I imagine the hope is that they'll be able to get a sense from Oladipo over the next few weeks about his level of interest in re-signing during the offseason. If you feel good about your chances and you're comfortable with the price, keeping him makes sense to me. I think they should get what they can for Tucker though -- I don't see him re-signing in Houston.
12:45
As for what they could get for Oladipo, I imagine the package they gave up for him (essentially LeVert and a second-round pick) is probably the ceiling. You'd have to find a team that doesn't believe he'll just be a rental.

Do you think raptors are buyers or sellers? If a buyer who do you think they will target? If a seller who do you think they end up moving
Luke Adams

I'm not sure even the Raptors know that yet. Realistically though, they're not a title contender this season, so if they're a buyer, they'd be looking to acquire someone who can be a key part of the team in 2021/22 and beyond. If they sell, I don't see Siakam, Anunoby, or VanVleet going anywhere, but no one else should be untouchable.

What do I do with the bench mob (Thad, Sato, Otto Porter, Temple)?  Trade them for draft assets/younger players with more upside, or keep them around in hopes they can teach my young core how to win?

The Bulls don't need to take an all-or-nothing approach to that group -- they could consider each player on a case-by-case basis. I'm skeptical that they'll get much of value for any of them (Porter, Young, and Satoransky all have eight-figure cap hits and Temple is an 8th man), but if you get an offer you like, there's no reason not to pull the trigger.

The Nuggets look like they may have taken a step back with the losses of Grant, Plumlee, Craig, etc to free agency. What type of moves if any do you see them making at the trade deadline?
Luke Adams
12:54
They're in a better position than most teams to put together a strong package for a star, but I'm just not sure that star will be out there at this season's deadline. If Beal becomes available, they should be all over it (I'd put MPJ + picks on the table), but it seems like that's probably not happening. They shouldn't blow their assets on a third- or fourth-tier "star," so if the right player isn't available, I imagine they'll make smaller tweaks and wait until the offseason to try again for an impact guy.

Where do you think Derrick Rose ends up and what do you think the Pistons can get for him?

My head is telling me that a reunion with Thibs in New York doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, but for some reason my gut thinks it'll happen. My head favors the Clippers. I'm not sure Detroit should expect more than a second-round pick unless they absorb an unwanted multiyear contract.

Hey Luke, enjoy your work. Some NBA Covid questions: Will the NBA able to reschedule all of the missed games, such as Wizards games? Does the NBA All-Star event make sense to you? While I’m excited it’s happening, doesn’t it break all the rules the NBA set forth, such as having multiple-day quarantines before being with teams, and sticking close to within team bubble? Finally, will the NBA continue to start games around Christmas?

The All-Star plan is wild to me, considering all the protocols they have in place this year. I was sure they'd pick the teams and call it a day, maybe even using the "All-Star break" to reschedule some of the postponed games. I'm curious to know what the main motive is for holding the game, since apparently there's no separate TV deal for it -- maybe the league's TV partners are pushing them.
12:59
As for the rescheduled games, I wouldn't be surprised if some teams play fewer than 72 if they don't have a tangible effect on playoff spots (ie. a team that has played 70 games wouldn't be able to make it into the play-in tournament by winning two more games).
I expect next season's schedule to start close to mid-October again than Christmas. Otherwise they would've probably made more of an effort to play a full 82-game season this year.

What do Thunder do at deadline? Playing well, but many pieces that are not in long term plans. How does Presti use his assets?

I expect we'll hear George Hill's name pop up in trade speculation and rumors a whole lot more in the next few weeks. He's been good the last couple years and his contract is pretty team-friendly. Maybe Presti won't be able to get a first-rounder for him, but I'll bet he can get a couple seconds at least.

Is Lou, Patterson + 2 2nds enough to get Lonzo from the pels?
Luke Adams
1:03
I doubt it. The Pelicans wouldn't have much use for Lou-Will, since they're already trying to open up more minutes for their young guards. They'll probably push for either a first-round pick or a young player that could be part of the team going forward. (To be clear, I'm skeptical that asking price would be met.)

do you see the hawks making a trade for a impact player to give them that extra push they need?
Luke Adams

They've barely gotten anything so far from all the vets they signed in the offseason. I expect they'll want to try to get as many of those guys healthy and involved as possible before considering any additional moves.
1:06
Maybe they'll feel some pressure to do something with Collins if they don't intend to meet his asking price in free agency, but I don't think there should be urgency there. They could have sign-and-trade options with him in the offseason -- even matching an offer sheet for him with the intention of trading him down the road could be an option.

Just wanna say this site is awesome Luke. As a pretty new fan this has been brilliant for explaining some of the more complicated rules re. Trade exemptions, injury exemptions etc. So thanks for that. I dont have any more to add right now sorry but just wanted to thank ye for the site!

Appreciate that, thank you! As I mentioned at the top, I'll be doing this chat every Tuesday for the next couple months, and I welcome any convoluted cap or CBA questions you may have going forward.

Thanks for all the questions today, everyone. Sorry if I couldn't get to yours. We'll do this again next week though! Enjoy Clippers/Nets tonight.
