What's up with Golson?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
See above answer
Nick
11:19
Hi Gerry, do the steelers provide beer and alcohol to drink in the training camp and also on the return flights or at nightly dinners? How do they keep the under 21s from drinking?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
No they don't.

Eric Winston (player association) was quoted that he and other players don't care if the NFL is around in 20 years.  Big money business, what say you about the future of the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Of course they don't care. They are only worried about themselves and the right-now. But they should care if they care about their pensions.

Is the talk about Bell not being in "football shape" a real issue? This is not the first season where he missed time early on...
Gerry Dulac
11:21
True, but even in those years when he was suspended he still participated in training camp and had pads on and got hit, even if it was just a little.

11:21
Can the Steelers truly evalute the talent at receiver when we have such poor play at QB in these preseason games? Looking forward to seeing Big Ben and Landy in there for a change!
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Actually, they might be able to evaluate better sometimes because receivers might have to adjust to poorly thrown passes or make even more difficult catches. But it's certainly better for the receivers when Ben is throwing them the ball rather than a rookie such as Josh Dobbs.

11:22
Is this group of defensive players combined with Butlers coaching capable of being a top 5 defense?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
I don't know yet. They certainly have the young talent that, if healthy, can be very good. Two things have to happen, and the most important is being able to get consistent pressure on the QB without blitzing. They do that, lots of other things start to fall into place, especially coverage.

Will anyone who is currently injured not be ready for week 1?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
Tough to say right now. Still too far away.
TXSteeler
11:24
So tweeting at you that' "the Steelers are in camp" around all your golf tweets is enough to get blocked? That's what you consider rude?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
I never said it was rude. You want unblocked?

James Conner is a 4th string RB according to the recently updated depth chart....why do the Steelers bother posting them if they aren't somewhat accurate?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
I think you are coming to understand not to play too much attention to the depth chart, especially in the preseason. Let your eyes be the depth chart
Nick
11:26
When you and Ed travel to the games, can you hitch a ride on the team charter plane? MLB teams stiil allow that, right?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
I don't know what baseball does, but Ed and I fly commercial, not with the team.
Sven
11:26
Danny Smiths team seems to have improved. Is that attributed to different players or different coaching?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
As Cousin Eddie said in Christmas Vacation, "I think you better hold off on that, Art."
Jeremy
11:27
What do you see the chances of the following training camp phenoms making 53?  Hilton, that new TE (Jake something), and the 2 RBs both T. W.?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Hilton has a good chance, but I'm afraid both RBs don't make it or the TE. I believe they are set at those positions and nothing is going to change. But I do like Terrell Watson and have always been impressed w Trey Williams' quicks.
Bill
11:29
how soon can we cut gay, and put hilton in his spot. He can't be any worse
Gerry Dulac
11:29
Hold your cards...
Joe
11:29
is this thing of bell not texting back ben a big deal or just drama that means nothing?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
It's only drama if the media makes it so. Don't think it's a big deal. Not going to affect how anyone plays.
Mr. Realist
11:30
We need to make a push to sign a cornerback and a backup QB I think.  Agree/Disagree?  Who can we nab?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
They only need a veteran backup if Landry Jones is out for extended period. I'll wait for the cuts to see what CB is available. Don't see anything that's appealing or makes sense right now. I wouldn't hold your breath.
Another Ed
11:35
Paul Zeise thinks the Steelers should sign Kaepernick, your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
Good for him.

11:35
Browns have to cut either Cody Kessler or Kevin Hogan...would you release Josh Dobbs and pick one of them up?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
No, and they won't either
Guest
11:35
Ben retires this team is in big trouble...throwing early round picks on Landry Jones and Dobbs clearly have not worked..where does Ben's replacement come from?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
I wouldn't call fourth-round picks "early round picks." Neither was drafted to be Ben's heir apparent. He's still out there.
Another Ed
11:36
I can't blame Lev Bell for holding off on signing his contract, I think he's just trying to protect his health while playing on this one year deal.  I think he is talented enough to come in with little practice and not miss a beat, your thougts?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
For the most part, I agree. The only one he is hurting potentially is himself. Guys who miss or skip training camp usually don't have the same type of season or tend to get injured. No scientific study, just an observation from years of watching.
SS
11:37
Is there someone on the team currently monitoring high school and college QBs for potential as a franchise replacement for Ben?  Wondering how far out that type of player is scouted.  Not that I'm interested in a replacement for Ben.
Gerry Dulac
11:37
No. Interested?
