Is Matt Canada going to save his job?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Can't answer that just yet. I think this late-season stretch might be saving it. Plus, I think he has a year left on his contract, which would also preclude a change I believe.

Gerry, love your chats.

Thanx Vinnie

Any idea how the team values Sutton as he is 2 games away from FA? Are they willing to give him$8-9m a season, which is what it’ll take to keep him?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
Right now, he is their best corner, which should tell you something. And there is nobody behind him waiting in the wings

If it took 4 1/2 months for the Steelers to "grow up" it's time to make major coaching changes so the "grow up" happens alot quicker in the season. It's time for Rooney to grow a pair and put his foot down with Tomlin's poor choices and coaching of the defense. Flores gone, Canada gone, Tomlin, let the defensive coordinator do his job, Trubisky gone. It took Pickett ALL game to get one in the endzone. let's not crown him yet. At least he didn't go out with a concussion. That's a positive.

Hey Double R, way to look at the bright side.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Gerry.  Been meaning to ask this for a while.  Terrell Edmonds   he is steady And has been very healthy not a not a big splash player.  With the revolving door at inside linebacker would he be an option to move him to that position. Not that he's a liability at safety but he would definitely be an upgrade in coverage as a linebacker?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I won't argue with you. He has been more than steady, even since last year, but I think they might be content to leave him where he is at strong safety. But I get your point. Hey, everybody can't be Minkah

What are is your biggest surprise and disappointment for this season
Gerry Dulac
11:35
Biggest surprise: The offensive line. Biggest disappointment: Gotta think about that one.

In your opinion, should any other Steelers players numbers be permanently retired?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
I have no problem doing it the way the Steelers do it, so long as they continue to not hand out numbers such as 12, 58, 52, 43.

If it's out there, I never saw it. I know why Rocky didn't attend. Why didn't Terry attend? After all, he did throw the pass.
Gerry Dulac
11:36
Well, after all, he was working for Fox

Do you think any of the following players will return next season: Trubisky, Rudolph, Ogunjobi, Bush, Jack, and Edmunds?
Gerry Dulac
11:38
No, no, maybe, no, yes, yes. But Jack has a big cap number in '23 -- $11.3 million

With 16 guys from LIV cleared for Augusta, this makes for great drama for them to show what the PGA tour is missing. te you digging it?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
It would make for an interesting story if DJ, Cam Smith, DeChambeau, Koepka, Reed or Garcia won the event
Dr Cornfedder
11:39
Do you think Dan Moore will be the Steelers starting left tackle in 2023?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
Maybe not. Depends on the draft
Vegas vinnie
11:39
Do you think there will be any Left tackle available to them in the draft if the Steelers win out? With the extra 2nd round pick what are the chances they trade up for one.
Gerry Dulac
11:40
Good point. But right about now, if they were willing to move up, I think it might be for a CB or DL, though I certainly wouldn't rule out a stud LT

yes

Hi Gerry, IT'S EARLY BUT WHAT POSITIONS DO YOU THINK THE STEELERS WILL RE-LOAD THROUGH DRAFT AND WHAT POSITIONS THROUGH FA ACQUISITIONS?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
Draft needs to be DL and OL. They need a Pouncey or a Cam Heyward -- a stud. A perennial Pro Bowler. And a CB, only if he is top-tier, not just a nice CB. Otherwise, you might have to go buy one.

11:42
Do you still think Kenny Pickett was a bad pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
I'll say it for the 1,000th time -- I don't have a problem with Kenny Pickett the player. I had a problem with using their top pick on a QB. Still do. Does anyone really think they would have won fewer games with Mitch Trubisky or Mason Rudolph?? Really??
Rob Pratte
11:43
Do you think the Steelers have any buyers remorse in regards to TJ Watts contract?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
Nope
Brian
11:44
Hi, I heard that Canada is still gone at the end of the year no matter circumstances. If this is true. Do you see us going outside organization to hire are next offensive coordinator? Thanks for any input on this.
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Wow, who told you that?? You know more than I do. But, if they do make a move (and I;m guessing they don't), I think they will go outside the organization. Or, at least, they should
Tim in Canada
11:45
Thanks for the chats. Am I over confident that we are an offseason away from being a solid contender again? CB, OL, DL ILB and Kenny with a year's experience? Maybe (probably) a new OC? Happy New Year!
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Tim, no, I don't think so. I've seen too many teams turn things around bigger and quicker than that

11:46
If Mike Tomlin gets to 9-8 but the Steelers miss the playoffs and extend their streak of seasons without a postseason win to 6, can we really say he did a good job this season?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
That's why i said earlier that you have to judge this season in its totality and not simply look how they finished the season.
Tom in Dallas
11:47
When the dust settles in January, will we be talking more about a team that finally gelled (Kenny became a leader and defense played up to expectations) and finished the season 6-1 (or 5-2), or about a season of lost opportunities (winnable games against the Jets, Pats, Dolphins and Ravens 1) that could have put us in the playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
I think their inability to beat teams with a winning record shows the type of team they are. But you forgot one aspect that has to be remembered -- coaching decisions that cost the Steelers the games you mentioned.
