Hey kids, we will be starting our chat in less than 20 min so get those questions ready...though I see you already have.
10:41
OK, let's get our chat started....Go!!

Hey Gerry, I'll be attending the divisional game and it will be my first time in Pittsburgh, any good places to eat that you recommend
Gerry Dulac
10:42
Close to stadium is Hyde Park Grille, Burgatory and Jerome Bettis Grille. Downtown is Ruth Chris, Eddie Merlots, Eddie V's, Meat & Potatoes, Capital Grille, Lydia's. All very good.

Can you believe the Bungals Gave Marvin Lewis a contract extension??? Thats a welcome headscratcher if you ask me
Gerry Dulac
10:43
Seven playoff appearances. This isn't Jeff Fisher stuff here.

Hey Gerry. When are people going to realize the Steelers are frauds and so is their coach? They may be 13-3 but they didnt play anyone good.
Gerry Dulac
10:44
You will see later in this chat where a questioner wants to know why Ed and I sometimes treat our "customers" with sarcasm and disdain. This is a perfect example.

Criticism of Mike Tomlin often seems irrational and even...something much worse. What legit criticisms, if any, do you have of MT heading into the playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
I got none. He is 22-4 in the past 26 games, has the best record in the NFL this season amid a lot of drama. Hard to nitpick

10:45
Is Haley's and Roethlisberger's relationship as bad as people say?  Results are great but people hate him.  Why?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
Hate is a strong word. I will remind you the players didn't exactly love Lombardi and Noll when they played for them, either

Jerry,    Any idea what the status is of James Conner for the play-offs?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
He is on IR and done for the season
Ralph
10:46
Do you think coach Tomlin will learn to live in his fears and take the points.  Three points are better than none early in a game.
Gerry Dulac
10:46
I agree

Gerry, Even though the Steelers won't stand in the way of Munchak leaving for a HC position elsewhere, would they sweeten the pot to get him to stay? (He is one hell of a line coach- we NEED him!)
Gerry Dulac
10:47
Of course not. He has a chance to be a head coach again. They would NEVER deprive a person of that opportunity. Plus, they could "sweeten" any pot for an assistant to match a head coach's deal.

I think Tomlin really screwed the pooch in alienating James Harrison by not giving him the playing time he was promised and merited. His first game for the Cheatriots showed he still has it (2 sacks), and they even dropped him into pass coverage! Tomlin hasn't shied away from playing has-beens or never-will-bes (I'll withhold names to spare them embarassment). This treatment of an all-time Steeler great will bite him if it comes to another AFC championship game!
Gerry Dulac
10:48
That's what everyone fears. He looked good in his first game with NE

Based on information you have available, do you think we will see the dynamic Antonio Brown that we know and love in 2 weeks, or will we see a slower, hobbled version of AB in the playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
Trust me, if he is hobbled and slower, you won't see him because he won't be playing
NPG2003

Ed, what's your 5 keys to the Steelers getting to the AFC championship game?
Gerry Dulac

I
l'll ask Ed

Thanks for the great chats Gerry; Curious about the Steeler luck in getting J2S2.  Was that an inside job from Lynne Swann?  He was never ranked that high on the draft boards.  Fans should also credit whoever found AV and Bos--two Pro Bowlers off the street as well.
Gerry Dulac
10:51
No, Lynn Swann had nothing to do with it. And JuJu was ranked as a second-round pick and that's where the Steelers got him. Fans tend to remember draft picks who failed. But they don't always consider the street pickups such as Villanueva and Boswell.

This is not meant for the chat, I'm not into being a public scold. I am 76 years old and been a Steeler and PG fan since high school and season ticket holder since 1973. I enjoy your articles in the paper, but have an issue with the chats. The people who participate in these are fans, although some have a limited knowledge of the game.  I don't think that your sarcastic and insulting answers to some of their questions are becoming. It is obvious that neither you or Ed enjoy these chats and would be doing something else, but these people are your "customers" and should not be treated rudely. Thanks for reading (If you still are).

Jim, I read the whole thing and this is my favorite question of the year. The "limited knowledge" part I get, but there is a difference between limited knowledge and unfair, scathing, misinformed, smart-aleck (would like to use another word) and sometimes crude questions based on gossip or social media diatribe. See above example, for proof. You should see some of the questions we don't answer. In any event, thanx for reading and participating. And I never mind a public scold.

James Harrison's debut vs. Jets. Proof he's "still got it" or taking advantage of a bad team with a bad QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
We will have to wait and see. What I noticed most were the quick, textbook open-field tackles.
SteelyD
10:58
Cam Sutton or Will Gay as dime back in playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Hopefully Cam Sutton

I'm more worried about Harrison's intel than performance. In theory is there anything the Pats could get from him that they couldn't get from film? (Belichick's "advanced" film/scouting methods notwithstanding).
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Haha. I think the intel will be Harrison's instincts in knowing what certain players might do in a given situation. I'm not sure there is much he can impart that will make a major difference

Munchak interested in Arizona job?  Better than 50/50 chance he is offered it?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Of course he's interested. I don't know the level of Ariz's interest.
Ike Steelheart
11:03
Happy New Year Gerry! If Munchak becomes the new HC of Arizona, what about Faneca as the new OL coach of The Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Gopd suggestion. He has spent the past several training camps working with the players.
SteelyD

If Munchak goes is there anyone that comes to mind as a replacement?  Externally, or an internal "Butler" to his "LeBeau?"
