Kanter can really help a team, though we've seen this movie before. Can he stay on the floor in the playoffs? Gortat may be a better fit for someone who's more of an insurance policy against a team's starting center.

Without a deadline there wouldn't be the added pressure to make trades in a restricted time period, I think it'd lessen the urgency

The only thing that's pushing people to get deals done today is the pressure of the deadline.  Move it to midnight and you won't see more deals, you'll just see teams waiting another couple of hours to pull the trigger.
