Does Mitchell stay or go?  Cap picture alone seems like he s/b gone.
Gerry Dulac
11:09
Right. No way they can keep a guy who make so few plays and makes so much money
Ike Steelheart
11:10
If the good ILB and S are taken and a 1rst round rated QB drops to 28, would The Steelers take it?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Nope
Mtsteel
11:12
Hi Gerry and thanks. Picking at 28 doesn't guarantee you a starter. Don't you feel we have to sign a FA ILB that can play right away ? Can't miss at that spot...then pick another corner first, as we know those guys had a rough year. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
I think that is kind of the plan. But they are not drafting a conerback on the first round,. You can forget that. Where do you people get this notion they want a starting CB. They dont. They got em, and they have Cam Sutton. They are perfectly fine with them
Kurt
11:13
Hi Gerry do you think its more likely they try and fill the glaring ILB need with the draft or FA or both?  Who are some FA targets they could go after other then Bowman who I feel is over the hill?  It seems unrealistic for a rookie to start right away at ILB too doesnt it?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Both
The Standard
11:14
Hi, Gerry, I may be crazy but it would be easy to get a good RB in the 1st round of this year's draft Get an  ILB and Safety in FA - save the $14 mil!
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Well, in part I agree, but you wouldn't be saving if you signed an ILB and safety who were starters in free agency. It would cost you that much possibly

Gerry. in your opinion, how would've Coach Noll handled players getting themselves into trouble on facebook/snapchat/twitter/etc. ? Would he have been more - "Think before you post" or more "Don't do that at all"? (no wager this time - I lost enough! lol)
Gerry Dulac
11:16
They would have been gone. Then again, Chuck wouldn't be able to tolerate today's players. What coach really can?
Kurt
11:17
Hi Gerry do you think the demise of good run defense has more to do with scheme or the players they Steelers have had on defense.  The run D has been bad for many years now.
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Maybe a little of both.
Gene
11:18
Why are there so many empty seats on game days.?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
You look around the league these days. Apathy toward the players I think. They are tough to digest with all their behavior on social media
Mike from Utah
11:19
Would it be odd to hire an assistant to monitor situational calls for example clock management replay challenge we seem to come up short year after year in that area
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Not odd at all. I think the Redskins had a replay assistant coach several years ago
Kurt
11:19
I liked Ray's mock draft he did yesterday do you think realistically if the draft happened today Evans would be available to pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Way too early to tell. Wait till after the combine.

Gerry,
Im sure this gets beat to death, but for the Draft needs, in Order, Im thinking: ILB, S, DL, WR,OLB,TE,RB
(this assumes Bell is signed, if not, RB goes to spot #2)
Gerry Dulac
11:21
You're right on both fronts
mtsteel
11:21
Gerry, How are they perfectly fine with their corners, other than JH? They hemorrhaged huge plays last year and couldn't get a stop when they needed it??
Gerry Dulac
11:22
They have more pressing needs than CB. They have 3 young guys they like -- Burns, Sutton and Brian Allen.
JP
11:22
Gerry, any chance Steelers draft S. Barkley?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Nope
Ike Steelheart
11:23
Hello Gerry! Today Colbert said there are some longterm vets with contracts on the roster who may not be with Steelers in 2018. Who do you think those players might be?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
He says that every year because in today's NFL that is always a very real possibility. But I mentioned them earlier -- Mitchell, Gay for sure. Possibly DHB.
Captain Midnight
11:24
Gerry, do you think the FO will categorically rule out signing SF S Eric Reid, just because of his social stance?  He’s a good player, would help us, and is not a problem off the field. He’s just politically toxic. That might hold his price down and make him a cap fit. What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
I think you are possibly right about him being a little toxic.
Ike Steelheart
11:24
I think The Steelers like Bell because he is big and can pick LB and DB blitzes. I haven't seen other RB as good as him. Protecting Ben is important, and Bell has a huge role in that, agree?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
They're not going to re-sign Bell because he can pass protect. They're signing him because he can run and catch. That's why they like him.

Aren't the Steelers making a mistake by constantly telling the media that they very much want to sign L Bell? If he thinks that they really want him he can hold out for more money. Seem dumb to me.
Gerry Dulac
11:27
They are just saying they would like to, let him know they are open to the right deal, with the emphasis on right. They would also LIKE to win a Super Bowl. Doesn't mean it isn't going to happen

Been watching old,70s, Steeler games on you tube. Id forgotten how hard Steeler teams used to hit and tackle. Makes current team look terribly soft.
Gerry Dulac
11:27
You committed the cardinal sin -- watching tape of the Steel Curtain. Cant do that and still watch today

The Post-Gazette website told me I had to subscribe to read an article. When I accessed the article, it was a series of tweets by Ed Bouchette with no other content. What have we come to?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
You can ask them, not me. I don't know
Kurt
11:28
Hi Gerry do you think if they re-sign bell they will encourage him to hit the hole quicker instead of waiting all the time?  I feel that style of running doesnt work anymore against good defenses.
Gerry Dulac
11:29
I think they already do that. Drives them crazy sometimes when he doesn't.
