This is the sort of structure that I think would make a lot of sense for Atlanta, as I mentioned earlier -- getting 2-3 solid rotation players, including a point guard, would be a good return for Young even if you don't get any draft picks out of it.

If I'm the Hawks, I'd be a little worried about adding Ellis to a group whose best defenders are already all guards. And if I'm the Kings, I'd be a bit concerned about whether Young is the guy I want to bet on as my point guard of the future. But I don't hate it for either team.

Not sure I agree with you Boston will not aim to avoid the luxury tax, with a view of the repeater tax.

If they can find a way to do it, I'm sure they'd love to. But it's hard to trim $13MMish from your payroll during the season without either making your team worse or giving up real draft capital. I just don't think it'll be nearly as big a priority as it would be if they were .500.

Why does Jordan Goodwin have such a hard time getting a long-term contract? He seems to play well, yet, every season he’s looking for a job and one of the last ones signed. He’s outperforming his contact with the Suns this year. What’s up?

Yeah, I like him and was sorta surprised the Lakers waived him last summer. It feels like that archetype (the defensive-minded point guard with offensive limitations) isn't necessarily highly valued around the league. Dennis Smith Jr. can't find a job, for instance, and Keon Ellis has had a hard time getting regular playing time in Sacramento. But Goodwin has been good enough offensively to earn a better contract when this one's up.

After what happened with Luka last year, I can't rule anything out. Like, if LeBron makes a trade request on Jan. 29, I'd be surprised, but not stunned. It's a scenario I can imagine.

Still, all signs right now are pointing to him finishing the season in L.A. and then figuring out in the summer what his next move is.

Thanks for all the questions today, guys. Arthur will be hosting his weekly chat for Front Office subscribers on Thursday this week, then I'll be back next Monday to do this again. Have a great week!
