Thanks to those who have submitted questions so far, and keep them coming! We'll get underway in just a minute.

First trade deadline for the new Bulls front office, will they go big or quiet? What does that tell us about the future of the franchise?
Luke Adams
12:05
The Bulls' approach so far has been markedly different from the one we've seen from guys like Gersson Rosas and Troy Weaver, who have essentially cleaned house within their first year of taking over the front office. Karnisovas said when he took the job that he wanted to use this season as an evaluation period, and they've certainly done that so far. I'm curious, like you, to find out if he'll have seen enough by the deadline to start shaking things up.
12:06
My best guess is that they won't do anything too drastic, like trading LaVine or Carter. But I could see a series of mid-sized moves involving guys like Thad Young, Garrett Temple -- even Lauri Markkanen, maybe.

WIll LAL make any kind of move w/o AD out?  They are really small but dont have assets to trade and no $ under the cap. thx
Luke Adams
12:08
I wouldn't expect them to do anything. The expectation is that Davis will be good to go later in the season, and with home-court advantage less important this year than it usually is, the Lakers don't necessarily need to be going all-out for a top seed.
Grake Bliffin
12:08
Is it reasonable for a player to want off a certain team but then expect that team to pay him when he holds the key to freedom by simply rejecting his player option for the following year (and thus expediting a buyout for the current year)?
Asking for a friend....
Luke Adams
12:09
I think it's reasonable in this case because the, uh, Petroit Distons want it just as much as "Bliffin" does.
Based on what's been reported, I have no reason to think that Griffin would refuse to play out his contract with the Pistons if they told them they were committed to keeping him, giving him a key role, and having him mentor the young guys.

What do the warriors do when Juan Tosacano-Anderson's 2 way contract runs out?
Luke Adams
12:11
I expect they'll open up a spot either next week or at the trade deadline to eventually promote him to the 15-man roster.

Do you see the Celtics as being a realistic landing spot for John Collins?  Hypothetically, what would they give up?  Marcus Smart?
Luke Adams
12:14
It's an intriguing idea. I don't think Smart + a draft pick or two in exchange for Collins + Snell's expiring contract is that far off from what would make sense for both teams, especially since the Celtics could do it while keeping their trade exception available for another deal. It would get awfully expensive for Boston to have to pay a fourth player near-max money though.

Should I be even considering trading for Drummond
Luke Adams
12:15
I don't think a deal that involves giving up Norm Powell for Drummond is making you any better. And Powell would almost definitely have to be included for salary-matching purposes.

Everyone is talking about Anthony Davis injury. No one talking about pg13 and kawhi. If either is out significant time, will the clips have to make a move?
Luke Adams
12:16
I think they're in a similar boat to the Lakers -- they're not in danger of missing the playoffs even if one of those guys is out for a little while. As long as both are available for the postseason, there's no need to do anything too drastic.

Can the Mavericks put together a trade to get Andre Drummond from the Cavaliers, if not Drummond is there anyone else who could help the team rebound and defend the lane? Thanks
Mandy
12:17
What realistic trade package Mavericks could make for John Collins and Myles Turner to convince other team if they would be willing for trade at all. Thank you for answer!
Luke Adams
12:19
A few questions today about the Mavs acquiring frontcourt help. They're one of the few teams that has the salary necessary to comfortably match on someone like Drummond, since James Johnson's $16MM expiring deal is very useful in that respect.
12:20
I think Drummond is a more realistic target than someone like Collins or Turner. Drummond will probably just require matching salary + a second-round pick. Collins or Turner would require major assets, and Dallas has traded away multiple first-round picks and doesn't have many expendable young prospects that would really appeal to teams. If they want someone like Collins, it might make more sense to go after him in free agency this offseason when they'd have more leverage.

Blake Griffin would be a great fit on the Mavs, no? Gives them depth at 4 with Kleber and a mentor for what they hoped Dwight Powell would turn into.
Luke Adams
12:21
The way Griffin had played this season, I'm unconvinced he'd be a great fit anywhere. If he bounces back, maybe he's an option, but I'm very skeptical that's how the Mavs want to use their 2021 cap room.

who deserves second spot more in starting all star doncic/lillard, harden/irving
Luke Adams
12:23
I'd take Doncic and Harden, but leaving out Lillard is brutal. I also think whichever Eastern guard you don't consider a lock out of Bradley Beal/Jaylen Brown deserves serious consideration for that second spot.

How many of these contracts have positive trade value (would net an asset): Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green
Luke Adams
12:25
It depends on what sort of contracts you're taking on to match their salaries, but I don't think any of the three have better then neutral value right now -- that could change as they get closer to their final years and when Klay gets healthy.
Glen Taylor Was Wrong
12:25
Given how active Rosas was at the last deadline, do you see (or want to see) any moves this time? Granted, without a first this year that's challenging, but we have to speed up our timeline, right? Dangle Culver (not much value while injured), expiring Ricky, McDaniels, Nowell, future pick? Of course I've always wanted Aaron Gordon or Sabonis. Hell, let's bring back Lauri!
Luke Adams
12:28
I really don't love Minnesota's situation right now. They're not close enough to contention to be giving up more draft picks for immediate help, but there will be a temptation to double down since they don't have their 2021 pick. I think you're right about their potential direction -- dangle one or two of the young guys in the hopes you can get someone that helps you this year, then reassess in the offseason after finding out whether or not your traded pick conveys.

(Was assuming Griffin bought out)
Luke Adams
12:29
In that case, he'd be much more worth the gamble for the Mavs or another team, assuming you're not paying him beyond this season.

Has anyone noticed that my numbers this year are very similar to the numbers I put up in my unanimous MVP season, only this time I don't have my fellow splash brother for spacing?
Luke Adams
12:30
Steph has been terrific this season, but as long as the Warriors continue to hover in the play-in range, I just can't see him getting much MVP momentum. It's too bad Klay isn't healthy this year -- would make the West even more interesting to have the Warriors at full strength.
G League = AAA?
12:31
Are you pro/con an expanded G league system if NBA modeled something like AAA to MLB (entire G league team would be a direct talent pipeline to parent club)
Luke Adams
12:33
I actually don't mind the current setup, especially once the last few holdouts (Portland, Denver, Phoenix) get their own affiliates -- I like the fact that most G League standouts have the flexibility to sign with any NBA team when the opportunity arises. If you significantly increase their salaries, I'd be more on board with an MLB-type system, but I just don't think it's fair to limit their options to one organization when they're earning so little.
All Star Reboot
12:33
Thoughts on scratching/modifying the All Star game? Personally, I think the dunk contest and 3 pt shootouts are much more entertaining than the Sunday ASG that always looks like a half hearted scrimmage until the final two minutes of the game.
Luke Adams
12:34
Last year's format looked like a real step in the right direction to me. It was still sloppy in the first half, but the Elam Ending made for an excellent fourth quarter. I also don't think casual fans are as bothered by the playground feel of the first 2-3 quarters as much as hardcore fans are.
...
12:35
Do you think Kyle Lowry will get traded?
Luke Adams
12:36
I'd be surprised, unless he asks for it. He means a lot to that organization and I can't see them dumping him for some unwanted contracts and the 27th pick in the draft or something like that.

Which teams you think will be from 7-10 playing for Play In east and west?
