OK, kids, we're going to start our chat a little early, in about 10 min, so get ready with those questions
10:52
OK, let's get our chat started....Go!!
Matt
10:52
Chances Timmons gets cut & signed by Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
Pretty good I'd say. Remember Larry Foote??
Matt
10:52
Steelers need a backup NT. How about Louis Nix from ND. Young & fits that 3-4 nose tackle position behind Hargrave.
Gerry Dulac
10:53
I think you will be waiting a long time if you're expecting a NT in the draft. A long time
Todd - Michigan
10:53
For those that reply “what’s the hurry” in making a move with Mitchell.., I ask “What’s the hold up?”.. Give the guy a chance to sign else where.. High cap number and more importantly a need for a safety that makes “sudden change” type plays... Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:53
What's your hurry?
Todd - Michigan
10:53
After Harris and Bettis.. who are the next best Steelers RB’s since you covered the team? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:53
Duh....Bell
mrbig
10:54
Shazier isn't playing in 2018
Bell gets tagged
draft needs: ILB, S, RB
no trade for Bryant
Mitchell should be cut
am I missing anything else since Jax loss?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
You forgot Lake and Mitchell out, Dunbar and Bradley in as assistant coaches
Todd - Michigan
10:54
Gerry... Best All time NFL LB that you have seen, in your opinion?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
What are you conducting -- a poll??
Todd - Michigan
10:55
Gerry - It’s seems as though the waters are frigid between Polamalu and the Steelers... Are they similar between Woodson and the team, or are they on good terms? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:55
I don't know about Woodson. Maybe. Petrhaps he didn't like it when Tom Donahoe, asked if they would consider bringing Woodson back, said, "We're not the Salavation Army here."

10:55
Which tag was used on Bell, exclusive or non-exclusive?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
I'm assuming same as last year -- exclusive. That was my understanding
mrbig
10:56
Pederson took a decent roster & went all the way, even outcoaching Belichick. His playcalling is outstanding. Do you think he leapfrogged Tomlin in the coaches rankings?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
That's one year. Let's see a bigger body of work before you anoint him for the Hall of Fame
Moose
10:56
I'm personally tired of Bell's antics. Greed and ego might cost him big time if he receives another major injury this season.  Do you think he will be an attitude problem for us this entire year?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
I think he already is
Ike Steelheart
10:57
If S Barkley is the 1st pick overall, what kind of contract will he have? How much money do you think he will earn every season?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
I don't know, but I'd taker him over LeV Bell in a heartbeat .

10:57
Bell is undoubtably great-he doesn’t fumble, picks up blocks to protect Ben, obviously great hands, and can still run people over.  But, he looked like he lost a half a step last year.  4.9 yards per run down to 4.0 is a big drop off.  There were several plays where he lacked the explosion and acceleration of a younger Bell.  Too many miles!
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I don't think it's too many mikles, but I would agree w you. Only three runs longer than 20 yards, none longer than 27. And it was 3.9 yards per attempt
Ike Steelheart
10:58
Hey Gerry, how about rescinding the tag and let Bell go? Then you bring back L. Timmons and pick a good ILB in the 1st round, then on the 2nd round you pick a solid RB and sign a Safety in FA. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
They could always do that
Rahn
10:59
The footsie being played with Bell on a long-term deal reminds me of the comments right after the season by players, the leaders on the offensive line in particular, that said things need to be smoother, there needs to be more accountability and, basically, more maturity. Re-upping with Bell on a big deal or worse, going through this dog-and-pony show again would seem to me that the OL's message fell on deaf ears. Or will ejecting Mike Mitchell be another move to satisfy the OL's concern?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
If you have paid close attention, there are only two players at the center of all the nonsense that has been going on. Two. And one is still at it
Rob
11:00
As much as it pains me, I think the money needs to be spent on defense, do you see a scenario where the rent Bell for one more year because of the window of opportunity they have? Is it possible to restructure a contract like Ben's to free up money this year to bring in a decent linebacker?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
They are going to have to re-do several contracts, which is no big deal, but also get rid of high-priced veterans such as Mitchell if they intend to keep the tag on Bell and he doesn't sign a long-term contract
Rob
11:01
I do not doubt Bell's skill. He is a remarkable player. But what percentage of what he does would you give to the fact he has a top 3 Hall of Fame QB, the best WR in the game, and a top 5 O-line playing with him? You would think if you put him on another team without that and his numbers would be quite different.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Bingo. Pay the man
Ryno
11:01
Your best guess, is this Bell's last season in Pittsburg?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
If I had to bet, yes.
JP
11:01
Gerry thanks for the chat. I think that the Steelers should have gone with the non-exclusive tag. Let Bell see what would have be the price and then we could get another number one this year and one next year and save all that money.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Not going to argue

Very disappointed to see Steelers tag Bell. It pretty much destroys any meaningful FA activity, puts a cloud over the draft process and we begin the new season with DISTRACTION front and center. I know he is a great player but the Steelers are allowing him to cost the team way too much not just in dollars but in structure as well. Big mistake.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Get in line with the others. Agreed
