OK kids, sorry for the late start today, but unavoidable, kind of like Burfict getting in the way of that JuJu block. Lets get our chat started.....

Hello Gerry, Love your chats. Am I the only one that saw the pre-last play of the Cincy Game as a vicious call from the Cincy ST Coach? They were looking to do the offside to injury Boz right there! I know these kind of games got really intense but the Bengals crossed the line in so many ways. What are your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
2:07
I don't think any team or coach is moronic enough to intentionally move a kicker 5 yards closer from 43 yards just so they can jump offside to injury the kicker. To me, that's paranoia.  Now, if you're implying that the Bengals player was trying to injure Boswell, as Boswell has suggested, then all I will say is -- I put nothing past the Bengals and any of their players. That atmosphere has not been fostered with that team, it has been embraced, coddled and rewarded. How else do you explain the Bengals giving Adam Jones a $20 million contract extension and naming him a team captain months after he and Vontaze Burfict cost them a playoff victory and a run at the Super Bowl with their stupid antics at the end of the 2015 wild-card playoff game with the Steelers. Do you think it's any surprise that the Bengals are 11-16-1 since then??? Talk about dividing and demoralizing a locker room and losing the respect of the players? They deserve everything they get.

Hi Gerry, With five QBs likely to go in the first round and another 3 or 4 in round 2, I was wondering why you thought the team would not select one from a very promising crop if Roethlisberger retires? And do you see his relationship with Haley weighing into that decision i.e. if Haley goes, I'll stay one more year?
Gerry Dulac
2:08
No, his decision will have nothing to do with Todd Haley. And, to the first part, it depends what quarterback might be available. But, keep in kind, any of the so-called elite franchise QBs aren't going to be available at No 30, let alone 32.

With this season's record and past history of at least "enabling" undisciplined, self-destructing behavior by players on the field, what are the odds that the Steelers have just played the last Marvin Lewis coached Bengals team?
Gerry Dulac
2:10
For that reason, it should be. And I only say that because I like Marvin a great deal, always have. He's a good person. But how and why he tolerates the behavior of those miscreants, then rewards them, is beyond me. They are coach-killers, and always will be.

Do you think Sutton should start over Sensabaugh? Any idea if Joe Haden should be back soon?
Gerry Dulac
2:11
Yes. And I believe Sutton will, and should.

I have noticed that Robert Brazille has been nominated to the pro football hall of fame as a senior for the class of 2018 and I'm sure he is deserving of this honor if he is finally selected. But I think that Andy Russell is at least as deserving as Mr. Brazille. Andy Russell was a superior linebacker in that league with average size, strength and athletic skills. He played on some really bad, bad steeler teams in the mid and late sixties and was the ONLY outstanding player they had at that time.  His football intellect was absolutely superior and second to none. He was selected to the pro bowl at least 7 times and at least once during those dark years of the sixties. He is a Hall of Famer. Please, let him have the honor that he deserves.
Gerry Dulac

I agree. And so would Myron Cope, who made an issue of that for years.

How would you rate the play of CB Cam Sutton vs. Coty Sensabaugh? Who would you start against the Ravens? Will William Gay play more LB or DB this week?
Gerry Dulac
2:12
I can tell you, you won't see William Gay play more unless there are more injuries. Sutton only played one half for the first time in  his NFL career. It is not fair to judge him.

The Juju block on Burfict - what, by rule, made it illegal?  Was it that he hit Burfict too high, or that particular type of block?  Juju had a very similar block on a very similar play later in the game that didn't draw a flag.
Gerry Dulac
2:13
I truly believe he was penalized because he hit him too hard. That's what has become of the NFL.

2:13
How do you think Sutton did when he got in?  Does he start Sunday?
Gerry Dulac
2:13
See above answer. And yes

Hi Gerry and thank you. So even before Shazier went out our defense was very leaky. With him out for what could be awhile, should Steelers fans be worried? Thanks Sir
Gerry Dulac
2:14
You never want to lose the most athletic, disruptive, big-play player on defense. Period.

Hi Gerry and thank you. Is it time to give James Harrison some playing time? He's definitely well rested. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
2:14
The reason he is not playing is because they want to rest him

Can Matakevich play LB at this level?  His hustle and instincts seem to get by on ST but he looks like he gets abused any time I've seen him actually play defense... not athletic enough.
Gerry Dulac
2:15
Yes

With the depleted secondary and our most dynamic LB likely out, how do you see us playing the patriots ?  Do you envision more man to man? Or let Brady pick apart our zone?
Gerry Dulac
2:16
Well, the secondary might not be depleted by then. Mitchell will be back and there's a chance, albeit a small one, Haden will, too.

Had high hopes for Wilcox when he signed - liked his hard hitting style.  Lately all I've seen are holding penalties - does he have a future here?
Gerry Dulac
2:17
Maybe as what he is -- a backup. Nothing more.
Big B

Do you think AB looks bad by yelling "Karma!" over JuJus interview?
Gerry Dulac
2:17
No. He looked worse when he was laying knocked out on the PBS field in 2015 playoff game.

Why is Martavis having trouble catching deep passes?  Is it lack of effort, or does he have trouble locating deep balls?
Gerry Dulac
2:18
I think it's locating...and catching. Maybe he needs contacts.

If it was a regionally telecast 1PM game between the Bills and Colts would there have been all this controversy and pontificating we have seen the last 2 days?
Gerry Dulac
2:18
Nope
Touchback
2:18
Why can’t James Harrison sub in for more plays in place of an injured Shazier?  I hope he’s doing better.
Gerry Dulac
2:18
Simple -- cause he can't run or cover like Shazier in the middle of the field.

Better Steeler RB plastering bengal highlight... Bell running over Dre Kirpatrick, or Bettis not breaking stride while tattooing Artrell Hawkins?
Gerry Dulac
2:19
I like Bell. And the stiff-arm on 27 from the last game, don't forget that

Gerry can you explain why passing is down this year in the NFL. Seems like Ben is throwing the ball less than usual yet he is second overall in attempts only two behind Brady and nobody going to be close to 5000 yards. Any reason for the trend?
Gerry Dulac
2:20
Because teams are beginning to understand the value of the running game again. That is reflective of how teams are taking RBs high in the draft again

Who's going to be signal caller this week for the defense?
