Do the Steelers plan to have a quarterback coach? Looks like one could help. Also, what are your thoughts on the level of Fichtner’s play calling?

They didn't think they needed one because of having Ben. In retrospect, it would have been a good idea. Maybe they will add one next season but I wouldn't hold your breath. Not if Ben is coming back.

Any sense on If Mason has taken this benching in a positive way? I thought he played pretty well when he started and then lost all confidence in that nightmare of a game in Cleveland. I loved Duck coming in and providing a spark but lets be honest- Mason has a ton more talent. Plus, from reading about Mason he was benched in HS and College and both times came back and did very well...

Mason prepares as well as any QB. And I would like to think that watching a couple games from the sideline can only help. But, yes, he is their No. 2 QB and still could get back in there, including this week.

I really felt Coach T should have switched back to MR at the start of the second half. Why is it he still needs to see more from Duck before giving MR another chance ?

Why? Duck came out to start the second half and took them right down the field for a touchdown and a 10-7 lead. I didn't see any reason at all to replace him in that game. By the time he threw those two picks in the end zone, the game was over. Now, if you want to make the point he should have replaced him to start this game, I'll buy that. But there was no reason to do so against the Bills. It was still a 10-10 game until 8 minutes remained.

Gerry, is arm strength something a QB can improve on or is what you see what you get?

It can improve but I don't think it can drastically improve. For example, I think Ben will tell you his arm strength the past couple years is better than when he was a rookie.

Hi Gerry, the Steelers should have drafted L. Jackson in the first round 2 years ago! They easily could still have gotten Edmunds in the second (or third, maybe fourth). what do you think?

Well, keep in mind that it has been difficult to work out the way he would like after surgery. I wouldn't worry if you think he looks huge. I think the beard helps with that look tho.

Would JJSS coming back make a huge impact on the offense by opening up the middle of the field, or do you think this is what the offense will look like no matter who is out there?

No, I think it will definitely help but not to the point the offense is all of a sudden become a scoring machine. They weren't that when he was in there. But the development and emergence of James Washington and Diontae Johnson could be even greater by having JuJu back. I think what would really help everyone is to have Ben back.

First question-Wow. How heavy is Ben?  He looks like a brown hair Santa Claus. I'm disappointed seeing him that way. 2nd question   Our offensive line is in disarray. Foster can't move or block. When Finney at center, our run game is better. Why doesn't the coaches see this & move Finney to guard ( or Pouncey to guard & Finney to center)?  Duck was under pressure all game

The offensive line has not been great. But when the pass protection was good, people complained the run blocking was bad. Now that the run game has been more productive, the protection hasn't been as good. But let me remind you and everyone else for the 100th time, when Ben isn't in there, Duck and MR don't audible out of plays or change or slide the protection like he can. That's the BIGGEST problem.

Hey Gerry, regardless of how the game turned out, meeting you in the parking lot while tailgating was the highlight of the season for me!  With some creative financing and solid drafting, do you feel  we can keep this core D together and get a few more offensive weapons for Ben next year?  And thanks for the bro hug!

I know the duck is getting ripped for the bad picks and rightfully so, but he moved us into scoring position twice in the final minutes calmly like a veteran. Definitely shows a lot more confidence than Mason, would you agree?

Pro Football Focus has Watt as the very best at his position and that makes sense.  They have Pouncey at the very bottom yet he made the pro bowl.  Why the disconnect?

Is there a limit on how many coaches a team can have? If not, there wouldn't be any harm in hiring a "Backups QB Coach" that only worked with the young guys if Ben doesn't need the help
