Hey guys, apologies for the delay in starting today's chat. We'll get going in about 20 minutes. Get your questions in now!
1:33
Alright, let's do this!
Rocket Man
1:33
The Rockets offered four first round picks for Jimmy Butler.  Four first round picks along with Capela and Chriss get Davis and Darius Miller from the Pelicans?
Luke Adams
1:35
I don't know how appealing those first-round picks would be. You've gotta figure that a Rockets team with Harden and AD would be drafting near the bottom of the first round for a while. I think it'll take more than that -- ie. more pieces that could help New Orleans in the shorter term, rather than in 2025.

1:36
Your take on the Porzingis trade?
Luke Adams
1:39
I don't hate it for the Knicks. It'll look like a disaster if Porzingis gets healthy and makes an Embiid-esque star turn in the next year or two, but it's not like he was a picture of health even before the ACL tear.
You figure ditching Lee and THJ for expirings would have cost the Knicks a first-rounder or two if they hadn't included Porzingis, so getting two first-rounders on top of that is nice.
1:40
As for the Mavs' side, it's a worthwhile gamble. They have two potential top-20 guys for the foreseeable future if it works out.
Bobby
1:40
2 rumors circling the Utah Jazz, is anything close?
Luke Adams
1:41
Sounds like they're further down the road on Conley than anything else. If they make a major move before the deadline, I think that might be the one, though salary-matching will be an interesting obstacle.
Jason L.
1:41
Joel Embiid proved last night that the Warriors still need another Big man, correct?  If DeMarcus Cousins’ reinsures his Achilles on the Eve of the playoffs, Warriors are staring at Kevon Looney trying to guard Adams, Gobert, Jokic, Embiid, etc.
Luke Adams
1:42
The Warriors still seem to be in the market for a big man on the buyout market (Robin Lopez, etc.). "Need" is relative though -- I think they're still the obvious title favorites with or without more frontcourt insurance.
Jimmy
1:42
Should Danny Ainge get ahead of the Irving situation and trade him?
Luke Adams
1:44
That'd be an overreaction. He has been the Celtics' best player by far this season, and they could still conceivably come out of the East. There's no need to blow things up just because he's not 100% committing to re-signing in February.
Rob
1:44
Do the Pacers just blow it up now?  They clearly need Dipo.  So, do they go ahead and trade all expiring contracts and possibly trade Sabonis?
Luke Adams
1:45
The Pacers have never been eager to rebuild and I doubt that changes now. Any moves they make will probably be aimed more toward 2019/20 than this season, but a full-fledged tear-down is unrealistic.

You're the Pelicans.....you take what the Lakers are offering or do you wait?
Luke Adams
1:48
Hard to say, since we don't know what 15-20 teams in the league might be offering. The Lakers' reported offer (Ball, Kuzma, Ingram, Zubac, first-rounder) is definitely intriguing, but I'm not sure there's a player in that group with MVP upside -- it's not even a lock that any will ever make an All-Star team. The Pelicans might do what the Pacers (Oladipo/Sabonis) and Spurs (DeRozan) did and try to lock up one or two really strong assets, rather than a collection of 4-5 solid ones.
Fire Ernie
1:48
What do you see as realistic trade scenarios for Wall, Beal or Porter? Any hope for DC fans in the future?
Luke Adams
1:50
If Ted Leonsis is to be trusted, nothing's happening on the "Big Three" front within the next week. If I were the Wizards, I'd think long and hard about moving on from Ernie Grunfeld and seeing what a new GM could do with the roster in the offseason. Wall will be very difficult to move, but you could get a decent asset or two for Porter.
Bulls Fans
1:51
Will Jabari Parker and Robin Lopez get dealt before the deadline?
Luke Adams
1:52
Lopez has a better chance than Parker, but it wouldn't shock me if both guys end up being bought out instead. My opinion would change if the Bulls show they're willing to take on multiyear money, but it's really hard to move those big expiring contracts for other expiring deals and get anything worthwhile in return.
Rob
1:52
Who do you think has the higher upside - Pascal Siakam or Brandon Ingram?
Luke Adams
1:53
If they were both to reach their full potential, I'd rather have Ingram. But I think Siakam is probably more LIKELY to reach his full potential than Ingram.

What happens if the Knicks don't land any of the top 5-6 FA in the offseason? (KD, Kyrie, Kawhi, Klay, Boogie, Jimmy Butler)
Luke Adams
1:55
That's the $70MM+ question. The absolute worst thing they could do is to blow all the money on long-term contracts for second- or third-tier guys. I think they'll avoid that scenario though. 2016 was a valuable learning experience for a lot of teams. Their best bet would be a combination of one-year contracts (which could potentially be flipped later) and trades for expiring salaries with assets attached. They could always try their luck again in 2020 (even if it would look horrible after the KP trade).

Am I staying on the Knicks for the rest of the Season?  I’d look good on my hometown Houston Rockets team or playing in Oakland with my friend KD.
Luke Adams
1:56
It's hard for me to imagine you finishing the season with the Knicks, considering they have little interest in winning and you're still playing pretty well. On the other hand, you almost seem too valuable to end up on the buyout market. Will be fascinating to see what happens -- I could definitely see a fit with the Rockets.
Twolves
1:57
Is Andrew Wiggins tradeable with his contract?  Would they be able to get any value out of him because of his age or is he just making too much for that to happen?
Luke Adams
1:57
Don't think he's a positive asset now, but there's plenty of time for that to change. If he keeps improving as a two-way player, I could see his value turning around in a year or two as the cap keeps climbing.

1:58
the only thing holding the nets back or the one position/piece they need to be a real contender is?
Luke Adams
1:59
A two-way forward would be huge for them. A Kawhi/Butler type would be an ideal fit, though I don't think the Nets are frontrunners for either in free agency.
Pistons
1:59
Are we better off to stand pat at the trade deadline this year and then next year try to move Reggie Jackson, Jon Leuer, and Langston Galloway's combined expiring $25M to find a third piece of the puzzle to go with Blake and Drummond?
Luke Adams
2:01
Standing pat definitely makes more sense to me than forcing another win-now move. Attaching assets to get out from under bad contracts may just extend the Pistons' run of mediocrity. Waiting out those bad deals requires more patience, but the front office is fairly new and can afford to be patient.

Kemba’s name came up again in trade rumors yesterday......Charlotte giving up on him?
Luke Adams
2:01
Would be shocked if he goes anywhere in the next week. I think they're serious about bringing him back in free agency.
NOPels
2:01
As a Pelicans fan, I really think the lakers have the best to offer. Why is Demps reluctant to make the trade?
Luke Adams
2:03
For the Pelicans to send AD to the Lakers, they'd have to be convinced that they were taking virtually every good, non-LeBron asset the Lakers have. I think the Pels blame LeBron and the Lakers - at least in part - for AD's trade request and don't want to... reward bad behavior, so to speak.
Hawks fan
2:03
Will the hawks get anything of value for their tradable assets?
Luke Adams
2:04
Not sure if they could get a first-round pick or a good young prospect unless they take on some bad money, but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't able to get something of value for Lin, Dedmon, and Prince. Bazemore might be trickier given his contract situation.
