How does Troy Weaver still have the GM job in Detroit? They are in the 4th year of their rebuild and just keep getting worse
Luke Adams
10:39
It does feel like Weaver needs to do something good at this season's deadline, or the Pistons need to see some real positive steps forward from their young players in the second half. If that doesn't happen, I could see the team making a change in the spring.

Does the addition of OG Anunoby improve the  Knicks defense enough to make them one of the top 4 teams in the East?
Luke Adams
10:40
They're not better than the Celtics, Bucks, or Sixers, but they have a case for the fourth spot. I think I'd still take the Heat in a playoff series, but the Knicks might not be done yet.

Where will Bojan Bogdanovic end up?
Luke Adams
10:42
Bojan Bogdanovic in Detroit feels a little like Eric Gordon in Houston a couple years ago, where the asking price was always too high even though it seemed like the team had to trade him sooner or later. The Rockets ended up waiting (arguably) too long and settling for a pretty modest return for Gordon. Now is the time for the Pistons to trade Bojan if they want to avoid a similar fate -- he's been playing really well since he's been back and could legitimately help a playoff team.
10:44
On the other hand, I do wonder if the Pistons will be reluctant to move one of the few veterans on a team that could desperately use some sort of stability right now. But if he does get dealt... I sorta like OKC as a fit? Lakers might be interesting too.

Saw a report that the Wiz want multiple 1st rounders for Kuzma... Do you think they will get a package like that for him? What teams do you think would be interested.
Luke Adams
10:45
I think I offered a similar answer in a chat last month, but it all comes down to the caliber of the first-rounders. If you're getting a 2024 pick likely to be in the mid-20s, plus a future pick with modest protections? Sure, that's realistic. But I don't see a team giving up two future unprotected first-rounders for Kuzma. He's not stout enough defensively to warrant that price.

Do you think the Spurs willtrade Keldon Johnson?
Luke Adams
10:47
I'd be surprised, though they could probably get a pretty strong return if they did make him available. His declining contract is team-friendly.

One of our Pistons beat writers said that many contending teams have interest in Isaiah Stewart. Do you think the Pistons are open to trading him? What do you think they could get for him?
Luke Adams
10:49
Stewart will be tricky to trade this season because of the poison pill provision -- he'll count for about $5.3MM in outgoing money for the Pistons, but $13MM+ in incoming money for the team acquiring him. That would complicate any in-season trade talks, but I don't think he should necessarily be considered part of the long-term core there.

Saw this trade posted on X....Who says no? Dejounte Murray and Wesley Matthews to the Knicks for Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier & Two 1st rounders (DAL '24, MIL '25)
Luke Adams
10:51
Would take more than that to entice the Hawks. It wasn't that long ago that they gave up two unprotected first-rounders + an unprotected swap for Murray, and they've extended him since then on a pretty team-friendly contract. If they seriously consider moving him, the price will be high.

With the Lakers having difficulty scoring and winning lately, will this make it more likely that they will trade for Zach LaVine from the Bulls?
Luke Adams
10:53
More likely, sure. I still don't think he's a great fit for them, but if they get desperate and the Bulls are willing to accept a package closer to the Beal one than, say, a Donovan Mitchell one, it could happen.

How about this trade idea Luke.... Monte Morris to the Kings for Sasha Vezenkov? A healthy Morris would be a HUGE upgrade for SAC at backup PG & the Kings are barely playing the former Euro League MVP Vezenkov.
Luke Adams
10:55
I like it for the Kings. I'm just not sure how much trade value Veznkov has -- he's not exactly a prospect at age 28, so a rebuilding team would have limited interest, and he's not getting minutes for a playoff team right now, so where does he fit? The Pistons would probably want more, assuming Morris is healthy.

Tell me the Magic are going to add an impact player at the deadline. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a shot at LaVine if the price is right (Basically a salary dump)
Luke Adams
10:57
The Magic have been incredibly patient over the last few years -- since their fire sale of Vucevic and co., they've essentially been happy to roll over the same roster and add a couple rookies each year. Presumably that'll change eventually, but I'm in "I'll believe it when I see it" mode with them. They might be more inclined to wait until the summer to do something drastic. Though I do agree that they're one of the few teams where LaVine makes some real sense.

Appreciate you answering my Question about ATL trading Murray to NY.... One point.. The Rockets only gave up a injured and out for the season Galinari to get Murray... The Knicks wouldbe giving HOU a pretty talented young player in Quentin Gries
Luke Adams
10:59
True, but he's not enough to make up the difference in the draft picks, especially since he'll be up for an extension this summer. I just think that in order to move Murray, the Hawks would need at least one unprotected first-rounder that has a chance to end up in the lottery. The Dallas and Milwaukee picks, with their protections and current projects, aren't very high-upside.

11:00
Any chance we'll ever see Bojan Bogdanovic and Bodgan Bogdanovic on the same team?
Luke Adams
11:00
Well, Bojan is a trade candidate and it sounds like Atlanta's willing to listen to anything, so you never know! Have to imagine every play-by-play commentator out there is rooting against it.
11:01
Thanks for the questions today, guys! Apologies if I wasn't able to get to yours, but we'll be doing two chats each week between now and the trade deadline, so there will be more opportunities.
Have a great week!
