Do you think Wall should be willing to decline his player option to get out of Houston? By the end of this season he'll have made 200+ million for his career so if he truly wants to play ball, money shouldn't be a problem. Would the Players Association take issue with this?
Luke Adams

I can't see it happening. There's far more precedent - especially in recent years - for a player being bought out with two years left on his max deal than for a player to help out his team by declining a massive option. My best guess is that the Rockets and Wall ultimately go the Kemba Walker/Blake Griffin route -- he'll give up a chunk of money, but nothing near the $47MM his option is worth.

I never thought I would ask this before this season, but with Maxey’s play, who has more trade value? Simmons of Maxey?
Luke Adams
12:42
It's still Simmons, but I agree it's closer than I would've expected a few months ago. It's been a real silver lining for the Sixers that Simmons' absence has allowed Maxey to blossom like he has.

How long does Pop stay to develop the Spurs? Who replaces him when he leaves?
Luke Adams
12:44
I think there's a very real chance this is Popovich's last year. He does seem to be having a blast working with the young Spurs roster, so maaaaybe one more year beyond 2021/22. But I'd be shocked if he coaches past '22/23.
12:45
As for his replacement, Becky Hammon has long been a popular choice, but there will be no shortage of candidates from the Popovich coaching tree. Will Hardy is one worth watching closely.

What are the likely trade destinations for Christian Wood and what kind of value do you see Houston getting back for him?
Luke Adams
12:48
This is a tricky one. Wood's recent play seems like proof that he's a better fit at the 5 than the 4, so I'm not sure that teams with established star centers would be great fits. I could see a team like the Hornets making a play for him.
12:50
As for the return, the Rockets have prioritized draft picks in their other recent trades -- I'd expect that trend to continue. They'd probably pursue a return like the one the Magic got for Vucevic, but have to settle for less (either two picks or one pick and one young player, rather than the two picks and a player the Magic got for Vooch).

Do think  beal stays with Washington after this year. ?
Luke Adams
12:51
Depends on how this year plays out, but I'm more confident about it now than I have been in the past. I get the sense he likes the team's direction and will want to see Sheppard's plan through.

Do you think Boucher and/or Dragic will be traded?
Luke Adams
12:52
They'll both certainly be on the trade block. Not sure they have much value at this point -- Boucher can't stay in the rotation and Dragic's salary is too high.

Does Harden stay with the Nets? Any chance of a sign and trade for Simmons if he's still in Philly?
Luke Adams
12:54
This idea is far more interesting to me than an Irving/Simmons swap. Obviously Morey is a bigger fan of Harden than of Kyrie, and the Nets would probably be more inclined to roll the dice on Simmons if they were getting him for a player that wanted to leave.
There are a lot of factors that could derail it (Simmons getting traded before then, Harden not wanting to leave), so I'm not really expecting it to happen, but it's a fun concept.

Aside from anything involving the two Jays, is there anything Boston can realistically do to upgrade their roster?
Celtics

Does it still make sense to target Myles Turner?
Luke Adams
12:57
The Celtics are one of the biggest puzzles in the league to me. I go back and forth on whether they need to go all-in on Tatum/Brown and make a deal for another impact player to complement them or whether it makes more sense to trade one of the two.
12:58
I lean more often toward the former, and the Celtics probably have the assets to take a swing for a player like Turner. Maybe they'd even make sense as a Christian Wood destination, if Turner isn't available.

What do you predict regarding the Ben Simmons situation. What they’re saying is they’ll wait it out until a good offer arises. Is it not more likely he’s gone before the new year to add someone to help the 76ers challenge this year?

As much as we're all waiting for December 15 (when 100+ more players become trade-eligible), we generally still have to wait a few more weeks after that for bigger deals to be made. I'm expecting Simmons to still be a Sixer when the calendar turns to 2022, with talks heating up closer to the trade deadline.
Thanks for all your questions today! There will be no chat next Tuesday, but I'll be back at the same time on December 14.
