OK kids, we will start our chat in just a couple minutes so get ready....

OK, here we go....!!

Good morning Gerry! Happy holidays to you & yours
I seen a report from CBS that said there is concern in the Steelers organization about Big Ben's knee injury. Have you heard anything about that?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
Good morning Big Ed....Well, it can't be that bad because he is still playing and still practicing. But it's hard to quantify how bothersome any injury is for  any player this time of year. Nobody is 100 percent healthy in December.
Richard

Do you question Ben's arm strength?  I like the short/quick pass offense but we don't seem to be balancing it with the deep ball and defenses are tightening up near the line.
Gerry Dulac
9:57
No I don.t. And I dont mind the short passing if it's supplemented with completions (not throws) downfield. Ben's biggest problem with the deep ball is accuracy. Too many disconnects

Will the Steelers fire Randy F. And promote Matt Canada at the end of year? I feel the only reason Fincher is the OC is because he is buddies with Ben. If fincher goes I also believe Ben is gone too. Thank you
Gerry Dulac
9:57
Uh, I'd hold off on that one Art....

End of first half,52 seconds left with 2 timeouts. Bills get ball to open second half.Usually aggressive Steelers give to Samuels on a draw, dink pass to Washington and essentially give up on the drive. Were you surprised?

In that situation, teams sometimes use a play on first down to see if it gains any yards and then decide if they want to push it downfield or just go to the locker room. If it doesn't work, they just let the clock run. If it gains 10 or 12 yards, then they keep going. Not surprised. See it a lot.

Gerry, many different opinions about why running game isn’t working - play calling, O-line or RB’s not being good enough.  I think it’s the latter and we don’t have a RB that’s “really” good enough and even thought this before season started.  What’s your best take?  Respect your opinion......
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I would agree with you. It's not the play-calling, It's the execution and the scheme more than anything.
The Ger

Gerry, do you think it would make any difference to rest Ben after locking up the division Monday night?  There does not seem to be much advantage having the second third or fourth seed if the first cannot be had so why not have a potentially healed quarterback to possibly revive the down field passing game?  Mason would fill in admirably and we all know he is a master of the short throw.
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Well, it's not like they have no chance to still get the No. 1 seed. In fact, their chance is better than anyone's else. And you can't assume KC is going to win its final 3 games. Maybe. probably. But you can't assume anything in the NFL.I don't think you will see ben rested until there is mathematically no chance of improving or lessening their position, and that won't be until the final week,

In your opinion who would the Steelers take in the first two rounds in the draft in 2021?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
RB, OT

Gerry, Is there anyway to scout or recruit the "IT" skill that a player like Mike Hilton has?

Gerry, all the pundits are questioning Ben and his arm. I’ve always been a huge Ben supporter.  In your opinion, is there anything physically wrong with Ben or just a few bad games?  Thx!
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Let's see what happens going forward. Wasn't exactly a great night for throwing. Cold, wet, windy. Josh Allen looked even worse in the first half. No excuses. He had a bad game, worst of the season.

Gerry, What is the protocol if a member of the officiating team test positive for covid? Surprised there has not been any incidents with officials. I think they still do their regular jobs.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I'm sure it's the same as the player. Five days for contact, 10 days for positive test. Can't return until back-to-back negative tests.

Morning Gerry. Any truth to the report by some national media types that Ben is playing with a significant knee injury that is hampering his effectiveness? Seems to me this is meant more to grab a headline.
Gerry Dulac
10:09
If it was that significant, he wouldn't be playing. He doesn't even limp
Wisconsin Winters

I'm no coach or expert but I watch a lot of football. O-line looks like they are trying to block while in a phone booth. I say the O-line should space out a bit more instead of being so bunched together.  See Vikings, Colts, Browns. But what do I know?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
That's cause those teams run outside zone blocking schemes, something the Steelers should try to do
Jacque Strap
10:10
Do you think teams have been hiding injuries a little more this year, given that reporters have less physical access to players? A certain QB could hide a knee injury a little easier, for instance.
Gerry Dulac
10:11
That's possible, but it's also true because we don't have locker-room access, and therefore no chance to talk to players one-on-one or face-to-face, we can't find out what's really going on.
BB
10:11
Gerry - Thanks for the chats.  Run blocking has been an obvious problem, but do you think the short passing game as of late is due more to the O line not being able to pass protect for more than a few seconds, or more due to arm or knee ailments for Ben?  Or, maybe both?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
The offensive line protects better than any line in the league, whether 2 seconds or four seconds. The facts the past 4-5 years prove that
Mike
10:13
Hi Gerry this offence looks a lot like last year no run game no deep passes defense are not worried might have work early in year not now need overhaul the offence from oc down will be in for some below. average.  years coming. what do you think
Gerry Dulac
10:15
I will give it a chance to bounce back before I pronounce it as bad as last year. There didn't seem to be a problem just a couple weeks ago when they were 11-0.

Gerry, you know Coach Tomlin better than any of us.  Do you think he'll rest players week 17 if that game doesn't impact playoff seeding, or is only the difference between the 2 and 3 seed?  Thank you, sir.
Gerry Dulac
10:16
If they don't have a first-round bye and are division champs, he will rest some of his veteran starters, maybe even Ben, but maybe only for the second half. It depends how they are playing leading into that game.
Scott
10:16
Hi Gerry. Many of us as fans are becoming concerned the offensive struggles are more a result of Ben's physical limitations than the team being out of sync. If so, there is little hope for improvement. Do you think there is merit to reports of Ben's knees and arm being the real problem?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Ben's arm is not the problem. And the knee reports sound like a possibility, but I still see him practicing, playing and walking without a limp.
Wisconsin Winters

Gerry, Late in seasons it seems teams had that fresh legged brusing back to propel them to a Super bowl. Why not take a flyer on Jay Ajayi, C.J. Anderson, yes and even LeGarrette Blount,
Gerry Dulac
10:18
They tried that once with Ben Tate and it blew up in their face
Stlrdave1
10:18
Obvious question, do you feel the Steelers will be able to add a little more balance, and should Ben attempt more down field throws as it appears the opposing defenses know what the offense will try. As always, thank you for taking my question
