I doubt either team (especially the Sixers) would go ahead with it if they thought there was any chance it would be voided. It would really mess up the rest of their offseason.
If the NBA has strong and legitimate tampering concerns, they'd probably signal to both teams ahead of time that they shouldn't move forward on it (I suspect this happened with the Bucks and Bogdanovic a couple offseasons ago).
Bucks trades
12:39
Who should the Bucks target at the deadline? Had bad losses to Cle and Den recently even with Khris/Jrue/Giannis all playing. They could still win another ring but things have looked pretty shaky lately, especially on defense.

I wonder if another Lopez twins reunion would appeal to them. They're a little shorthanded in the middle and it's not clear how long Brook will be out. Robin would probably come pretty cheap.

12:40
Any Heat rumblings out there? I heard they were connected to Christian Wood.
Luke Adams
12:42
I'd be surprised if the Heat made a move for someone like Wood. Even without making any trades, they could be the favorites in the East if they can just get everyone on the court at once. A big shakeup like that probably isn't necessary.

If you were me, what moves would you be trying to make this week?
Luke Adams
12:44
I'd want to get as much as I could for Eric Gordon. I'd see if I could get anything of value for DJ Augustin and/or Daniel Theis. And I'd think seriously about a Christian Wood trade. I don't get the sense he has a long-term future in Houston. The Rockets may not move him in the next 10 days, but I bet he finishes his contract with another team.
Monk and Porter
12:44
In a weak 2022 free agent class, how much money could Malik Monk and Otto Porter Jr. receive this summer? They've both outperformed their vet minimum deals by a considerable margin.
Luke Adams
12:45
It's a weak FA class, but it's also a weak market for FAs, since there will be so little league-wide cap room. Monk and Porter could get more than the minimum, but I wouldn't count on major paydays. Something in the mid-level range makes sense. Maybe $5-10MM per year.

I know at the present time he is injured, but any chance the Hornets go after Myles Turner before the trade deadline?
Luke Adams
12:47
On one hand, if his value has dipped a little, this could be the opportunity the Hornets have been waiting for -- they've liked him for a long time. On the other hand though, it's just such a risky play if you can't see his medicals and don't necessarily know what you'll get from him the rest of this season. It's a possibility, but he'll be a Plan B or C behind healthier guys.

Wolves make another playoff appearance this year? Realistic deadline deal you'd make if you're Gupta?
Luke Adams
12:48
I really like the idea of a player like Harrison Barnes or Robert Covington on that roster in place of Malik Beasley. I don't know if they could realistically get either one though. Covington is probably more attainable, but I bet the Blazers would want more than one first-round pick if they take back Beasley. That's probably not the best use of the Wolves' draft assets.
Deandre Ayton
12:49
Will I get a max this summer? The Suns have won a bunch of games without me this season, although they probably need me more for the playoffs than regular season.
Luke Adams
12:50
I think it'll come down to whether any of the teams with cap room have real interest in you. If so, you could potentially leverage that interest into a max deal. If not, you may be looking at more of a John Collins-type compromise (though I think you'll do a little better than 5/$125MM).

Is Portland going to clear house and retool?
Luke Adams
12:53
I'm really fascinated to see what the Blazers will do. They're going to have way too many guards when everyone is healthy, so I could see McCollum and/or Powell being on the trade block. Those are two big contracts, but they could probably still get positive value for them. Nurkic and Covington would be really nice trade chips. They could theoretically acquire a pretty nice return of young players and draft picks for 3-4 of those guys while still retaining Lillard, Simons, Little, etc. It's a very interesting situation for an interim GM!

Do you think it's more likely that the Spurs trade Thad Young to a contender or they buy him out after the deadline? If you had to assign percentages to those chances, what would they be?
Luke Adams
12:55
70% buyout, 30% trade. If he were on another team, it'd be more like 50/50, but I just don't trust the Spurs to actually make in-season trades. If they move Young after trading Forbes, it'll be the first time in ages they've made multiple in-season deals (not sure exactly when the last time was, but I'm pretty sure it's been more than a decade).
Super Bowl LVI

Rams or Bengals?
Luke Adams
12:55
I'll take the Rams, but I'd like to see the Bengals pull off the upset.

What would a trade for sabonis look like if he came to DC
Luke Adams
12:57
It'd probably require at least two of Hachimura/Avdija/Kispert + Harrell. The Pacers would push for a draft pick too.
Joseph
12:57
Could we see the Raptors moving to extend Fred VanVleet this offseason? It's weird to think about but he can be a free agent after the 2022-23 season.
Luke Adams
12:59
I bet Toronto would offer one. If VanVleet picked up his player option, the Raptors could offer up to $88.74MM over three additional years (five in total). Don't think FVV would be a lock to accept that based on how he's played this season, but he might.

Finney-Smith, Boban and Burke for Ingles (expiring), Whiteside (expiring), Butler and a 1st. Who says no?
Luke Adams
1:00
Mavs, probably. I doubt they're moving Finney-Smith (or Brunson) unless it's in a package for a better player. They want to compete for the West this season.
Thanks for all your questions today, guys! There were a lot of good ones I couldn't get to. But we'll do this again on Thursday (with Dana Gauruder) and I'll be back next Tuesday to chat again once more before the deadline.
Have a great week!
