OK kids, Im back and ready to resume our weekly chats. We will start in just a few clicks..er..minutes

Lets get our chat started...fire away!!

If Roethlisberger actually retires after this season, do you see the Steelers making a major move up to grab a QB, like Kansas City did this year.  They gave up a 1st and a 3rd and a 1st next year.
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Thats a lot to give up and that's typically not the Steelers style, so, no, they wont. But I applaud the Chiefs on their foresight...if the move works out.

Is it just me or does this draft class feel more likely to land 5 or more roster spots vs prior years?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Watt, JuJu, Sutton, Conner, Dobbs and the long snapper should all make the team. That's 6. After that, practice squad at best.

Its early, but what are the chances Justin Hunter takes the spot of Coates?  He looks gigantic out there, has speed, and this is the first time he will play with a quality QB.  Could be useful.
Gerry Dulac
11:00
That will depend on Coates and how fast he can return to practice from his knee surgery. I'm not going to go overboard on Hunter just yet. Yes, he has all the measurables, but there was a reason he didn't perform in Tennessee.

Hi Gerry! Not typically Steelers' style, but chances William Gay cut before the season?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Right. I think Tomlin likes and respects Gay's presence and leadership. But they are well aware he is the weak link when they try to play man coverage.

Who is looking better at backup QB right now? I know Jones has the playbook down, but is Dobbs pushing him at all?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
No. Landry Jones is the backup quarterback.

Gerry- I was REALLY fed up with ABs selfish "all about me attitude in the past. But I saw his interview with Ike Taylor and Artie Burns on NFL Network and it seems he is committed to developing Burns. Am I engaged in wishful thinking or has AB "grown up" over the off season?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Honestly, I think he has always been like that. It just gets overshadowed a lot by some of his me-first antics. He is 120 percent committed to being the best and wanting to win, and if helping Burns get better can achieve that so be it.

Can you shed any further light on why Martavis has not been fully reinstated yet? I find this very annoying....its now impacting a SECOND season!
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I cant other than the team believes it's another case of the NFL being slow to some procedural matters, just like when it took them a while to conditionally reinstate Bryant

Good morning, Gerry. It's only been a few days but have any WRs or DBs stood out so far? I feel like the last few spots for either position are up for grabs and it's fascinating to me.
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Yes, those are really the only two areas on the team where there is some competition for backup spots. Maybe RB too with Fitz Toussaint. Justin Hunter has looked good, but I still see too many drops for a veteran WR. And I don't see enough combat catches. None of the DBs have stood out too much, except Artie Burns. This guy Mike Hilton is a fiesty bugger.

Are you and Ed still attending practices in Latrobe? I haven't seen any videos posted this training camp yet...
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Yes, every day. The videos are on Facebook Live. Tune in.

Hi Gerry.  When do you think Martavis gets reinstated?  What else does he have to do?  Is this Goodell just trying to show everyone who is boss?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
I really don't know. It has nothing to do with Goodell's power. Has to do with slow procedural matters by the league
Kurt
11:08
How serious is Senquez injury?  How was he looking before he got hurt....AGAIN!!!
Gerry Dulac
11:09
He has a tear of the hamstring that's going to keep him out for a couple weeks. He's looked OK, but I would need to see him play in a game
dave
11:09
Do they have any idea when Bryant will be officially reinstated by the league?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
No

11:09
What do you think of James Conner so far? Will he be ready to start in the (probable) likelihood that Bell get injured?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
What limited time I've seen him he's looked OK. But he won't be the starter if Bell not there. Knile Davis will.
Mark
11:10
Gerry, if Artie Burns develops into a superstar, will he be AB II or AB Jr?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
I'll hold off on the superstar talk for now
Tom
11:10
If Landry Jones is out for an extended period, do they bring in a veteran backup QB?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Not now
Rags from Baltimore

Any updates on JuJu's ankle injury?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
No I don't really have one. I think theyre being cautious w him.
John
11:11
Any more news on the Golson hamstring injury?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
See above

11:11
High level, has TJ Watt displayed more athleticism and ability in a short week than Jarvis Jones showed in four years? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:11
He has shown a lot of that and toughness and aggression. I like what I see. Its apparent immediately

11:12
Has there been anything worth noting with the back up RBs? Terrell Watson, Trey Williams, Brown-Dukes?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Yes. I like Trey Williams -- his speed, quickness, cutting. Sturdy little guy. Watson hasn't looked bad either, Big guy who can run and turn upfield.
