Will the Pistons make a trade at the deadline? If so, who will be the odd man out?
Dana Gauruder
4:02
The big move was probably already made when they acquired Bojan and signed him to an extension. Perhaps Burks will have some value at that point -- he's supposed to come back as early as tomorrow -- and there's always the Killian Hayes issue. They could move him if they find decent value. But mainly, they'll just try to grow this group. Early signs regarding Ivey and Duren have been very encouraging.

What do the hornets have to do to be relevant? Whatever we are doing now isn’t working
Dana Gauruder
4:06
Hard to win without your best player in the NBA. The team will look better when Ball comes back. Rozier has only played 5 games -- there's your backcourt. Perhaps they can pull the trigger on a Hayward deal. Best thing for Charlotte might just be having some lottery luck for a change. The Hornets owe San Antonio a first rounder but it's lottery protected.

DeMarcus Cousins look like he would be a good add back with the Warriors. He can be a rim protector and is good on offense both shooting the three and in the post.  Wiseman is clearly not ready to be the starting center. What am I missing?
Dana Gauruder
4:09
Mainly, that the team is invested in developing Wiseman rather than a stopgap measure. If it comes to a point where they feel it's essential to get another big man, they'll do it. But from everything I've read from beat reporters there and comments by Myers/Kerr, they're a long way from giving up on Wiseman. He did miss all of last season, so it's understandable he's having some issues. I wouldn't mind seeing him go to Santa Cruz for a little bit to get his confidence up.

So the Jazz just outplayed the Hawks for most of yesterday's game, came back from a 10 point deficit, and made it look easy. How real are they at this point? I realize the 3pt shooting is unsustainable, but given how many good shooters they have, it's not going to bottom out. And they've shown a knack for getting second-chance opportunities as well.
Dana Gauruder
4:12
I think they're wrecking the Jazz's plans of getting a high lottery pick! You are right, some of their shooting won't be sustainable. They have some hungry vets (Lauri, Kelly, Clarkson, Conley) who are really blending well. The young coach Hardy has done a fantastic job getting these guys prepared every game. I could see this group in the play-in tournament now and that's better than most people anticipated.

What do you see as the biggest need for the Blazers at this point? They look good in almost every way. Maybe a legit 6th man type off the bench, but the bench has honestly been pretty good by plurality.
Dana Gauruder
4:16
Glad to see Chauncey, one of the best guys in the league that I've covered, doing well out there. If they can keep the core group healthy, they can challenge for a spot in the top six. Big if considering the injury history of some of those guys. Grant has fit in well, which I anticipated, but I'd like to see more proven players coming off that bench. They don't have a double digit scorer in reserve at the moment, so I could a instant O guy like Clarkson as being a target.

What do you think of the mess in minnesota t- wolves?
Dana Gauruder
4:20
5-7 isn't time for panic but I was skeptical from the beginning whether Gobert/Towns combo in a league where smaller lineups are all the rage would work. Plus, not sold on Russell as a championship level point man. The bench isn't dynamic, though they have some solid pieces. They went all-in on Gobert with the assets they gave up, so there's not a whole lot they can do beyond just hoping they can find some chemistry with Towns and Gobert on the floor a majority of the time.

How much accountability is on LeBron for this season’s Lakers roster? It seems like that was last year’s news with the Westbrook trade and this current roster is all on the front office.
Dana Gauruder
4:23
He wanted Westbrook there before the trade. Things would look a lot better if they had held on to some of those role players, right? The thing is, once they brought in Westrbrook -- plus all the draft picks they already gave up for AD -- they were hamstrung in what they can do. They tried some aging stars last year, brought in more athletic young players to replace them. They had to do that. But unless they finally pull the trigger on Westbrook trade, it's not going to get much better.

So with Steve Nash already fired who would you say is now the hottest coaching seat right now
Dana Gauruder
4:28
I don't know if there's an imminent change on the horizon. Doc, perhaps, if the Sixers struggle into the holidays? Philadelphia isn't just looking to make the playoffs. And we're always one losing streak away from talking about Thibs' job. But I think we need another month of action before coaching changes start occurring. The Nash situation was unique because that whole situation was such a mess and I think he was happy to get away from it.

What kind of package could the Timberwolves look to get for KAT when he becomes eligible to be traded, if they decide to move on from him?
Dana Gauruder
4:31
Similar to what the Lakers gave up for AD. Lots and lots of draft picks, a quality young player or two and some salary-matching throw-ins. If my info is correct, he'll be a free agent in 2024. But he's not eligible to be traded until next summer, so nothing can happen until then. Yeah, I think there would be plenty of teams in that sweepstakes, given he's still in his mid-20s.

3rd & final thing Guys do u see the hornets coach Steve Clifford being fired this year? Not off to a good start I know it’s early but seem like they don’t wanna play for him 🏀
Dana Gauruder
4:34
They had a lot of trouble finding someone to coach there -- they're still smarting from having Atkinson turned them down at the altar, so to speak -- so I don't think MJ is eager to look for and pay another head coach. He hasn't even had a chance to coach the team with Ball running the show. Clifford will look a lot smarter when they've got their point man back. A lot of people probably figured Dennis Smith would have to trouble getting on an NBA roster again and he's been starting for them.

Is it just my 2k brain or couple of big market teams like Lakers, Heat, Nets are at a dead end and have to blow up in order to salvage whatever future they have left?
Dana Gauruder
4:39
It's awfully hard to blow things up unless you can move your best pieces for fair value. The Nets and Durant found that out this summer. The Lakers could try to shop AD, I imagine, but that would be a hard sell to their fans unless they get another star in return. The Heat are just off to a slow start but they always find a groove and present danger in the playoffs. I can't see them blowing it up unless this season really goes into the tank.

realist trade options for the Cavaliers to upgrade the 3 ? who can be moved ?
Dana Gauruder
4:46
LeVert or Osman? I'm not seeing anyone outside their core group that would bring in a whole lot of value. Okoro's lack of development is probably the biggest issue there. They invested a No. 5 pick on him and really aren't getting anything in return at the moment. As for trade targets, is there an ideal guy out there that's available? Perhaps Harrison Barnes, who's off to a slow start in Sacramento. Better targets may pop up closer to the deadline when teams are fully ready to go into tank mode. But also realize they gave up a lot of assets to acquire Mitchell.

So with the Lakers sinking Like a Stone and New Orleans not only has the ability to swap picks this year but they can actually take the Lakers 24 or 25 draft pick should I go ahead and start preparing for the Pelicans Dynasty now
Dana Gauruder
4:50
Put it this way, if the Pelicans were a stock, I'd make a healthy investment in them. They're off to a ho-hum start but with that roster, they should be a top 5 team in the West and a perennial contender for several years. You've got Zion, Ingram and CJ along with JV, plus some nice young pieces around them. They play 8 of their next 10 games at home, so I would anticipate their record will look a lot better by the end of the month than it does now.

Where does Carmelo Anthony end up? The lakers? Warriors?
Dana Gauruder
4:53
What, he doesn't want to join Dwight in Taiwan? Not sure where he'll end up. I've seen some suggestions that Phoenix should pursue him with Cam out for an extended period. Going along with the injury theme, perhaps the Raptors could use a stopgap. Carmelo is 38 and he only wants to play for a contender but that's the kind of situation where it would make some sense for both parties.

Appreciate this guys who’s ur pick to win it all!🏀.
Dana Gauruder

Not the Magic, for sure. It's so early but I have to like the way the Bucks are playing. They've looked so good even without Middleton. If Williams can be reasonably healthy in the postseason, certainly the Celtics are a big threat. On the other side, the West is really wide open. If Kawhi can get back to good health, the Clippers are obviously dangerous. Pels and Grizzlies have such good rosters, either of those up and comers could get to the mountaintop. I'd still like to see what the Nuggets can do with a healthy roster. Overall, I'd give a slight edge to the Celtics but it's just good to have a lot of competition, rather than going back to the days with LeBron and Cleveland and Golden State almost automatically made the Finals.

How important is Grant Williams to the Celtics?
Dana Gauruder
5:00
Nice rotation piece, allows them to play small at time and is on a rookie contract. Good value right now, he was solid in the playoffs last year.
That's all the time we have for today. Luke Adams will field your questions on our next live chat on Tuesday at noon CT. Thanks.
