We're going to start our chat in approx 20 minutes so get ready w those questions....
12:44
OK, let's get our chat started. I see plenty of questions already lined up.

Hi Gerry. I get that professional sports are, fundamentally entertainment. But for the serious fan who appreciates high achievement, skill and, especially in a team sport, a strong commitment to collaborative success, why does the NFL degrade those values by permitting/ encouraging such selfishness and egomania (e.g. Players celebrating just about anything they should have done anyway as a part of their job)?
Gerry Dulac
12:46
I'm with ya but unfortunately that's all part of our selfish, me-first society, sports in particular. What ever happened to "act like you've been there before?"

Thank you for your great chat. Although we have enjoyed drafts every year, an improvement of the 2nd year players is more important for the steelers’ team building in the year, like Rogers, James, and Walton in last year. So, will three starters become pro bowlers? all of others become quality depths? Then, we will go to SB. Thanks!

You can't -- and won't -- have Pro Bowlers at every position. The players you mentioned just need to be contributors, not stars. And James is in his third season already and has proven to be better than expected. Not a star by any stretch, but a solid contributor.

Are the Steelers ever going to address Ben's weight issue?  He looks like he eats far too many Primanti's sammiches.
Gerry Dulac
12:48
Ben is in better shape now than when he was younger.
Joe
12:48
If Le'veon is supposed to be rehabbing whats he doing playing basketball, does not make sense.
Gerry Dulac
12:48
He's just showing how far he has progressed.
Jim Rogers

Besides Big Ben, which player can the Steelers least afford to lose due to season ending injury?
Gerry Dulac
12:48
Bell.

12:49
Is there anyone on the team that is stronger than James Harrison?
Gerry Dulac
12:49
If there is, I want to see him.
Alex
12:49
If you could swich a starter with other team, but also have to take their salary, who will be? For me it has to be Rodegers for Ben or Heyward for J J Watt. Getting Von Miller for James would be very expensive
Gerry Dulac
12:50
Von Miller. Your other suggestions are for players who are big-time contributors and/or stars for the Steelers. They don't have that person on the outside, so switching for Miller would be drastic improvement. I'm just indulging, BTW

Steelers will be playing a regular season game in Mexico in less than ________ years

When does the standard become a standard in regards to the Steeler's coaching.  If Tomlin is the standard, then we are going to see a Pirate's like drought.
Gerry Dulac
12:51
Why do you think that? His history does not suggest that.
Steve Reneri
12:51
Do you think the selfish Antonio Brown will ever put the team before his stats?
Gerry Dulac
12:51
I think he does

We all naturally expect younger players to improve but are there any of the older players, besides James Harrison who is probably going to play until he's 472 years old, that we might see some age-related regression from? If I'm not mistaken, besides the aforementioned 472 year-old Harrison and Ben, we have a fairly young Roster. On paper, seems like a better roster than last year's.
Gerry Dulac
12:52
Right. Age might only be an issue for Ramon Foster, but not now.

I've read about several Steelers setting a goal of getting the #1 seed for the playoffs. In the Steelers past three trips to the Super Bowl, they didn't have a first round bye when they beat Seattle, but did for the Arizona and Green Bay Super Bowls.  In your opinion, which is more important:  getting some rest and skipping the wildcard round (AZ and GB seasons) or having the team rolling at the end of the season with their backs against the wall (Seattle season)?
Gerry Dulac
12:53
All in all, I think getting the bye and the week's rest is the easiest road to the Super Bowl, esepcially if you have the No. 1 seed and are at home.

Hey Gerry, Pls assign the Stillrz secondary an A-F grade for last season and predict it for the next. And of course elaborate. Cheers
Gerry Dulac
12:54
C. They were much improved last year during the regular season. Do not let what happened in NE cloud the reality. But that's why I said a "C." Because of what happened in NE.

12:54
Gerry, why such a lack of confidence in the tight ends?  I thought Jesse James improved quite a bit last year which should make him even better this year.  Xavier Grimble wasn't used that much but when he was he appeared to have the tools and the desire to excel.  I honestly believe Steeler Nation was spoiled by Heath's credentials and we tend to compare the current TE's with him.
Gerry Dulac
12:55
You are correct. None of them are Pro Bowlers, but Jesse James is better than anyone thought, including the coaches.

Hello how do you see the defense doing this year
Gerry Dulac
12:55
Should be much better if they can stay healthy. Need to be better

Gerry Dulac
12:56
We shall see. But I'm not expecting a big change
