scheme up something other than soft zone coverage this week. I'm not sure I can take another "definition of insanity" game like last year's AFC Championship.

No, recent history has shown that when the Patriots lose -- and they've lost just 17 times since 2013 -- it's when they are held to 24 points or fewer. They rarely lose a shootout. The key is not merely outscoring them, it's limiting them w defense, much like Miami did.

Bell’s importance as a runner and a receiver is stressed by analysts, but it seems to me they’re ignoring his value in picking up blitzes.  He’s really good at it and Conner is not.  Agree?

Gerry: A Steelers win and Jags loss would give my favorite team two meaningless games to end the season and a bye week. An embarrassment of riches that I can't remember that happening anytime recently. If that were to happen, would you rest all starters to insure optimum health, play all starters to avoid rust, or something in between? It would certainly be an interesting scenario.

Jesse James seems to get blasted by media and fans alike for his blocking, but is it just me, or would you concur that his receiving abilities have gone to a whole new level this season? He is grabbing some difficult passes, actually avoiding some Defenders, and getting some yards after the catch this season. Is it possible we still have not seen the best from the outlaw?
