What do the raps have to give up to get SGA?
Dana Gauruder
11:04
You'd have to give either Siakam or Barnes as part of the package. OKC isn't going to give up a 30-point scorer without one of those players being part of the deal. I don't any incentive for the Thunder to trade their best player unless they're getting another star-level player in return, plus some other assets.

Wouldn’t the Lakers be better off blowing it up?? That team is a joke
Dana Gauruder
11:10
In order to "blow it up," you need desirable assets. Beyond trading AD, what do they have? They have to attach what little assets they have left ('27 and '29 first rounders) to shed Westbrook's expiring contract. If you really want to blow it up, you just hold onto that salary this year and get the cap relief next summer. LeBron's not going anywhere unless he demands a trade. A lot of the other guys are on expiring contracts. So really, beyond trading AD for assets, their best course of action is to hit the reset button after the season.

Any teams could realistically take on Matt Ryan either as a part of the main roster or on a two way? The lack of defense has cost him in both Boston and Los Angeles...?
Dana Gauruder
11:12
He
11:14
hasn't done a very good job quarterbacking the Colts either. Just kidding. They could easily shed Ryan's minimum contract and pick up another minimum salary free agent if they wanted to.

Knicks record isn’t great but they have been right in there in most of their losses and have beaten up on the sub 500 teams so I’m still optimistic. Crazy or not?
Dana Gauruder
11:17
It would help if they could schedule more games against the Pistons. They look the 1972-73 Knicks when they play Detroit. No one would be questioning Randle's salary, either. He had 36 vs. them in 3 quarters. There are some good pieces there -- Brunson is a really solid point guard, though they had to move mountains to get him. RJ is a solid player if not a superstar. But there's still a nagging feeling that in the much improved East, they still need a major piece or two to be true contender.

As Chicago continues to underwhelm, who even make senses as a suitor for DeRozan, let alone Vuceivic?
Dana Gauruder
11:22
Considering how well DeRozan played last year, there's certainly a market out there for him. It would more dictated by where teams are approaching the deadline. If you feel like he's the missing piece, you're inclined to make a move. He'd fit a lot of teams -- Suns, Cavs, Sixers, Mavs, Nuggets all come to mind. And he's got one year left on his deal. Vucevic's situation is different because he's a free agent after the season. He'd only be a rental for a contender.

The Cavs badly need a backup center who can come in when Jarrett Allen is on the bench or injured. Lopez isn't terrible, but he's very slow. It's probably their biggest weakness even more so than the SF platoon. Who is a realistic trade target for them?
Dana Gauruder
11:26
There are plenty of backup centers out there, depending on what type of big man you want. How about another dose of Andre Drummond, since we were just talking about Bulls trades? I know in Detroit, Nerlens Noel is just kind of languishing on their bench. I see the Cavs making some sort of move to fortify that spot.

How concerned should I be about Scotty Barnes' slow start?
Dana Gauruder
11:28
Very slim to none. He was an untouchable in trade talks when KD demanded a trade over the summer. He
11:29
has been inconsistent for 6 weeks but he's 21 and projected to be an All-Star level talent for many years to come. I don't think he went from being a potential superstar to an ordinary player overnight.

Can you make the case why one would not concur with Jokic's assessment that Houston run its offense through Sengun?
Dana Gauruder
11:32
That was an interesting comment. I haven't seen enough of Sengun to know if he has that kind of talent. It certainly wouldn't hurt the Rockets to experiment with that approach. If he the ability to what the Joker does on a nightly basis, then Houston's future is very bright.

How is what Utah doing any better than last season? Sure they have more depth, but all respect to Lauri, no pathway to gaining that championship capable leading star?
Dana Gauruder
11:35
The Jazz got off to a surprising start but have dropped down to the low bar set for them after the Mitchell trade. A big part of it is that Conley has been sidelined during the slide and they miss his crunch time leadership. But ultimately I think Ainge will start dealing off some of those veteran pieces.

Did the Celtics make a mistake trading away Bol Bol?
Dana Gauruder
11:38
He was injured quite a bit the past couple of years and the opportunity wasn't there. At the trade deadline last season, Williams had established himself as the starting middle man for years to come. I doubt they anticipated the injury problems he's had. However, they're doing quite well without Williams or Bol at the moment.

Does Dallas make sense as a Kemba destination? Though they were looking for scoring and ballhandling, how is he gonna hold up on the defensive end?
Dana Gauruder
11:41
They weren't getting much out of Campazzo, so they took a flyer on Kemba. They're looking for an offensive spark to take a little pressure off Doncic, especially if he needs to sit out some games at some point.

Why won't Charlotte budge and start selling off vets? Probably good enough Victor odds as anybody?
Dana Gauruder
11:46
I can't see the Hornets standing pat through the trade deadline. They'll be sellers, it's just a matter of getting the right price in those deals. I think the trade market will open up among all teams once some of the free agents who were signed are eligible to dealt on Dec. 15. I figured it would be a rough season for Charlotte even if Ball was healthy and he's only played 3 games. Yeah, they will be in the VW sweepstakes for sure.

Is Middeton more of a difference maker for the Bucks than Williams III is for the Celtics?
Dana Gauruder
11:48
That's more of an apples-to-oranges comparison. Middleton gives the Bucks that No. 2 or 3 scoring option and eases the burden on Giannis. Williams keyed the Celtics' interior defense after he emerged last season. He's their best "dirty work" guy. They're both supremely valuable in different ways.

11:50
What's the best way for the Kings to improve their defense without sacrificing their elite offensive rating too much?
Dana Gauruder
11:53
It's just kind of the way they're built. Sabonis is a highly skilled offensive big man but he's not a shot blocker or menacing defensive presence. You got through their roster, the only guy who really has the reputation of being a superior defender is Mitchell. That was one of the reasons they drafted him even though they already had Haliburton and Fox at the time. Sac's probably going to have to win a lot of 120-115 games but it's quite capable of doing that.

what would it take for GSW to get thybulle from Philly?   its a perfect fit
Dana Gauruder
11:56
Probably on the cheap. The Sixers soured on him and he's only getting 11 or 12 minutes of action per game. They've been looking to deal him for awhile. If Myers felt adding Thybulle to the rotation would help the second unit he could get that done pronto.

Are the clips hanging on to their wings rather than flip them for a big? Though George and Leonard are always getting injured, Zubac looks to be more than serviceable
Dana Gauruder
11:59
It was fitting that Zubac did that vs. the Pacers, considering the Clippers are one of Turner's rumored destinations. Their No. 1 concern at this time is just getting their two stars on the court, Kawhi especially. They gave him a whole season off to heal and he's still only played 5 games. Very troubling.

11:59
Who says no if the Pistons offered Saddiq Bey, Alec Burks & Nerlens Noel to the Hawks for John Collins?
Dana Gauruder
12:00
Do the Pistons want Collins that badly? I'm not sure Troy Weaver is that big a fan of Collins, plus they just re-signed a young PF (Bagley) and they are playing Stewart there more often.
