Some sports guys who cover the Steelers think that Tomlin embarrassed a veteran player (James H) for no valid reason, by not playing him a few snaps.  Your thoughts?

I don't know. I don't think that was his intention if he did.  And I don't think JH was embarrassed as much as he was upset. I'll say this, the Steelers have not been afraid to make tough decisions on players such as Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu. Maybe this will be the latest, if it isn't already happening

Does MT almost allow excuses about rust, etc. when he talked about consequences for LB? What happened to 'the standard is the standard'? Are fans irrational for expecting a sharp performance from a group of professionals for only 16 days out of a year?

The Steeler offensive line has had a slow start. Everyone talks about the poor start of offense but I think most all can be attributed to the play of the line.

I think the play of the line has not been good for the run game. The pass pro has been fine for the most part. But at least it got better against Minnesota, not worse.

I see the Steelers signed OT Jake Rodgers to the practice squad this morning. Was this done b/c of the Marcus Gilbert hamstring injury? Do you think Gilbert might miss the game Sunday?

I don't know that yet. He didn't seem too concerned after the game on Sunday about his hammy, but I'll get a better idea once they get back on the field this afternoon.

I've been real impressed w Alualu. Colbert found a gem this offseason. Why doesn't Colbert get more credit in the national media, for being an elite GM in the draft and find complementary FA pieces?

There were times that TJ lined up on the left side, is this a new look?  I was under the impression he would only play on the right?

That was your impression, not anyone else's. He will play predominantly on the right, but the Steelers will flip em from time to time. Sometimes they will line Dupree and Watt on the same side. They just want to give the offense different looks.
