They certainly need to, but I really don't think there is any hope the running game will be any better than it is. It keeps getting worse. To me, the problems running the ball are not fixed until after the season. Too many things need to be fixed to be able to run the ball, and it doesn't just have to do with the RBs

Isn't it time to bench Ben ? If he cant complete a 20yard pass downfield and he wants to quit again. I've never heard Brees or Brady say that once, much less twice now !

Gerry, is the departure of Joey Porter a reason that the linebackers are so good currently?  Was Jarvis Jones a victim of Porter's poor coaching?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
No.

Where can I go to see how many snaps a player took?

Gerry, I'd like to try two questions: 1. What's your take on this new lineman, Isidora? 2. Why doesn't Deon Cain and Anthony Johnson get a chance to drop some balls on game day?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Well, I don't know enough about Isidora, other than he was on KC's practice squad, which should tell you he's not that good; and new receivers won't solve anything. Goodness, it's just one bad game. Relax

if the steelers win this week & take the north... is it a good idea to rest players for 2 games?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
No. teams have discovered that doesn't work when they come back rusty and off-timing

Why does Ray Ray run out kicks when he is 3 to 4 yards deep in the end zone?  Seems like the coaching should be a little bit better in this aspect.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Agreed. Take the 25.

Gerry, since football is such an emotional game and I realize that as pros this shouldn't matter much...but maybe it's time to bring in Hines, The Bus and maybe Mean Joe for a sermon to get these guys pumped up....what do you think?  And yes, my 2nd shot is usually further away from the green than my tee shot....go figure...thanks

Hi Gerry. While Chase Claypool is effective in drawing DPIs, is there reason to hope that he will develop the ability to make contested catches like James Washington? It seems to be lacking in his game. With that speed and height, it would make him unstoppable.
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I think he's is pretty good in that area, but he will get better when he understands the DBs he faced in college aren't the same caliber as the ones he faces in the NFL

A lot has been said about the disappearance of Matt Canada’s influence on the offense, have you noticed anything to suggest he no longer has any input in the offensive game plan?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
His input hasn't changed. Ben is just calling plays or using plays with which he's more comfortable. Read into that what you want

I know the O-line is built to pass protect but, do you think they go for a couple O-linemen in next years draft that can run block?  With Ben getting rid of the ball so quickly, seems that there is a little bit of a trade off to be made there?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
I think there is some merit to that. But it's more about scheme and technique than personnel

If Conner leaves after this season, as expected, RB need even greater.  Will steelers pull the trigger on a first round back picking probably late twenties?  I would think card couldn’t be turned in fast enough
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Running backs in the first round aren't a big priority because they are not worth the money you have to pay them. They are good for a couple years and then teams move on from them, with very few exceptions. That being said, if I were the Steelers, I wouldn't wait beyond the second round to draft a running back.

I think the Steelers have found something with running back split to the wide side or in motion when they did this the defense looked like the keystone cops they were lost with this non Steeler look, wouldn’t this open the middle a little more for our GREAT RECEIVERS.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
That's where motion can help. But it's not like they haven't done this before

I am thinking Big Ben could use some rest and Coach MT should start Rudolph Monday night. Your thoughts? Thanks. Love the show.

Good morning Gerry.  I continue to be so impressed with your work. Thank you!  And thank you for using “Coach” a couple weeks back with him.

Morning, Gerry. I take your view on all things Steelers as the gold standard. That being said, any vibes from inside the team that Ben really is in trouble? It almost seems as though they’re trying to drag him and the team across the finish line. I hate to say it but it sort of looks like when they dragged Hines Ward across the finish line as well. Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:34
I don't think it's even in the same ballpark as when they were trying to get Hines his 1,000th catch. Ben has not all of a sudden gone from being an MVP candidate to being finished in two games. But you have heard me rail for the past six or seven weeks about the amount of times he was throwing for a quarterback playing with the lead during their 11-0 run. There was no need for it. Too many bad things can happen. Arms can get overused. Injuries can happen. The more you drop back, the greater incidence for that. It is December, the weather changes, and he is 38. He doesn't play in a dome like that softball pitcher in New Orleans. Or that statue in Indy

Gerry- would you take  najee Harris or Etienne at end of 1st round and then take some lineman or take a lineman first and get a back later.    We have “guys” in that room.  We need a real difference maker.  Those two guys could be that
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I would take either of those RBs you mentioned where the Steelers will likely be picking. yes indeed

10:35
Gerry - you still think they will resign JuJu?  I just don’t know how you commit 15-16mill a year to him.   I’d rather see us re sign Hilton or honestly give it to Bud.   Bud and Watt change games together more than 19
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Yep. Look, Al Villanueva won't be brought back, Vance McDonald will be given the take-it-or-leave option and James Conner will not be re-signed (and why would you). That's a boatload of cap space right there. JuJu is their top dependable receiver, like Hines Ward. And, what, they gonna get rid of everybody off an 11-2 division winning team? Really?

Good morning!  Thank you for your continued hard work keeping us informed.  And than you for referring to him as “Coach” a couple weeks back!   Do you think it’s possible it will be revealed after the season that Ben’s elbow wasn’t significantly healed and therefore the lack of downfield throws?  Similar to the NHL’s, vague “upper body injury” that hides a player’s true acuity ...
Gerry Dulac
10:44
Ben's elbow has significantly healed. That is not an issue at all. But is it 100 percent like it was way back when? Of course not. No muscle or tendon injury heals better than it was before the pain, just bones. Is it POSSIBLE his arm could be be getting tired this late into the season after that surgery. Of course it's possible. The medical team spends each week, if not every day, making sure his elbow/arm is prepared to play. I hate to tell you this, they have been treating his elbow for years, a lot longer than anyone realizes, even before he won the second Super Bowl. So when you hear about them trying to make sure his elbow/arm is fine to get through the season, don't be alarmed or think someone unearthed some big scoop, as though this was ground-breaking stuff. Holy ****, where's the Tylenol?
OK kids, and with that, we're out of time. Thanks for all the questions. Happy holidays
