Any chance that the Cavs use Rubio/Sexton's contract to add more help on the wing?
Luke Adams
12:32
Could definitely see them doing something with Rubio's contract. Sexton's is a little more valuable since he'll be an RFA rather than a UFA.
12:33
I've wondered if the Cavs may be reluctant to move Rubio because they want to keep his Bird rights and re-sign him, but at his age, coming off an injury like an ACL tear, they may not need his Bird rights to bring him back... He's probably looking at an MLE-type deal.

Do you think that this will be a busy trade deadline year? Hearing that 2022 Free Agency with the lack of cap space could be sparse.
Luke Adams
12:34
When cap space is lacking, the trade market in general is more active -- that could mean a busy deadline, or it could mean there a bunch of offseason trades. I'm rooting for both!

Any predictions for a surprising trade deadline deal outside of the usual rumor mill suspects?
Luke Adams
12:36
I'd love to be daring enough to predict a Zion Williamson trade, but I wouldn't count on any huge surprises like that. Maybe Christian Wood? I know his name has been mentioned in a rumor or two, but he hasn't been brought up nearly as much as guys like Jerami Grant, Myles Turner, etc. I wouldn't be shocked if the Rockets cashed in on him now (if not now, potentially in the offseason).

Will anyone take my salary in a trade?  If so, which teams could possibly add me?
Luke Adams
12:37
I don't see it. There are certainly some teams that could accommodate your salary, but the list of teams that could take on the salary, would be a logical fit for you, and would be willing to give up the sort of return the Lakers would want is basically nonexistent.

Do you anticipate any moves by the Mavericks?  I would think  Doncic and Brunson are the only two untouchable.
Luke Adams
12:39
The amount of chatter surrounding Brunson and Finney-Smith lately has surprised me a little and is slowly convincing me that something might be up. But I don't think the Mavs will trade Brunson, and Finney-Smith is probably only on the move for a player who's essentially a better version of Finney-Smith (or a major upgrade at another position).

Is Leon Rose’s strategy of asset gathering while fielding a somewhat competitive team better than “tanking” and playing young players and trying to get high draft picks to build around?
Luke Adams
12:42
I like it better than repeatedly bringing in young players to a 20-win team, but your mileage may vary. A well-run organization can generally develop useful young players without needing to be picking in the top 10 to get them.

Andrew Wiggins has played up to the value of his contract this season.   Do you see the Warriors extending him this offseason with one year left or with Kuminga on the roster trading for depth pieces?
Luke Adams
12:44
No reason for the Warriors to rush into a new deal with Wiggins when he's coming off a career year. A lot can happen in the next year-and-a-half, but I'd imagine their plan for now is to let his contract play out and then make a decision. They'll have his Bird rights at that point.

do you think there is a chance the Knicks picked up Reddish to use as "Bait" for a bigger trade? I read a great article about that scenario in the comments section on NBA Trade Rumors community shoot around about Jerami Grant
Luke Adams
12:46
I suppose it's possible, but as Travis Schlenk pointed out after making the trade, a first-round pick (even a protected one) probably makes more sense as a sweetener in a bigger trade than Reddish. Not every GM will be a fan of Reddish, but all of them will appreciate a first-round pick.
Dragic
12:46
Any news on a potential trade/ buy out? Is Goran heading to Dallas?
Luke Adams
12:47
Very little chatter about Dragic lately. I suspect the Raptors are waiting to see if they can use his expiring contract in a trade. If not, a buyout is very likely.

Sixers: Haliburton, Hield, Barnes, Thompson
Kings: Tobias, Simmons, Milton, 2022 1st Rounder

Are the Kings desperate enough to take this? I don't get the star i've wanted but Embiid would have all the space he needs.
Luke Adams
12:49
I'd need to check the numbers -- not sure that's enough salary from the Kings to match the incoming Sixers contracts. Either way though, I'd be very reluctant to make that move if I'm the Kings. Haliburton is on a great contract for a couple more years and that 2022 first-rounder likely won't be a high one.

12:49
who besides Jerami Grant do you see the Pistons moving?
Luke Adams
12:50
Olynyk (not really sure why they signed him in the first place), Lyles, and - of course - McGruder (second time's a charm?). I doubt they move any of their young guys unless it's in a blockbuster for someone like Simmons.
12:51
Could also see them moving Joseph or Jackson (either one).

12:51
Do the Raps get their big man at the deadline or wait until the offseason?
Luke Adams
12:52
Maybe an opportunity arises at the deadline, but offseason seems more likely. Given how few teams will have cap room, they could potentially get someone pretty solid with the mid-level.
Hubert Cumberdale
12:52
what will it take for the Cavs to get LeVert from INDY? Any other possible Cavs targets out there?
Luke Adams
12:54
For as often as I've seen the Cavs linked to LeVert, I'm not sure if they make sense as a trade partner for Indiana, unless the Pacers would accept Rubio's expiring contract and a single first-round pick. Maybe they could figure out something involving Sexton, but it'd be trickier.

12:54
Can I finally get a standard NBA deal?
Luke Adams
12:55
If the Clippers sell off a player or two at the deadline, you're a great candidate for a promotion to the 15-man roster. No room for the time being...

12:55
What’s your opinion on Marcus Smart’s trade value?
Luke Adams
12:57
His defense is valuable, but he's never really been a weapon on offense, and that's been more obvious than ever this season. I feel like Stevens and the Celtics might value him too highly for a deal to be realistic.

12:57
Can the Knicks get a first round pick for Alec Burks?
Luke Adams
12:59
As always, depends on which player the Knicks are acquiring in the deal and how heavily the pick is protected. I think it's plausible (Burks has been really solid the last couple years), but it wouldn't be a lottery pick, and the Knicks might have to take back a player they don't want.

12:59
Think something along the lines of Sexton/Rubio for Eric Gordon might make sense?
Luke Adams

I can't see the Rockets being particularly motivated by that sort of deal, given all the time they've put into developing Kevin Porter and Jalen Green. They'd probably prefer a draft pick.

Thanks for all the questions, guys! I'll be back next Tuesday to do this again.
