OK kids, I'm back and unmasked....let's get our chat started

For God's sake, retire RENEGADE. The Bills went right down the field, 80 yards. Not the first time players on the other team said it actually motivated them.
Gerry Dulac

Agreed. I suggest something from Poison

Duck's downfield passes look like MIckelson's 64 degree wedges or a Harlem Globetrotter ally-oop. Speaking of golf, what Tiger did to lead the U.S. team back from the abyss last week goes high up on the resume.

Arm strength is one of the reasons he went undrafted and unsigned. But he gets away w it.

Hi Gerry, I hope the byline strike was successful. My question: is Paxton Lynch -- a first round pick not 3 years ago -- so godawful that he has zero chance of unseating an undrafted rookie whom no other team wanted and also threw 4 picks last week?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
It is surprising. But, if you notice, none of those QBs who are 6-7 or taller (Brock Osweiler, Dan McGwire) make it in the NFL. It has something to do with their length and what happens when they can't stand in the pocket and throw with a tight motion. BTW, I saw Osweiler on the practice range in Arizona and chatted with him. Good dude

After the hype for playoff talk, we were on position to win 2 out of 3 and get in vs No Great teams other than Ravens which could rest starters in finale, now realistically is 2 out of 2 with No margin of error, If we don’t make it I’d say it would be a total failure/bust season after all and all based on we had the opportunity on last 3 games and it would be 2 years in a row just barely out at the last moment.. any thoughts Gerry? Do you think we will make it? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I think they make it but I'm not betting the house on it. But you can't label the season a failure or total bust just because the team far exceeded ANYONE's expectation, tantalized you ad everyone else with the possibilities, then failed to fulfill your unrealistic dreams. It's amazing they're even in this position, even if they don't make the postseason.

Do you get the impression Al Villanueva's performance, especially as a run blocker, has gone down this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I would say that is true

Gerry, I thought Ron Cook's column today was spot on. If Mike Tomlin can't turn to Mason Rudolph after that mediocre performance by Duck last week, is there much hope for Rudolph's future here?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
I think there is some truth in that
Jack
11:12
Gerry,  Being that Duck is starting this week in an important game after his dismal showing not bode well for Mason?  Must not be showing much in practice since benching.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
It doesn't have anything to do with practice. I just think Tomlin doesn't want to keep switching QBs at this point. That being said, Duck will be on a short leash if he starts turning the ball over like he did against the Bills. I don't expect that to happen tho. I think you will see a very conservative, run-heavy game plan against the Jets. So expect another one-touchdown performance from the offense.
Jack

Gerry,  Reports have mentioned that the Vet's not pleased with how Duck carries himself.  Any truth there?  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
I'm not sure what the heck you're talking about
Keith
11:14
Could you tell me the issue with Pouncey’s increase in errant snaps? Unusual for him and hinderance for offensive flow and ability to score points.
Gerry Dulac
11:15
It's not like it's an epidemic. You heard Tomlin yesterday -- it's happened before with Pouncey. Ben just made those bad snaps not look so bad with his hands
Mick from San Diego
11:15
I'm expecting a lot of short passes and more running this week. Do you think they'll play it safer with Duck?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Bingo
Franco

Jets seem to be a bad match up for us. Good enough Defense to shut down our horrible offense and and offense that has enough weapons to score enough points. are you scared of this Jets Team? Prediction?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Really? A 5-9 team a bad matchup? That looks like a good matchup to me
The Goose
11:16
Gerry,  I think everyone can see now why Duck was not drafted.  Has the arm strength of a Div II player and that will not cut it in the NFL on a consistent basis.  Is there more to Mason being benched?  Even the games they won with the Duck he could easily had a couple of pics.  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:17
No, I think it had to do with Duck being 3-0 as a starter, completing 71 percent of his passes and throwing four TDs compared to two interceptions. He had one bad game. Look, I thought Tomlin might go back to Rudolph, especially after what I was hearing. But I'm not shocked he stayed w Duck.

Welcome back Gerry. I guess the strike is now over? Us readers are always on your side & really appreciate the hard work you guys do!

Hi Gerry - what are the odds that the Steelers franchise or find a way to re-sign DuPree? Would weaken this great defense right as Ben comes back if they do not.
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Agreed. They will definitely try. Losing him creates a huge hole and weakens and begins to crumble what they have built.
Sue
11:18
who Was at fault for the bills last TD, Barron or Edmunds?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Edmunds was late getting over. They were in a zone defense and that was his third of the field.
Sue
11:19
gerry, you’ve long been an Edmunds supporter, do you agree that he is the defense’s weak link, esp in pass coverage?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
No, but I think he needs to make more big plays that are commensurate with being a No. 1 pick.
Sue
11:19
Vs Bills @ home and Lose? That was our ticket basically.. now not easy task @ Jets & @ Ravens.. not looking inspiring considering Texans could win division this week and lose to Titans next week so in that scenario we lose one we are done.. can we win out or not in your view?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
They need to beat the Jets to keep everything alive. Then they don't need any outside help. It's all in their control, even though the Ravens are waiting in the final week

Who can the Steelers trade to get a first round pick so I can enjoy all the mock drafts that are somehow already being done?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
They can't and they won't.

11:21
Anyone that views this season as a failure at this point (Mike) is certifiably insane.  What this team has done to date is simply remarkable...period, the end.

Just so we are all clear: steeler fans are rooting for TB and Tennessee this week, so Houston doesn’t clinch the AFC south this week and rest it’s players in the final week against Tennessee. Yes?
