Happy New Year everyone. Let's get started....

Gerry: Happy New Year and thanks for another great year of chats. The Steelers are now 0-4-1 in their last five games against teams that are 8+ games under .500 which I believe is an NFL record. This streak spans five QBs (two of which are first ballot hall of famers), three offensive coordinators, and two defensive coordinators so it is obvious that Tomlin is the common denominator. What specifically about his coaching in either schematics, play calling, or preparation causes him to be so susceptible to these kinds of losses?
Gerry Dulac

Those types of odd streaks tend to speak to preparation, but, after all these years, I can honestly say I've never noticed a change in preparation leading up to any game, unless it was a meaningless end-of-season game. Part of that is because me and every other person who is around the team couldn't honestly say they one thing about how the team prepares beyond our vision

How many years and TDs will King Henry get Sunday night?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
If I knew that I'd go on DraftKings

Does TJ have any trade value?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Sure. The question is, how much?

Good morning Gerry.  Metcalf’s illogical decision in Detroit affected the offense in the Browns game.  My question is how much blame should Omar Khan receive for not having built a stronger receiver room?  In 4 games when the number 1 receiver was out (2 last year with Pickens and 2 games this year), the receivers put on the field scared no one.  As an aside, I think the Steelers need a solid #2 receiver and a solid #3 receiver next year.
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Metcalf's decision wasn't illogical, it was stupid. Me? I'd take two WRs among the first four picks

I'm going to say the winner of the altercation between DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf and blue haired fan guy was George Pickens. No matter how much of a knucklehead Pickens was, he never physically attacked a fan nor did he ever get suspended! Agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
How could I argue with that
Bill in LA
10:05
Rogers threw to Marquez Valdes-Scantling nine times and he only caught three passes! I could have caught three from Rogers and I don't play football! MVS was the worst "over the hill gang" free agent signing by Omar Kahn of 2025, even worse than Darius "Big Play" Slay. Am I right or what?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I usually don't know you to be wrong

10:05
Gerry, if Steelers are embarrassed on Sunday night and fire Tomlin chants are filling the stadium do you think Tomlin decides to step down?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I don't think any amount of chants are going to force that issue, but if the Steelers get behind and aren't playing well you sure as heck are going to hear them, especially after what happened in Cleveland
Takoma Tom
10:06
Tomlin wins games by letting other teams beat themselves and playing conservative.  Can’t be a contender or beat really good teams.  All you do is play .500 ball.
Gerry Dulac
10:07
They beat the Ravens in Baltimore earlier this month by not playing that way. They need to take the same approach this time as well, even though they don't have the same people to execute that approach
Bill in LA
10:07
I think its over. The Ravens are much better than the Browns. So I say let's just have Will Howard start on Sunday so we can get a good look at him before the draft. Let him throw to Roman Wilson. No downside. Can you feel me?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Now you're starting to go over the edge....

In previous chats, you’ve mentioned the Steelers are focused on a quarterback in next year’s draft.  While Malik Willis has a small sample size, he’s looked very impressive for the Packers.  What percentage chance do you give to them bringing in a young qb like Willis?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
About the same as when they drafted Kenny Pickett over Willis

Gerry, do you add your opinion that Tomlin should resign or be fired if they get blown out by the ravens this week?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I let you guys do that

After the Buffalo game Tomlin told us to "keep watching". Was that in reference to watching for another 9-8 season and no playoffs?  I know we should be excited about that...I guess.
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Funny, but, well, he was right with what happened the next three games after Buffalo

Hi Gerry:  Happy, healthy New Year.  This could be AR8’s final game in his career.  I think he is going out in a blaze of passing.  30 plus attempts.  All over the field as he sees it.  Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Only if that what it takes to win, not because it might be his final game

Will the Steelers attempt to get their next QB in the draft,( being that the selection is a bit underwhelming), or will they try to sign Kyler Murray or another available veteran?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Yes. And I sure as heck hope not. Kyler Murray is nothing more than a good backup

Gerry: the Steelers have now famously gone 66 games without scoring 10+ points in the first quarter. I was curious to see what game it was when they last did it. It was in week 1 of 2022 vs Cincy  when Minkah had pick six on the opening drive. I believe the streak for the offense not doing what Cleveland’s did on Sunday is now 93 games counting the playoffs. Is that just ridiculous bordering on farcical?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
It's staggering and unfathomable, really

Assuming CoachTomlin returns, what do you think the chances are that he would be willing to do a fundamental reset of the offensive philosophy and hire a young, modern pass-first offensive coordinator and actually delegate control of the offense to them?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Did you say "delegate" control? As though that actually happens??

Gerry, Sunday night could be Aaron Rodgers' last game in the NFL. Do you think he will go rogue if the game plan isn't working? I feel like he will want to go down swinging. I can envision him doing the unthinkable and using the middle of the field and actually getting Muth involved prior to the 2 minute drill at the end of the halves.
Gerry Dulac
10:13
He and everybody else haven't been getting 88 involved all year. Shame on them
Ron
10:13
Since the Steelers will likely not be in a position to draft a franchise quarterback and assuming Aaron Rogers retires, does it make sense to pursue Malik Willis as a free agent?  This is someone that Mike Tomlin seemed to like at the time but then Kenny Pickett was available with the 20th pick.
Gerry Dulac
10:13
Did you ever consider that was a smoke screen?

Gerry: Mike Tomlin said post game “I didn’t think we played poorly”. Does that short comment reveal a lot about how he thinks about the game that shows why the team is mired in 8 years of mediocrity?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
When he said that, I have to admit I was surprised. Now, to be fair, when I asked him that question, he might have thought I was referring to the overall team performance in general, not just the offense. And so maybe his answer was about including the defense.
Ty Hink

Gerry, what do you think the game plan will be to try to hang in there other than stop the run? A lot of play action to TEs? Or take some deep shots with Austin and maybe MVS?
