Given all the drama with Bell, would you be surprised if they drafted a RB in the first 3 rounds?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Not at all. I think its a possibility
Franco
10:10
Franco from Canada - Would the Steelers seriously considering taking Guice if he is available because its looking like Bell is as good as gone after 2018, someone will throw ridiculous money his way! By the way, I'm dead serious about that road trip!
Gerry Dulac
10:11
If they have a high grade on him and they don't like what they see at ILB....
bill
10:11
tomlin has never said that about celebrations before... in fact i remember him saying he encourages it. is this a case of rooney being in tomlins ear, after all the off field drama we had last year? thx
Gerry Dulac
10:11
No, I don't think it's that. But I did find it curious.

How can the Steelers rationalize Burnett as such a big upgrade over Mitchell...he is older, injury prone and declining. Don’t get me wrong, I am no Mitchell fan but I fail to see how Burnett is significantly better/different. Can you shed some light here?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
I don't know that it is a significant upgrade, but I will tell you this -- the Steelers didn't think Mitchell could run anymore. He became a liability on deep routes and trying to catch receivers who turned short catches into long gains. That help?

If the Steelers get one of the top 4 ILB with their first pick, what then becomes the weakest position unit on the team heading into Round 2? OLB? I think our two starting safeties now are probably better than our two starting OLBs
Gerry Dulac
10:13
I'd say it's a tossup, but the OLBs have more upside because of TJ Watt

What are your thoughts on Martavis Bryant or juju returning kicks next season?  It seems to me that the Steelers need a weapon for their return game.
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I like JuJu in that role. I've seen enough of Bryant in that role to know he's not suited for that.

Hi Gerry - any chance that Bud Dupree has a break out year after looking average for the first several years of his career like Jason Worilds did?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Of course there's a chance. He needs to do something
jack
10:14
any scenario you seem them taking rudolph?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Not really but you never know. I don't think there's any question the Steelers know they have issues on defense that are keeping them from taking the next step to the Super Bowl. There is no need -- or intent on their part -- to not address that in the draft. Taking a QB who won't play until 2020 at the earliest is stupid.

Hi Gerry. Thanks for your time. I was wondering about past draft picks that came with the label "future projects" (ie: Allen and Adams). With that in mind, can you recall a Steeler who was drafted as a "project" that later blossomed into a solid starter or star (minus AB).
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I've been trying to think of one and, off hand, the answer is no.
Todd - Michigan
10:21
Your opinion, better RB Willie Parker or Barry Foster? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Foster when he was healthy
Todd - Michigan
10:21
Is Landry Jones the best back up QB in your tenure, if not who would you say? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Charlie Batch. Byron Leftwich. Tommy Maddox. Kordell Stewart.
dave
10:22
Carlton Haselrig was a project that turned into a pretty good OL...
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Bingo...thanx
jack
10:22
i was really pleased with the play of sutton last year and look for him to be much bigger part of the plan, this year. whether it be saftey, db, or the extra db. agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Yes I do. And so do they
GSK
10:22
Hi Gerry, Burnett is a year younger than Mitchell and has missed 14 games in 7 years I wouldn't call that injury prone.
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Spot on
BishkekSteeler
10:22
They have Jones who has done a good job when called upon, and a developmental QB behind him, why on earth would they draft a QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
More important, they have a QB who intends to play 2-3 more years.
JerseySteel
10:23
Hi Gerry - I think Ike Taylor was drafted as a project that blossomed into a solid starter.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
No he wasn't. He was a fourth-round pick
JerseySteel
10:23
Hi Gerry - if the Steelers address ILB, S, WR, and RB in the draft - do you see any glaring holes remaining for either starters or depth?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Dline and OLB
Jamey
10:23
Do you think Bud Dupree could play inside linebacker better than outside?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
That's damning him with faint praise. But no
Jon
10:24
Gerry, in your opinion with regards to positions not of immediate need in the draft, which could you see them taking first? RB, TE or OL? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:24
RB. There is no huge need at either of the other two
10:25
Alright kids, back to the meetings...thanx for the questions. I will be at the Masters next week so no chat for two weeks
